Early last Friday, according to our friends at Propellerhead Software, the latest Mac OS X Security Update caused a conflict with internet verification of their Record software (for mobile use of Record without the Ignition Key) and the related Authorizer application was unable to communicate with the Propellerhead servers. An investigation of the problem led to a very quick and painless solution; the Prop-heads were able to adjust their servers and fix the problem without need for any action from users. (Kudos to the Props for being upfront about the problem and for fixing it so quickly!)
Why are we telling you this if the problem is already solved? Because in the meantime, the Record Ignition Key authorization continued to work just fine!
So, here’s the real point: many Record users are relying on internet verification to run their software — which is great! No worries, keep doing it! But even if just as a peace-of-mind backup, it also makes sense to authorize your Ignition Key as well, in case of any internet outage problems and to be able to use the software in locations where internet access isn’t available.
