Martin introduced the X Series line with the aim of producing an acoustic guitar from more eco-friendly materials while still retaining all the earmarks of a Martin guitar: superlative design; impeccable tone; and instant playability. The GPCX2 continues this vision in grand fashion. This Grand Performance body is made from a Sitka spruce top with a cocobolo HPL back and sides for bold, balanced tone and stellar projection. A select hardwood neck and fingerboard offer smooth playability and response, and the deep cutaway gives you access to those higher notes and exploratory chordings. When you are ready to plug in, onboard Martin E-1 electronics kick out gorgeous amplified tone.

Music Background: Starting back over playing guitar in retirement

It is a great guitar ! Martin quality all the way around .
Has a built in tuner , which works well. This guitar plays well, has a great feel about it, great tone and action is good right out the box. For the money it is hard to beat .
Nothing real fancy like mother of pearl inlays , but a great basic guitar for anyone . Craftsmanship is first rate . A guitar that you will be proud to own. Recommend it !

Great Option for Live Music

Excellent guitar. I replaced my Taylor 114ce with this for live settings. Mostly play in church bands. Electronics on this guitar are great. Sounds excellent plugged in and unplugged. Bonus is the built in sound hole tuner. Love it and lets me just clip a capo to the head rather than a tuner...

Playability is great. This new style x series has a slimmer neck profile which is very close to the Taylor 114 neck style. I had a previous version martin and the neck was just too thick/bulky. These new gens are perfect.

Bonus too is the HPL back and sides. The thing feels much more robust so I do not worry about the guitar sitting in the open on a stand on stage. The guitar looks great. I love the beveled edges on the top. Looks really nice.

This is an excellent option for those who want something that plays great, looks great and doesn't break the bank.
