The RODE NT6 is specifically designed for situations in which mounting a mic can be difficult. Typically, this occurs when miking an acoustic instrument, though the NT6 is clearly suited to any situation where a small, unobtrusive condenser microphone system is required.
The NT6 was designed primarily for film, television, broadcast, live performance, theatre, surround, and environmental recording applications, but every engineer knows there are many instances where a diminutive microphone is required. The NT6 utilizes the 1/2-inch, externally biased, gold-sputtered transducer used in the original RODE NT5. This capsule is designed to attach to a custom-made, multi-position swivel mount, allowing it to be independently positioned with relative ease, even in tight spaces.
The NT6 is supplied with two thread adaptors that enable the capsule assembly to be securely attached to a wide variety of mic stands, tripods and boom poles. The surface-mount pre-amplifier circuit also incorporates a 2-position variable pad and a dual-position variable high-pass filter, both conveniently located away from the capsule, providing additional control without the need to move the capsule once in position.
