Martin Guitars unveiled a wide range of new models at the recent Summer NAMM (National Association of Music Merchants) tradeshow. Highlights:
- D Flamed Mahogany — spectacular and rare flamed mahogany back and sides, Adirondack spruce top, ebony fingerboard.
- D Cherry ’09 — certified sustainable woods, environmentally friendly materials, even “Green Technology” MiSi Simple Jack electronics, which require no batteries!
- D-12 David Crosby Signature Edition — there’s never been a Martin 12-string like this one: long scale, 12-fret neck, square-shoulders, and a special 6-hole bridge with ramps to space the 12 strings. It’s designed to be tuned D-G-C-F-A-D.
- MC-38 Steve Howe Special Edition — the first Martin to have an oval soundhole in more than a decade! East Indian Rosewood, Carpathian spruce, forward-shifted bracing, low-profile neck, slotted headstock, and mother-of-pearl Yin-Yang inlay. Personally signed by Steve Howe and individually numbered in sequence.
- D-28 Dan Tyminski Custom Edition — designed to meet Dan’s personal needs based on his well-worn 1946 D-28.
- 5-18 Marty Robbins Custom Edition — based on the original 12-fret, short scale (21.4″), small-body design. Black ebony fingerboard with abalone pearl Texas and lone star inlays, bone nut and saddle, Adirondack spruce top, and mahogany back and sides.
- MC-18 Woody Mann Custom Artist Edition — fast attack with balanced sound from low to high, impressive dynamic range. This one is designed for a true modern master of the Blues.
- D-18 SS Special Edition — this is the first short scale guitar Martin has ever created! Slightly lower string tension, a subtle shift in the balance of bass to mids and highs, and smooth, quick response. This 14-fret model has a 24.9″ scale length yet features traditional dimensions.
- Grand J-35E — since 1979, Martin’s Jumbo guitars have been a popular alternative to the dreadnought. The latest, the J-35E, is the largest yet, with a 17″ lower bout, a Sitka spruce top, and a big powerful voice.
