Frequensator

guild

This particular tailpiece was designed in the 1930s by Guild associate Herb Sunshine and used on the majority of their upscale archtop guitars well into the 1970s, after the company was purchased by Gibson in 1958. The Frequensator allows for a longer string length on the three bass strings and a shorter length on the three treble strings. The original had a nasty habit of cracking at the right angle bend of the anchor, across the edge of the guitar. It was impossible to fix and thus required the purchase of a new tailpiece.
