Shure has announced two new large-diaphragm condenser microphones, the KSM42 and the KSM44a. The KSM42 is a side-address cardioid model, aimed at premium vocal recording. The mic has tailored frequency response, extensive pop filtering, and other enhancements aimed at vocal recording. The KSM44a one-ups its predecessor with lower self noise and increased max sound pressure level for an addition 7dB of dynamic range.
