Great for a working musician

By Jason P from Pittsburgh on April 19, 2024 Music Background: 22 years working/ gigging musician

The system is super easy to use. Turn it on and it syncs right up. Keep it away from a WiFi router and you're good. I experienced this at the first gig I tried to use it at. The venue had a Wi-Fi router that was tucked away by the stage that I hadn't noticed. So I was experiencing major interference. However, the nice thing about the system is that there is an inlet plug that if something happens to your transmitter, or you experience interference like I did, that you can run a cable right into it and just use it as a tuner! I have used it twice since then, and love the freedom the wireless gives you whether you need a lot of room on stage, or you just don't want to trip over a bunch of cables. This system gives you exactly what you need tone wise, and the battery shows on the tuner how many hours you have left on it. Definitely recommended for a working musician! I have read that the clip on the transmitter doesn't like to grab onto thinner guitar straps. I use vintage thin straps on my gretsch guitars And I use a few guitars per show. So I stick the transmitter in my back pocket with the clip on the outside of my pocket. It makes Guitar changing very easy and you can't see the transmitter. I noticed zero tone loss with the system.

Plug and play

By Tomas from Norway on April 9, 2024 Music Background: gutiar hero

its ready as you plug it in, easy to charge and good life time on the battery.
used it live all types of shady places, no problemes at all.

pretty cool withe input and not just an outup, my bassist and other guitarist has borrowed the tuner just by pluging in the their jack in it. and my wireless pack jumps right back in.

old buildings with 700 folk, no problemo.

more of them in the same band no problem
love mine for a year now, even sounds like a good cable

Great product!

Shure Wireless Rocks!

By DMan from San Diego on April 8, 2024 Music Background: Rock and Roll!!!!!

This is the third Shure GLXD wireless unit I have purchased. I use them for both guitar and bass. This new unit has some great new features that improve its utility. The on/off switch has been removed, so now you just plug into the input and it turns on. Also they added an input to the base unit that allows you to plug directly into the unit so you can still use the tuner if your battery is used up. The audio quality of these units is excellent. Very reliable with long battery life also. I would recommend these to everyone wanting to be able to roam the stage without a wire to worry about.

Excelent produtc

By Ivan Vacca on February 23, 2024

This product met all my expectations, it is unbelievably compatible, take it out of the box, connect it directly and start using it without any problem, I have no interference of any kind, excellent product, arrival time and shipping management was excellent, thanks sweetwater.

Best decision !

By Bob from Marion ohio on February 16, 2024 Music Background: Bassist

I was the last one in my band to finally pick up one of these and I am so glad I did. It works absolutely amazing and no more tangle the battery last forever and it's just an all-around great product. Shure really knocked it out of the park with this one.

Wireless/tuner

By Dean Naltese from Chicago on February 7, 2024 Music Background: Multi instrumentalist and vocalist. Playing professionally for ever.

So I bought this because one theater I perform at two three times a year was giving me a hard time. My ten year old unit was unusable there. The other guitarist was using this one and it worked so I went with it.
I love it and appreciate it has a tuner in it too, and it's really accurate which is nice because it's one less thing on the pedal board.
I give it five stars and has worked flawlessly in about a months worth of gigging every weekend.

Great

Worked Great, Straight out of the Box

Good Wireless

By Darrell from Houston, TX on January 9, 2024 Music Background: Gigging musician, but not my day job

So far so good with this wireless system. I had a Line 6 wireless for years that finally came apart, and I replaced with this Shure wireless unit. Some good things include - base unit easily fits on your pedal board, comes with dedicated power cord and transformer, the transmitter seems solid and has good battery life with rechargeable battery, comes with a good Shure mini XLR cord and comes with dedicated wall plug charger. Also the base unit has built in tuner which is very nice and the wireless range so far has been good. I have LED lights in my jam room and those can interfere with cheaper wireless systems - no problem with this unit.

Needs improvement item - when you are charging the transmitter, the LED stays red, even when fully charged so you have no idea when the transmitter is fully charged until you put it in operation. There is a battery level indicator on the base unit. Minor thing, but worth mentioning.

This unit is on the pricey side, but I expect good things and long life from Shure products.

Great Wireless!!

By Bryan Burroughs from Citrus Heights, CA on December 8, 2023 Music Background: 39 years experience playing 80's guitar rock!!

I love this wireless! Super easy to use right out of the box. My guitar room is in the very back of my house and I cranked up my Marshall went out the back door and walked all of the way around my house came in the front door and continued to play walking all of the way through the house and back into my guitar room without a single drop and no loss of tone! I have put about 4 hours on the transmitter battery so far and it still shows about 80% charged. Also thanks to Anthony Longano for making my first Sweetwater purchase a breeze!

THE ONLY CORDLESS SYSTEM TO USE!!!

By Sid The Kidd from Cleveland, OH on October 10, 2023 Music Background: Professional

I have been using this GLXD system for guitar for around 6 - 7 years now and decided to get the upgraded version. This version now include 5.8 hz in addition to 2.4 which is getting a bit more crowded regarding usege of that particular band width. Both work flawlessly, I am using the older version on a smaller pedalboard and the new one on my larger board for stadiums, etc...I have never had a problem of any kind with this system in any venue. I have noticed other players with other systems having periodic momentary outages. When i received the new system, I hooked it up and walked behind two brick walls and a furnace on the other far side of my basement and it performed as though the obstacles weren't even there. This may be a bit more pricey than other systems, but it is well worth it. Made of metal and built like a tank, super easy to use, and always reliable. That's exactly what you want in a cordless system.

Pretty nice piece of equipment

By John Q from Verona, NJ on October 4, 2023 Music Background: Guitar, Bass

Got this as a "next step up" addition to my Line 6 G10ii (which has been a great unit, itself). The Shure is a solid unit that seems really durable. Took a few moments to get set up (use the guide on their website - the manual in the box was, eh, not very useful). Trial run in my home with plaster walls and wifi mesh all around and it worked great. Looking forward to live gig.

(Note - two things...1: the transmitter was flashing RED when charging which isn't in the manual/website. Support FAQ said to reset it - hold LINK button and turn on. That get it all sorted out. 2: You have to LINK it to the Receiver and to do that, press the Link button on the receiver itself. Manual isn't clear about that, either)

Well worth it

By Matthew King from ROANOKE, VA on October 3, 2023 Music Background: Regular gigging guitarist

There are less expensive options for guitar wireless, but if youre on the fence on this vs a cheaper option, the Shure is well worth it. The pack and receiver feel near bomb proof and very high quality. Battery life excellent. Connectivity is easy and reliable. I expected some amount of setup, but it worked immediately out of the box. I have also yet to encounter any instance of interference during a gig. The tuner works very well and has almost no delay to start tuning. I honestly cannot think of a single negative point against the unit at all. Highly recommended.

Best Guitar Wireless System

By Donald Greider from Sarasota, FL on October 3, 2023 Music Background: Old, cranky, and been playing guitar and bass since '64.

I have used Shure wireless systems quite a few years ago, but changed to the smaller xVive U2's. These worked out well for years until a recent gig where the venue had a massive Wi-Fi system. Just turning my body angle would cause some pretty far out sci-fi sounds. I had my eye on GLXD16+ system for awhile, and after that gig decided it was time to jump back to Shure. and I am glad I did. The other guitarist, the bass player, and our vocalist are all wireless as well. While tuning at the next practice I could tell when each of them turned on their wireless as I watched the Shure seamlessly change channels. The system is audiophile quality and I have never heard it drop out. Shure wireless has always been top quality and they've really put a lot of thought into this one. Having the tuner built in is a great idea for those of us with pedalboards. Very accurate. I am most impressed with the battery life and the indicators on the pedal where you can see them, not on the transmitter. I have used this for two rehearsals totaling five and a half hours, and a three hour gig, and just the first indicator light has gone out. The battery has hours left on it. All-in-all this system is a great leap forward from the systems of ten or more years ago. I highly recommend. As always, a big shout out to Andrew and the folks at Sweetwater. They too are always top quality.

Most reliable plug and play wireless device I have ever owned. The tuner is nice as well.

Shure GLXD16+ Industry Standard

By Rich Manning from Atlantic City on September 14, 2023 Music Background: Gigging pro

The Shure GLXD16+ is the standard by which all wireless units should be judged. The pedalboard format is perfect, the signal never drops, and the usable range is fantastic. Having the built in tuner means that board space is not wasted. I had an issue with the battery that shipped with the unit, but the guys at Sweetwater were right on it, shipping out a replacement overnight. Since then, it's been nothing but smooth sailing. I've used this on dozens of gigs in the last few weeks (summer is busy season at the Jersey Shore) including casino gigs where the potential signal interference is large, and haven't experienced a single dropout. It's more expensive than the average wireless system, but it's worth every penny!

Blows away the competition!

This thing feel so solid and dependable AND the battery life is amazing. Do your self a favor if you need a pedalboard style wireless and get this!

Amazing and durable wireless unit

By Michael Wiley from Taylor, AZ on July 18, 2023 Music Background: Semi professional musician

Got this the same day as a rehearsal and added it to my pedalboard in place of my tuner. First off, let me say, both ends of this unit are built like a tank. Both ends are made of metal, heavy metal and looks like they could take a beating. I could chuck the receiver at the bass player's head and it wouldn't get damaged. That may come in handy! I checked the tuner function against my strobe tuner and found this to be very accurate, so I won't be missing the tuner on my board. The overall performance was very clear with no detectable signal loss or change in tone. I've been a cable purist for a long time, but circumstances necessitated that I make the switch. I am not disappointed. If I had anything negative to say, the body back belt clip is not ideal. I clip the unit to my guitar strap andit comes close to falling off. I'd like to see a clip that has better attachment.

Excellent Wireless for Guitar

By John Denison from Floyds Knobs, IN on July 10, 2023 Music Background: 50yrs plus in the business

Obviously, the first thing you would expect from Shure is a wireless that works perfectly. (it does) The genius of this unit is the fact that the receiver is built into a pedal with an excellent tuner on board. I use this inconjuction with a Boss GX-100, so for me the GLXD16+ just freed up another control button. I couldn't be more pleased with this purchase. And as always that 2 year guarantee and great service from Sweetwater makes this unit even SWEETER! PS:I have a bowl of candy for sale! Thanks for the great service Robert!

Solid Build, Solid Signal

By Timothy on July 10, 2023 Music Background: Worship Director

It's built like a tank. Just opening the battery compartment on the transmitter instantly lets you know that it's a quality product (try it, you'll see ;) ). In the past, I purchased a cheaper wireless system because of the cost, yet ended up suffering with frequency issues with how much wireless traffic there is around me. With the GLXD16+ I haven't had any issues. It's easy enough hit the button to switch bands and scan for open frequencies. Battery is another highlight. Advertised 17 hours?? I purchased a second just incase, but it lasts. Haven't had a worry about anything playing all morning long from practice through our two church services. The battery indicator on the pedal is also very easy to read. Yeah, now I know I should have pony'd up for this in the first place. Totally worth the price if you're doing anything live.

Road tested

By Jacob Davis from Warner Robins, GA on July 6, 2023 Music Background: Worship/CCM/Country

I've had this thing out on the road, and have used two body packs with it. Make sure and buy the cable if you buy a second pack. It's the little things you forget. Lol. I have loved this thing so much and it's so reliable!

Excellent Wireless Guitar System

By Justin H.-A. from Chicago on June 30, 2023 Music Background: Professional

I have a friend who works at Shure, and they were talking up this system and sharing the good reviews it's gotten. I had needed a much more reliable wireless system instead of the dongle type systems where the connection was weak, there was noise from the dongle moving around in the cable jack, or it wasn't sensitive enough to feed audio signal to a digital pedal I use semi-frequently. I could not be happier with the GLXD16+! I've used it in large city street festivals, suburban outdoor shows, and shows in rural areas and it has held up well in all settings. I don't worry about it interfering with our UHF wireless mics, and I don't worry about having a poor connection, allowing me to focus on playing and performing. You can't go wrong with this system! The battery life is also great, and I got the separate charging station for it and a backup batter just in case, and I am all set!

Excellent Excellent Excellent !!!

Indestructible build with great features. No real latency and natural no loss tone. You can't go wrong with this wireless period !!!

It's plug-n-play!

By Ed from Kailua-Kona HI on June 16, 2023 Music Background: Working musician

I used an Audio Technica System 10 Stomp for almost 10 years when it finally gave out. I decided to give the Shure GLXD16+ a go as soon as it was available. After four gigs it's great to be wireless again. It's simple to use with great battery life. I played two 4 hour gigs on one charge with a lot of life left in the battery ( I do turn off the transmitter during breaks). The manual that came with the product is okay for basic information (I had to read it to pair the transmitter to the receiver) but there are a few You Tube videos on how to configure its settings. I'm looking forward to a long lasting relationship with this product (hopefully as long lasting as my Shure mics). Thanks Bart for always helping me with my purchases!

So Easy

By Sweetwater Customer on May 10, 2023

This is the easiest piece of gear I've ever set up. You just turn it on and it works perfect. No channel surfing or anything. The sound is perfect. I can't tell the difference with a chord or wireless. Everything you could possibly want in a wireless system.

Game Changer

By Justin from Georgia on May 8, 2023

This wireless system gives you the freedom to explore the stage without worrying about interference or latency. I am a bass player, playing in my church and also in secular venues, and this little unit has worked flawlessly in every circumstance so far. Very easy to setup, fits nicely on my pedalboard, and has made my Polytune basically obsolete. I have used this around numerous other wireless systems, both guitar and mic, as well as Wi-Fi devices, all with no noticeable noise or latency. It's only been a few weeks, but so far I am very pleased with this new wireless system, and have already recommended it to friends.

The best of the best

Sure GLX-D+ Dual Band Wireless Guitar Pedal System

By Sweetwater Customer on February 19, 2024

I've often after working on projects with a guitar become wrapped up in cords. To remedy that issue and after researching many alternatives I decided to purchase the Sure GLX-D+ Dual Band wireless guitar pedal system. Initially, the very scant product's operational instructions were vague to say the least. After researching other various sources I was able to get the wireless system up and running. Packed wihin this system are options to adjust bias, altered/standard tunings, monitor battery life just to mention a few. It certainly is a luxury to walk away from my sound gear and attend other tasks while with my guitar. I would imagine this would be very helpful while on tour. I haven't experienced any drop off or disconections, though I perform well within the operational range. Overall, I am very pleased with the capabilities of this wireless system.

Fantastic!

By Sweetwater Customer on January 18, 2024 Music Background: professional

Battery last a long time. Only MINOR issue is the weight; and we're talking minor.

I have the old one

By Willie from Seattle, WA on November 24, 2023 Music Background: Amateur

If this new one is like the old one, it's a beast. It's been on my pedalboard for long enough I don't remember not having it. I play bass and upright bass through it. Both happen in noisy environments with plenty of electronic interference. No problems. I haven't had any issues with channels, and after seven or eight years, I still don't know what all the features are. It doesn't matter. It works, has minimal latency, and is something I just forget about most of the time. The tuner works well, although I have noticed it's set a little different from a Snark tuner. I don't know what that's all about. The metal case is much appreciated, since it doesn't break. My receiver has a big dent in it. I don't know what happened, but obviously something did. The transmitter has plenty of area where the paint is wearing off. For a while, Sure had stopped making these. I'm very happy to see they are making them again. I have learned to depend on it so much that I didn't know what would happen if it ever broke. Not that it seems like it will ever wear out or break. That's not an issue now. I would buy another one, just updated.

Great system - easy and effective

By Eric Kirchstein from Durham, NC on July 12, 2023

This is a very high-quality system - the floor unit is an absolute tank. The receiver is also solid, though the clip isn't strong enough to keep it on a thinner strap. The cord that came with it did not screw into the unit properly and it came out frequently while playing. Of course, Sweetwater was on it and immediately sent me a replacement that works great.

The signal is flawless and I hear zero loss when compared to wired. It was very simple to set up. I literally just turned it on and it worked. Great system, highly recommended.

Excellent Results

By Sweetwater Customer on June 1, 2023

After several gigs, I can say that I love this system. Super clean, low latency and zero configuration. I agree with the other reviewer who said the documentation is not so good. I just wanted to know the input impedance (a fairly important spec), but it is not noted anywhere I could find. I wrote to Shure and they quickly responded that it is 990K ohms.

I use this with a Strat, an acoustic with built-in preamp, and an acoustic with an un-amplified piezo pickup. All deliver the identical signal level as when they are wired to my board. I needed no adjustments to my gains, compressors, etc. Yes, I know that 990K is not great for the 4MEG piezo, but it sounds great.

The tuner is excellent. The build quality is tank-like. An excellent value.

It Just Works

By Peter Wheeler from Monterey, CA on April 15, 2024

I've only used it for one day, but so far it's flawless. I'm using at home, with the only interference threat being a WiFi router five feet from my pedal board, but it's done the job flawlessly. Totally plug and play setup, sounds identical to a cord, and no discernable latency at all. All metal construction, built like a tank, transmitter clips easily to guitar strap, belt, etc. My only complaint is similar to others who have pointed out that the unit comes with almost zero operating instructions, modes, etc. The pamphlet manual is a total joke. Why can't companies get simply stuff like this right these days? Oh and, as others have said, the transmitter doesn't tell you when it's done charging. The red light just keeps blinking, and blinking, and blinking…. Still, it works perfectly and NO WIRES!

You'll not like the confusion but, you may love the product

By Mike B. from Portland, Oregon on July 20, 2023 Music Background: Professional Armature

First off, I'd just like to say that this wireless system works flawlessly…so far… before I start to trash It's instructional and FEATURELESS presentation. This device comes with a 103 page book that only about five pages will have any meaning to you. It' contains 14 languages including lawyer content to the same degree.

The instructions are simplistic, to say the least, and can leave you a bit confused. As far as an explanation of features, there are none. You're pretty much on your own to figure that part out and will find yourself searching on You tube for answers and they can be vague. I still don't know what some of the features are for but, that part can wait for a later time to figure out. It's like they forgot to include the information on features and their use.
Another thing I found interesting is when you need to charge the battery. This comes with a wall adapter and USB 'C' cable to charge. However, when charging the battery, it never stops charging. It has no indication of the battery being fully charged. Just keeps charging. Maybe a software glitch?

So, after all of that, I'd like to say that once you figure this thing out to a useable degree, most of the unexplained feature are great. The tuning feature includes strobe and needle tuners useable in silent mode. You can adjust tuning frequency. It also has a 'DB' control that you can use as an attenuator. Very useful. As I said, there are other features to figure out that have to do with an A and B comparison or some such. Not important [at the moment] to the operation in my book.

But, you know what? This thing works great and I recommend it if you are looking for a great wireless system for your rig. So, if you read all that was put down here, you just received more information that you may find gets you a leg up on how this thing works and that's more info than what came in the box, IMO. Good luck.

So far so good

By Sweetwater Customer on June 16, 2023

I have used it on 3-4 gigs, in different venues, and at a rehearsal. Only once did I have to switch frequency bands. When I did, it was flawless and easy. Like others have said, in reviews I've seen, the owners manual is horrible. Best way to learn about it is via videos and other documentation I've found online. That's the only knock on is so far.
Seems very well constructed and had all the features I needed.
My guitarist bought one on my recommendation. He seems to really like his too.
Time will tell how well it works out in the long run. This is my first experience owning/using wireless since the late 80s.

Shure Wireless

By Ken K from Albuquerque on April 10, 2024 Music Background: Bass Dirty Modine

Great concept- needed some help from tech from both Sweetwarer and Shure. There is a glitch where it shows a flashing red light while charging and never goes green. I solved this issue and then was not able to shut it off at a gig till I pulled the battery. Another issue which I found is called auto lock a feature used on Mikes. Once I solved that - all good- my much cheaper Shure wireless years ago came with a nice padded case with cut outs for the prices . This new unit - nothing. But - after the hiccups- it's a nice unit- also note there is no manual with this info.

Works in a very noisy RF environment

By Philip Wright from Carmichael, CA on November 10, 2023

I tested this unit in a small rehearsal space containing the following:

wi-fi router
several cell phones
bluetooth devices
several amps
electronic drums
a wireless printer
a wi-laptop
a wi-fi desktop
another musician with another wireless guitar unit nearby

I experienced NO interference or dropouts.

I removed a half star because it's hard to find a decent explanation of what the LED status means on the transmitter, and the software to do firmware upgrades is clunky. You need to be technologically proficient to use it.

I removed a full star because I could not get this thing to charge up, not even overnight. It turns out that charging it with a high output USB power strip was too much or something, I don't really understand why. I tried different cables, adapters, etc., but the only thing that ultimately worked was charging it with the USB output from my desktop computer. I'm fine with that, as the battery runtime is very long once it's full and I can't see myself needing to plug this in to a wall adapter unless I go on tour or something.

The build is great. Very solid feeling. Sleek in my back pocket so I can quickly change guitars. Very handy tuning pedal on the receiver. I use it in conjunction with my Polytune pedal so that I get both a needle tuner and a strobe tuner at once. I just leave the receiver in tuner mode full time so the only pedal I have to touch is the Polytune. I'm very happy with my purchase.

It’s not great, but not terrible

By Sweetwater Customer on November 10, 2023

Well built system, the tuner is cool, the battery is badass and lasts forever it seems like. Shure definitely lied about the range on this thing claiming 200ft. After going through each channel, 75ft was the best I could get without cutting out. At the first gig, my guitar player's started cutting out at about 35ft. We're gonna give the two we purchased another try at the next gig.

All in all, they work well. Just don't start wandering out in the crowd with these things. If you have to be in the audience… go the conventional wireless route and don't mess with this 2.4/5.8GHz stuff.

Buy a cord

By Terry from MO on December 1, 2023 Music Background: Gigging Musician

I've owned Shure wireless products before, but never experienced issues until this one. All these channels available to keep your signal flowing, yet at a gig last night I couldn't keep signal for one verse, much less an entire song. The system has more drop-outs during practice, gigs, home-jamming. Money well-wasted in my case. Unfortunately, with all the wireless devices present at a gig, it's just not worth the investment. I even bought a spare body pack to be able to A/B, but I have no confidence in this thing after being let down when I needed it. Going back to a cable.

Cheap Garbage-Will Inevitably Break

By Ian Espinosa from Long Beach on July 20, 2023 Music Background: Lead Tech-Death Guitarist

I had a Shure GLXD wireless system (or at least a slightly older version or it, same exact thing though) for not even 6 months and the transmitter broke from being dropped on the ground from no more than 2 to 2.5 feet off the ground. The ribbon cable broke off of the input on the transmitter and it was too small to solder by hand. I reached out to Shire to get it repaired and they said their repair portal wasn't working so I'd have to print off a form and send it in snail mail and wait for them to give me an estimate on the repair. It still isn't repaired and I just bought a Sennheiser wireless system instead. Anything would be better than Shire, AKG, Sennheiser, or anything. Dont waste your money.

Not as advertised

I purchased this with the expectations that it would be plug and play like the videos. After 2 techs and two hours a piece, it still wouldn't link.
