Apple’s Garage Band software is amazing, particularly when you consider it’s included (along with the rest of the iLife ’06 suite) free with every Mac. On the other end of the spectrum there’s Apple’s Logic Pro 7.2, which is clearly aimed at professionals and power users. For those who fall in between, Apple offers Logic Express. It offers many of the best features of Logic Pro, but without the hefty price tag. The company has now released an upgrade for Logic Express owners to version 7.2.2, which improves compatibility with the new Mac Pro and delivers maximum performance courtesy of the Mac Pro Quad-core architecture along with optimized support for the new Mac’s built-in audio ports. This upgrade is recommended for all Mac Pro users. An existing, registered Logic Express 7.2.1 installation is required to make use of this update. It’s available on Apple’s Web site.
