Figure out what tip works for you

By CW on January 25, 2024 Music Background: 50 years of drumming

I'm a drummer, the out of box tips held back too much bass for my taste. However, Changed to a one of the other 4 included styles and found they work great. So you might need to figure out the tip that works best for your ears and use.

Fantastic value!

By Hepcatt from Nashville TN area on December 13, 2023 Music Background: Professional musician, writer, and producer

I recently upgraded from the MEE Sport ones I used to get on Amazon. Drastic improvement in ear seal and spatial sound. Better low end as well. They fit well and the over ear cable keeps them in place.

Better than I expected

By Jay from Nashville, TN on May 26, 2023

Just tried out these earphones for the first time last night at a rehearsal, and they are better than I expected. Such a great fit to my ears and the variety of buds is great to have as well. I am super happy with them.

Amazing for Drums!

By Henrik on March 30, 2023

Got these for playing my drums (Roland electronic drums). I mainly got them since they're lighter than over-ear headphones, but I was actually surprised by the sound quality and noise blocking. Beats my old Sennheiser HD280s in both categories. When I'm playing now, I only hear my drum sounds from the computer, no plastic hitting noises.

Best wired Sound Isolating earpiece Ive been able to find

By Roger Perez on March 29, 2023 Music Background: Keyboard Player

I have always had problems with in-ear sound-isolating earpieces. They usually don't fit well and keep coming off, especially when it is hot and humid. These come with a wide variety of ear plugs sizes. The hard-wire, moldable wire near the earpiece itself helps a lot. Last Saturday, I used them for the first time on a live show and found a way to wrap them around my ear. They stayed firmly in place for almost three hours with no further adjustments necessary

Game Changer!

By Frank Napolitano from RADFORD, VA on February 9, 2023

I practice drums in a basement with brick walls, and it gets pretty loud down there. These earphones enable me to protect my hearing while allowing me to hear every note of a song or click of a metronome. I'm looking forward to gigging with them, as well. The sound quality and noise isolation are excellent.

Great Set of Earphones First One!!!

By Michael Quinn from Raymond, NH on January 18, 2023 Music Background: 45 yrs a drummer

I had never used Earphones before always headphones. With my Roland drum Kit.
Got this item two days ago. And I am asking why I waited so long. The clarity and the bottom end are awesome.
These only having the one driver. Can't imagine what a two or three sound like.
Great price worth every penny!!Highly recommend the SE215!!!

Shure SE215

By Kay Dick from Union University on December 30, 2022 Music Background: College conductor and professor

Perfect for what I needed. I conduct a choir and orchestra with click track and got to dress rehearsal with old ones which were awful. I called Sweetwater and they recommended the Shure 215's, overnight shipped them to me, and I had them for the performance. It went well because I could clearly and precisely hear all I needed to. Sweetwater is always good in a clutch!!

IEMs from Sweetwater

By Bryan Smythe from Owego NY on December 14, 2022 Music Background: Music Producer, bassist in a band. 20+ years experience.

10/10. For the price these IEMs are fantastic. Not just the sound quality but the noise cancelling is almost hard to believe. Sweetwater are by far the best company when it comes to customer service. A member of the team personally reached out to make sure I was happy with my purchase, which is nice to see that level of support. Couldn't be happier. Plan on ordering from Sweetwater from here on out.

My Second pair purchased

By Rod terrell from Fontana, California on September 26, 2022 Music Background: Church musical director

Got these for my wife and ito use at our church.
Bought mine first and I loved them. Was skeptical that I could get a decent sound for the low cost but was pleasantly surprised. Told my wife to get a set and she to is very happy with the sound quality and comfortable fit.
They sound great and we are both very happy with this product.

Our team absolutely loves these!!

By Blake Taylor from Anadarko, Ok on August 28, 2022 Music Background: Worship Pastor

I have been impressed with how easy and extremely beneficial these in years have been for our team, the sound and noise cancellation function is top notch. The price point is right on and practical for large orders. We are sold and we look forward to using these for many years, our representative with Sweetwater has been amazing to work with, thank you max.

Perfect

By Sweetwater Customer on June 18, 2022

Use these when practicing drums - great sound and great isolation. I also want to put a plug in for Sweetwater themselves - the first pair I got had a connection that was loose right out of the box and I was worried that I'd lose the earbud. Contacted them and they sent a replacement right away (which has no issues). Process was very smooth; excellent customer service!

Works great for drummers

By Jered from Oregon on June 15, 2022 Music Background: Lifelong guitar player and hobbyist music maker / audio producer

Was needing something not too expensive but provides good hearing protection for my daughter who is a drummer and plays LOUD! These work great for protection while allow a monitor mix of the rest of her band or cue mix of a click track to be sent in only to her. She finds them very comfortable and the detachable cables are great in case the cables get caught on gear or replacements are needed. Great sound as well.

Surprisingly Good!

By Ryan B. from CALIFORNIA, MD on June 10, 2022 Music Background: Guitarist, Bassist, Drummer, Singer/Songwriter, Recording Engineer

So full disclosure: I DON'T have any other IEM experience to use as a basis for comparison. I have a couple pairs of Sennheiser 280HD Pros that I love for tracking and editing in a studio setting and I have used multiple other brands and makes of earbuds. I own a few different Shure products, but never tried their in-ears. For single driver earphones, I'm getting surprisingly clear separation in monitor mixes that feature 4 vocal mics, 2 guitars, bass, and my 4-piece drum kit. Nothing really blurs together or is hard to differentiate as long as I do my mix well.

Would more expensive IEMs with more drivers be better? I mean, yeah, probably. But at this price point as an introduction to using IEMs, I think you could do MUCH worse.

Definitely recommend them for anyone starting with in-ear monitors who isn't ready to drop hundreds of dollars out of the gate.

Amazing sound and quality

Never use over the head headphones again

By Sweetwater Customer from Frederick Md on May 7, 2022 Music Background: Beginning drummer

These exceeded my expectations. As a drummer I constantly had over the head headphones sliding off during practice. I got tired of that and went for these to try them out. Glad I did. They do allow me to keep a lower volume in my ear since they dampen external sounds pretty well. They are comfortable and I generally have issues with ear buds. I'd imagine they would be best for on stage but I've no experience there. They are worth the try

Perfect.

By Mike from South Dakota on April 29, 2022 Music Background: Drummer for 24 years, bassist for 5

Love these to no end. I use them from everything to live monitoring (drummer) to listening to good music while mowing the yard. Excellent sound quality, best value for your buck IMO.

Awesome

Solid Isolation

By Don from Pensacola, FL on April 20, 2022 Music Background: Songwriter, Guitarist, Producer

Once you find the right ear tip of the many included with purchase, these work just great to seal in and isolate sound for recording, monitoring, ND tracking. Need to thank my Sales Engineer - Daniel Rivera-Tre for recommending. They are a big help for my purposes.

Very nice

By B from Oklahoma on March 31, 2022

These are my first in ears and I'm using them only in a studio setting. But I can't quit using them! Compared to wearing headphones for extended periods of time these are sooo much more comfortable. No more sweating behind the cans. Lol
Haven't had them for more than a few weeks. But I love them.

They do the job.

By Elliot from Clemson, SC on March 16, 2022 Music Background: Session Drumer/Vocalist

Shure stepped up their game. I haven't gone the IEM route because I was going to wait until I played venues that really needed them. As a drummer, I usually just wore ear plugs and cranked my headphones all the way up. These are MUCH better! I can plug in and play to tracks on my laptop at 3/4 volume and if needed connect my Monster Bluetooth adapter and play music from my phone. They definitely cut out the noise and are a safe option. No, they are not the best sound quality. But for the price and ease of use, I recommend them to all musicians wanting to break away from headphones and figure out their needs before dropping $800+ on custom mold IEMs.

Best bang for your buck

By Forest on February 27, 2022

These work very well for playing live, or online lessons when you really need the noise blocked out. They sound great and you don't have to spend a lot of money for them. And they hold up, I've had mine for 4yrs, even found them swimming in a pool after a drink in my gig bag leaked. I let them dry over night and they are still going strong. So it's a win-win, great quality and sound for a great price.

Shure SE215-CL

By Steve from Pennsylvania on September 6, 2021

Once you try in-ear monitors you won't go back. The Shure SE215-CL's are crisp, good low end and isolation (once you've selected the tips that fit your ear best-I like the foam tips). I'm working with an 8 piece band and in spite of having a wedge monitor right next to me, had difficulty hearing my keyboards. With the SE215's I can hear myself clearly; controlling the mix volume with a small mixer. These would also work great in the studio.

How did I ever play without these?

By D from New Hampshire on August 26, 2021 Music Background: Studio and ex-touring drummer / aspiring guitarist

Over the years I've used many different headphones and in-ears for backing tracks and monitoring both live and in the studio from brands such as Sony, Bose, Sennheiser, and more. Some of them were better than others but they all fell short in one way or another like not loud enough, not noise canceling enough, not comfortable playing with. Right out of the box these are hands down the absolute best I've ever had the pleasure of using.

The sleeves are very comfortable (especially with having multiple sizes to choose from for the best fit), the body fits perfectly into the space in my ear, the poseable wire keeps everything snug around my ear while thrashing around my kit, the adjustable wire sleeve stays where you put it, the cable appears to be built to last with every connection having thicker molding to promote a longer life for its joints, and that's just the build quality!

As for sound. They don't cancel out ALL the noise but it's an extreme difference and I'm personally a fan of how much I can still hear my kit; not too much, not too little, but juuuust right. The sound quality is also fantastic with these and has shown great versatility between metal, rock, electronic, and alternative styles.

Mind you, I know there are "much better" in-ear monitors out there (really a matter of preference), but being a musician on a budget these were EXACTLY what I was looking for and you can't complain about the $ price tag and super fast Sweetwater shipping (and the included sweets as well ;) )

Nice Pair Of Earphones

By Ed from Lees Summit, Missouri on July 27, 2021

I have had a chance to use them approximately 7 times over the past 2 weeks. Bought them to use at the gym while working out. They are comfortable. Nice sturdy construction. Good sound isolation. Stay in my ears after lots of movement and sweating. So far, I am satisfied with the purchase.

In ear monitors

By Michael Robbins from Wilmington, De. on July 18, 2021

The Shure 215 in ear monitors are reasonably priced, very comfortable and the sound is great. I highly recommend them.

Glad I have them

By Sweetwater Customer on July 14, 2021

Playing drums in a pit was killing my ears. The shure se215 is like wearing ear plugs. Head phones were quicker putting on but with glasses they never cut the noise very well and I ended up boosting the volume to hear the keys, bass and singer's. After three songs my ears were hurting. With these ear buds I'm able to turn down the volume and can hear the drums better via Aviom system. I feel like my ears are better protected now.

Even for a professional musician these work very good

By Sweetwater Customer on June 24, 2021

been using these in ears for about 5 years to perform live with aviom and I really don't have complains. The isolation is not total, but for playing and singing is good to have some additional reference of the sound in the place in general. I have a drummer that uses this and he is pretty happy but don't think is the best option for a drummer but for the budget they are great. And forgot lol, they sound pretty good and clean. Definitely good for monitoring because they have a clear image and don't distort. Annnnd, for last the look good and fit well, for the price, mmm, I don't think they have much competition

Exactly what I wanted

By Rocky from The Villages, Florida on May 18, 2021 Music Background: Professional Musician drums/bass guitar and keyboards for 40 plus years

I have now purchased two sets of these earbuds. I keep one set for our band gigs and another set in my church gig bag. I use them with our Xvive wireless ear monitors and with our church's in ear monitor system. The earbuds fit well, are easy to use and sound great.

Great sound and comfortable.

By Sweetwater Customer on April 29, 2021

I needed a new solution for monitoring while playing along with tracks for video purposes and landed on these because of the attractive price. Because they were on the cheaper side of the spectrum, I was a bit skeptical. But, they actually do sound great. Clear as ever and they pick up the full array of sound that's thrown to them. Sound isolation is decent as well. Actually had someone shouting for me across the room while I was playing through them and I didn't notice until they started flailing their arms. haha

My daughter Loves these!

By Johnny B from Indiana on March 25, 2021

Outstanding little set. Work well with her iPhone. Great quality

Shure knocks it outta the park with these!

By Vaughn Ripley from Brunswick, MD on March 5, 2021 Music Background: Guitarist

Recently got a wireless monitor system and wanted some high quality in-ears that didn't break the bank. These things ROCK! The sound is astounding and so much better than the floor monitors. Plus they are comfy as heck! I was worried about fit and such, but they feel as though they're matched for my ears! Plus they come with several size adjustments so they should fit most folks ears. If you are thinking about getting in-ears, you cannot beat this price to performance ratio!

Great sound

By Frank Hinton from Louisville Ky. on December 27, 2020

They sound amazing. So worth the price.

Surprisingly good

By Sweetwater Customer on December 8, 2020

I bought these sure SE215 earphones after the cheaper pair (but not that cheap) stopped delivering sound to the right ear. These were dual drivers, so I expected the SE215 to be the same or maybe less good as they were single drivers. I've used Shure microphones on and off for about 45 years and know them as a very sound, reliable brand, part of the fabric of the live music scene.
The SE215 headphones came with multiple foam and rubber exchangeable earpieces, I just started with the set that was already on to hear how they were. I put them in my ears, the fit was snug, the wire is strong and feels more robust than my previous pair. I switched on my mics and equipment and sang and played guitar. They were immediately noticeably clearer, crisper and the sound was "deep in my head". I hear bass notes and treble highs, I'd say they deliver more treble than bass, for me that's good as I'm listening for my vocals.
For my current purposes (live-streaming... as there are no gigs due to Covid-19) they are spot-on, they are maybe too good as they isolate everything and I'm not used to only hearing myself so clearly, so I'm just using one ear at the moment. At live gigs I will use both as they will eliminate crowd noise which will be great.

Great Quality Earphones

By Bill from Clovis, CA on October 10, 2020 Music Background: Weekend Warrior since 1975

We use these for our wireless in-ear monitors. Very comfortable to wear. The sound quality is crystal clear. You have several different sizes of foam or rubber earpieces to choose from for the best fit. Highly recommended.

First set of of IEMs

By Scott from Ohio on July 27, 2020 Music Background: Guitar player for over 20 years

I've been playing guitar at a local church for awhile and have always used standard ear buds for the wireless packs. I decided it was finally time to upgrade and went with the Shure SE215. Everything is so much clearer, and it's easier to focus on the parts of the mix I want to hear.

If you haven't used this type before, getting them in your ears and fitting comfortably is a little tricky. At least it was for me. And the foam inserts were a little odd for me also. But once I realized what they were, I was okay. I kept thinking I was ruining them when I tried to remove them, until I realized they were supposed to be "squishy". They are more like ear plugs than typical ear buds.

Now that I've worn them a few times, and I got used to how to fit, I would definitely recommend.

VERY GOOD PRODUCT

By Sweetwater Customer on July 12, 2020

For podcast and recording audio are the best because the sound never goes into the mic.

Great for in-ear monitors

By Greg from Edison, NJ, USA on June 15, 2020 Music Background: Amateur hobbyist

My band switched over to in-ear monitors almost 2 years ago. My Shure SE215's have been working great. Their sound isolation quality is almost 100%!!! When I have both in my ears, I cannot hear anyone who tries to talk to me when I'm onstage. They protect my hearing and allow me to hear everyone in the band no matter where I go. I also use a wireless guitar system, so I can roam and hear the full band! A great product!

Fantastic sound

By Sweetwater Customer from TX on May 16, 2020 Music Background: Worship vocalist

I am so happy with these! Now I am only sad I didn't purchase them sooner. The sound is so much better than what I had been using prior. I found myself taking one of my In-ears out during a worship set And now with these, the sound is amazing! So happy and they were very affordable.

Full Range Audio

By Sean Combs from Jackson, NJ on January 19, 2020 Music Background: Touring Musician

I bought these to replace the monitors that came with the Galaxy Audio AS1100 Wireless receiver which has titanium drivers that sound bright and thin, very little bass. If you're looking for quality in-ear monitors with a budget, these are a great way to go. Very comfortable. They provide high quality full range sound. The cable on the cable for the SE215 is tough, and in case something happens to the cable, it is replaceable. The cables swivel where they connect to the monitors, and the hardened wire inside the first few inches of the monitors makes it easier to loop and custom fit them over the top of your ear, this helps keep them in place and guides the wires out of your way. The memory foam ear pieces fit snugly and block out much of the ambient sound. The package comes with 3 sizes of memory foam and rubber ear inserts. Highly recommended if dual or higher driver monitors are out of your budget.
Playing drums, I have had no issues with them coming out of my ears, it actually takes effort to get them out.
Marked with a TINY dots for each ear, Red is Right. Comes with a zippered durable carrying case.

Good, clean, clear sound

By Greg Koneiczny from IN on January 16, 2020 Music Background: Musician and Recording Engineer

I have been able to use these a few times already and found them to be quite clear and very comfortable. I did an A-B comparison with them against my studio monitors and found the quality is not exactly 100% there but they were pretty close. Great product for the price.

Sound awesome

By Doyle Frazier from Graeagle California on January 8, 2020 Music Background: Worship Team bass guitar/bouble bass, sound tech. 50+years

I'am the bass player for our Worship Team and needed to go in ear. My biggest concern was bass responce and price. These things nailed it. The bass responce is almost equal to my over the ear Sennheiser studio monitors. I almost went with the Sennheiser ear burs because they speced out equal to the Shure but price was the deciding factor.

Amazing Quality; Love Shure

By Israel Hernandez from Gainesville, GA on November 20, 2019 Music Background: Worship-band stage Musician

When I got these Iems, I thought that it would serve me as a backup, given its price range. However, when I began to use them, I was amazed by its quality, durability and the fact that I don't go through Ear fatigue anymore. As a drummer, I highly recommend it to all - you won't be let down by Shure gear. Trustworthy and excellent!

Great for What They Are

By Ross from Midwest on November 18, 2019 Music Background: Professional Guitarist/Music Director mostly in Church world

I gave these all 5 stars because for the price point, they're amazing. If you buy them expecting the same sound quality you get from custom molds at 4-15 times the price, then you're going to be disappointed, but they're a great option as an entry point into IEMs or as a backup pair to have around. We give them to new volunteers at church and they're perfect for that.

Defense against too loud drummer

By Sweetwater Customer on November 8, 2019

I started with ambient sound earphones, but my new drummer has one volume, which is slightly above 10 on my guitar amp. I use a headphone monitor out on my amp so I can hear what I am playing (and singing) and sound isolating earphones turned out to be critical. (Trust me, I can still hear the drummer just fine.)

I purchased a pair of the Shure SE215 Earphones for the purpose to use in worship music. While on stage, these earphones provide a clear and crisp sound that make it easy to interpret different instrumentation and vocals. The SE215s help define low bass sounds, as well as high piano/synth sounds. Special thanks to my Sales Engineer Brad for helping me get these to me in less than a day!

Second Pair

By Mike from South Dakota on June 11, 2019 Music Background: Intermediate

This is my second pair of these, my first pair I got three years ago to use playing drums, switched to these from a Sennheiser HD260 headset. The SE215s made a huge difference in the sound pressure levels in my ears, I was able to turn the master mix volume down considerably and still not be overblown by drum noise. I have been using these on my lawn mower with my ipod as well, can't hear the lawn mower noise, so good is the noise reduction from the SE215s. Hence my problem: I needed an extra pair for my stick bag for drumming, and the original pair is for yard work, running the round baler, mowing hay, and other noisy work where I would rather listen to good music at a comfortable volume than noisy equipment with earplugs. Can't say I've ever had any issues with these, they're amazing.

Awesome

By Idella from McDonald, PA on May 10, 2019 Music Background: Drummer

They work great for Her and we play studio/live to work. Cliff and all of the staff at Sweetwater have the things we need and are awesome to work with in a fully operational studio. Shure 57's & 58's have been staples in my 50+ years so I ordered the 215's and once again...Love that smile when She heard 'em... J. Potter/P.H.M./BMI

These aren't high dollar earphones, and I haven't tried high dollar ones so this is not a comparison.

I WILL say that these sound just fine to me and the sound quality seems to rival that of my good headphones.

Absolutely Amazing Earbuds

By Connor Reyes from Hamilton, Ohio on February 13, 2019 Music Background: Electronic Music Listener

I use them every day, I went from using 25$ earbuds to these, and they absolutely blew me away. I love bass in the music I listen to, but most earbuds and headphones have a bass boost, which these don't seem to have, which is a great thing. The audio is clear and unchanged, exactly how the music was intended to be. Even when not wanting to listen to music, I'll put them in and just block out the sound around me. I've used Beats headphones before and these are much better, they're cheaper, sound better, and are easier to carry around. I'd recommend these to anyone looking for a quality pair of earbuds that will last them a long time.

So Light So good

By Ryan Allin from Cleveland, OH on January 23, 2019 Music Background: Praise team leader

These are the best headphone I own. They are super light yet extremely rugged. The open back design makes them feel as if your wearing nothing but the sound is incredible. I use them with my amp attenuator and I can crank the amp and bother no one.

Great bang for your buck!

I use these daily on the subway, on phone calls, and for sound design and they have yet to fail me! The included accessories make this a great offering from Sennheiser. I once accidentally left my headphones in a pocket and they ended up in my washer and dryer...and they still worked!

Incredible Reliability

By Bryan S. from Indiana on October 4, 2018

I have owned this model of IEMs for 10+ years. Over that time I have worn them for gigs, yard-work, and at the gym. Last week the sound started cutting out and I feared I would have to replace them--not a bad life and I thought I would re-up for another 10 year set. However, I tried a replacement cable for a quarter of the price and a quick swap brought the ears right back to life. Incredible. Oh, and they sound good too.

Top notch

By Sweetwater Customer on September 4, 2018

Coming from Bose qc25, it took time to adjust to the se215's sound signature. I slowly began to appreciate the clarity and accuracy of the sound that Bose didn't provide. If you like heavy bass, this isn't for you. It's meant to have an overall accurate natural sound. Only downside is the highs can sometimes get sibilance on high frequencies but that's expected for the price. Thumbs up on Sweetwater's 2 year warranty hassle-free replacement when I had an issue.

Sounds great!

By William Pridgen from Goose Creek, SC on August 15, 2018 Music Background: Drums and percussion.

For single driver in ears, these are amazing. I didn't want to spend three or four hundred dollars and could not be more pleased with these. Get them if you are on a budget but want something that sounds great!

Fantastic! As good as my very expensive UE in ear monitors!

By SMullis from Houston, TX on June 24, 2018 Music Background: Professional

I am extremely happy with this purchase. I broke my UE11 Pro in-ear monitors and had to send them in for repair. While they were being repaired I needed some in-ear monitors for live gigs. I play bass guitar and sing, so I need to be able to hear everything well including my bass and the drums while also needing to be able to hear the nuances of vocals and guitars. For $ I wasn't expecting the quality sound that I get from these Shure e215's. Honestly, these might sound as good as my super expensive UE11 Pro's. It's hard to say without an A/B comparison, but the mere fact that I think they MIGHT sound as good just proves how awesome they are. I'll have to A/B them when I get my UE's back from repair, but what I can tell you is that these are well worth the money. They also came with several ear pieces. I love the ones that already came attached. The squish like a foam earplug and then swell up to seal in the ear. They are very comfortable and my ears do not feel fatigued even after long periods wearing them. If you need some reliable and great sounding, yet affordable, in-ear monitors buy these.

Awesome product

By John Kent on June 7, 2018

I"ve had these for several years now. Sound quality is excellent for the money, and they do a good job of protecting your hearing. Just recently ran them through the washer and dryer accidently and they still sound great and work fine! Can"t say enough good things about them.

Phenomenal Value

By Marc from Lafayette on May 22, 2018 Music Background: Performer / Worship Leader

I was in the market for a good earphone, as I am somewhat new to the world of in-ear monitoring and performing. I had my sights set in the $300-$400 range, as the more seasoned performers I jam with recommended. I'm sure their equipment is great, but these SE215 model earphones are more than sufficient, and the sound is amazingly versatile and clear. I had practically ZERO background noise also. Big shout out to Tim Harrington for his guidance and excellent customer service. Thanks for saving me a bundle Tim!

Great Product

By Chris Deardorff from Columbus Ohio on March 27, 2018

As an ameature stage musician, I"ve tried the SE215 along with the dual and triple driver versions. Although the dual and triple driver versions do sound better and have a more rich low end, I find that the SE215s are an excellent product for the money. Go with the SE215s! They sound great and a re cheap compared to other models

Extremely comfortable, durable, universal

By Ryan from San Diego, CA on March 12, 2018 Music Background: Audio Engineering and Music Production Major

I ordered a pair of these headphones with high expectations and they've fulfilled everyone of them. From the moment I put my hands on them, they felt and looked like they were made with high quality materials. The construction and design that went into a pair of headphones in this price range is unbeatable. They're lightweight, durable and if you break anything, all of the parts are replaceable. For example, if your inserts wear out, if the cord breaks, or you want to upgrade your cord to bluetooth. Any combination is possible with the Shure headphones. The foam earbuds it came with were really comfortable. I could only imagine they would be nice for vocalists. I haven't heard about any complaints with irritation since using the Shure headphones with artists in my studio. With other brand name earbuds that I own, the singer always complains about irritation because when the jaw moves with earbuds on, it causes the earbuds to shift around. That does not seem to be the case with the foam inserts that the Shure headphones came with. My only issue with the Shure headphones is, there's a little bit of a learning curve to get them on your ears, but once they're on, you know they aren't going to come off. They're very secure on your head. Overall, These headphones are a must for every musician. They sound great for monitoring purposes and double as a pair ear plugs. The most important thing you can do as a musician is protect your hearing. It's a wise investment for the sake of your health and quality of life.

Works great

By Bim from N. Florida on February 9, 2018 Music Background: Pro Rock Band

My first set on in ears so I can't compare to other brands or models but I am very pleased with the 215s. I could hear everything I wanted to hear, clearly and my ears weren't ringing after a 4 hour show playing hard rock. I play hard and move around a lot, they didn't fall out once although I am going to add a clip to attach to the back of my shirt so it doesn't pull down on them.

Awesome monitors

By Roland Street on November 3, 2017 Music Background: 6 year drummer and 2 year guitarist musicaholic

I got these a few months ago when my church upgraded to a digital mixing board and an in ear system. I've used these for worship music and gone home and played metal (Asking Alexandria and Bring Me The Horizon etc.). Everyone I know has tried the cheap monitors, and had tons of problems. I'm the only one who hasn't had any problems with my monitors. Sound quality is great. The bass is perfect and allows you to "feel" the music. The foam tips seal in your ears like firearm ear plugs and isolate all background noises. You can totally jam and not worry about them falling out of your ears. Whether you're just wanting to listen to music or playing giant arenas these IEM's are great! They also come with a 2 year warranty! I highly recommend these for any use. If you're thinking about clicking the add to cart button CLICK IT! It'll be the last and best pair of earphones you'll get for years!

My daughter loves them

Shure SE215 earphones

By Rick from Sacramento on August 6, 2017

Great sounding earphones that fit snugly inside your ear. They click in and stay there if you put them in correctly. My band mate had the same ones for months, but didn't place them correctly.
Once set, all outside sound is cut off. Make sure you get the right mix because you won't hear anything else. I'd buy them again.

SHURE SE215 In Ear Monitors

By Singer no longer frustrated from Florida on July 24, 2017

Wish I had known about these months ago. These 'in ear monitors' may have helped me avoid the ringing I now have in my ears due to singing in the midst of all the incredibly loud band instruments. The IEM's sound quality is so crystal clear in fact, that I can keep the instrument volume turned down enough and still hear myself sing and stay in key...a simple but here-to-for elusive resolution. Our band drummer uses the same IEMS. It was his suggestion to purchase the set to save me from all the frustration and possible damage. Thanks Sweetwater, thanks a thousand times for having this item in your inventory!

Great

These in ear monitors are so good. Whenever I drum it sounds amazing hearing the vocals and guitars and all the other instruments. Totally worth it!! Thanks you guys!

Great for this price!

By JPA on July 4, 2017

I bought these for recording, rehearsing, and for listening during noisy flights. They have exceeded my expectations for comfort, sound quality and attenuation. I use these while playing acoustic drums at a moderate volume. They do take a little practice to put in comfortably. I found the medium, black foam plugs provided the best fit and comfort and the necessary attenuation to hear my mix without cranking the volume. I also use these when I fly in addition to my Bose QC35 over-ear headphones. While the SE215's don't provide the same bass response as the over-ear phones, it is still a high quality sound. (I found using the "unplugged" QC35 over the SE215's - just for noise reduction - made the noisy world go away when I fly).
The carrying pouch with the mini carabiner is a nice touch. It's also awesome that I can replace individual parts as needed.

Love these!

By Jay Lundstrom from Medway, ME on July 1, 2017

I play keyboards in a local weekend band, and have until now been using a large wedge monitor. Our drummer convinced me to try these Shure SE215's and after tonight's debut with them, there's no going back. I was hearing my Kurzweil's the way they were programmed...no wall of stage sound fighting me. It was like listening to a CD of the band and playing along. I highly recommend them. And great service from Sweetwater, as always! :)

Great in-ear monitors!

By Dave D. from Bedford, NH on June 8, 2017 Music Background: Professional

Great in ear monitoring

By Mark from Denver on June 3, 2017 Music Background: Working drummer

These things are the real deal, not to mention the incredible price point. I am a drummer and they work to keep out stage noise so well that I can monitor at a very low volume. The fidelity of the range of sound is great from up high to down low and they are well balanced. If you are looking to save your ears and tighten up the live sound/mix, buy this product and you won't be disappointed.

Perfect for the money

By Tommy on March 21, 2017

Great earphones. The little carry pouch and variety of inserts (rubber in various sizes and foam in various sizes) make the Shure earphones top notch in the price range they are marketed for. I use them behind a drum kit in a 9 piece band behind a drum shield and they work great.

Shure SE215

By Jacob on February 20, 2017 Music Background: 15 years playing guitar

After owning a more expensive pair of headphones that broke, a friend of mine told me about these headphones. I wasn't too sure about them. He told me just try them you'll be supprised. So I bought a set. These headphones are outstanding! I use them playing live and I have absolute clarity. They have a good range of lows and highs. I would recommend them 100%.

Skeptical at first, however...

By One on December 29, 2016 Music Background: Lead professional singer and guitarist

I used to own the previous model. One day they fell off my shoulder and hit the ground. The driver popped dead (I understand this used to be the previous model's weakness, faulty fragile drivers).

Needless to say I was skeptical when buying these, but given that I've owned a lot of Shure gear that has resisted time and abuses for several years, I decided to give the new model a shot.

I was completely blown away. When I compare both the old and newer model, the difference in overall quality is worlds apart. Shure revamped these in such a way, they feel like completely different products in very different price ranges.

The newer SE15 model simply feels a lot sturdier and a lot more durable, it makes my older model feel like cheap street earphones. I got these from Sweetwater at a Holliday discount and I just couldn't be more satisfied.

Audio quality is amazing, perfect for my voice, and the definition is unbeatable. I used to own double driver Audio Technica earphones (which btw died on me after little less than a year). These earphones sound way better, and when using the ear foams that come with them, I'm completely isolated, better than ever. These also stay in place, rarely come out of my ear.

All around good

By Sweetwater Customer from midwest on December 23, 2016 Music Background: Classically trained from band and regularly play drums bass guitar and piano for church/ like events.

I think that these are definitely the best for the money under a couple hundred dollars. I also own a lawn care service and I used these all summer with absolutely no problems. I was actually able to turn my music down because of how well these isolated the sound into my ear and did not let the sound bleed out. I'd buy them again and again and again x ∞.

Great For 5 String Bass Players

By Mike B from Iowa on September 3, 2016 Music Background: Bassist in a working cover band

I was really worried that this wouldn't pick up the low end of my B-string on my Fender 5 string J-bass. It sounds great. I haven't tried the more expensive ones so I don't know if there would be a dramatic difference but I have never been left wishing it sounded better. I play in a working cover band that uses all in-ears without any stage monitors. We all use these. For $100, you couldn't ask for anything better. You do have to play around with the ear pieces to find the right fit. And boy are the once that come on them hard to get off!!! Follow the instructions and keep pinching and twisting. You'll eventually get them off. I unfortunely kind of messed up the ones that came stock on them when I was trying get them off but I didn't end up using those anyway so it didn't matter.

Best I've ever had!

By Aaron from CT on June 9, 2016

The noise-isolation is far better than with any I've used (including "noise-canceling"). I've had dozens of different pairs of earbuds over the years. I think if I'd had these, that number might be as low as 1. With others, the cables are usually the first thing to go, rendering the earbuds useless. The cable that came with these is clearly sturdier than any I've ever seen, and even if it does go, you can replace it at relatively minimal cost. The sound, to my ears, is quite balanced.

Only issue I've had is with the over-the-ear configuration; they don't always stay in place quite as well as I'd like when wearing glasses. This might have been worth taking off a half-star, but the pro's so far outweigh the cons it averages out to the highest possible score.

These are way better than my previous earphones. After 35 years of playing bass, guitars and keys in large church and secular venues, these are the best in ear monitors I've used. Exactly what I needed

By Gary C. on October 11, 2015 Music Background: Professional Musician

I needed a replacement for my in-ear monitors, as the set I owned previously had failed. Didn't need a megabuck kind of setup, but something that reproduced sound in a clear and clean fashion.

I found the Shure SE215 in-ear monitors at Sweetwater, decided to order them, and was greatly surprised at how well they work. For the money, they're perfect.

If you are in the market for an inexpensive in-ear unit that gets the job done, I would highly recommend these.

Thanks, Sweetwater!!

Great sound!

We've been using in-ears for a number of years and I finally decided to buy a decent pair.
The sound of these ear buds is excellent - nice low end - clear mids and highs - I'm very impressed. They are a bit difficult to get "fitted" to your ear at first but once they are shaped it becomes easier.
Mike at Sweetwater was a pleasure to deal with, as always - good price - fast delivery!

First time with IEM

By Jahaziel Martin on July 6, 2015 Music Background: Live & Studio Bassplayer / Worship Leader

Before I start, let me make clear that these are my first IEM earphones, so I have nothing to compare them. I've been playing bass for about 11 years and I've always been told that "bass is too loud in the stage and we can't hear the voices/guitar/keys" so I decided to make an upgrade (Had a real struggle before moving forward, I'm one of those old school bassplayers that love to feel that powerful low end behind my back). I bought a headphone amp for me and the drummer so we can hear each other along with some multi tracks/backing tracks. The first time I used the headphone amp I did it with my Beat Earbuds....oh man, that was awful, so I ordered these quickly, and believe me...I'M REALLY IMPRESSED! We're trying to get a professional In-Ear-System for the whole band (individual mix), then maybe I'll do an upgrade to 2 drivers, but at this moment, I'm really glad with my purchase...and wondering myself why I didn't do this long time ago...

Super Value In Ears

By Steve Janosko from Roanoke, VA on February 23, 2015 Music Background: Semi-Pro, house of worship band

My old Sure In Ears were beginning to have cable issues, and our drummer had a pair of these. I compared it to the 3 driver in ears that our bass player uses, and for my purposes these were great. I primarily play electric guitar & also do backup and lead vocals. I like the fact that I can replace the cables if needed. We use an Aviom system for personal monitoring, and these work great with it. Very clear and very comfortable. I am pleased with my purchase, you can't go wrong with Sure.

surprisingly good sound

By peter booth from United States on February 7, 2015 Music Background: hoobyist

I decided to order these phones because the brand and price were excellent. I have always previously used Bose phones but tried these because of the price. I did not expect the sound quality to be at least equal to Bose and the build quality might in fact be better. Even more impressive has been the service provided by Sweetwater. From the moment my order was placed it was treated as an important order even although it was a $100 dollar item. I received the item ahead of the promised date and Sweetwater stayed in touch throughout the process.

I was needing to get some in ears and someone told me to try these. I really didn't want to spend a lot because I play occasionally at my church and didn't want to tie up a lot of money into them. All I have to say is WOW! I really didn't think that they would be great being around $100 but I was mistaken. I can hear everything clear and nothing is distorted. Really great product especially for the money.

Amazing sound!!

By Debbie from San Jose, CA on August 24, 2014 Music Background: Vocalist, performer, Worship leader.

I sing in a Christian worship band where we are starting to switch to an in ear monitoring system. We were preparing for a concert at a nearby park and it was my first time to use the system. Since they only had so many professional in ear buds, I was given ipods. Everything was muffled and I couldn't really hear anything. I finally had to take them out of my ears so I could hear something. I decided to search for my own earbuds in hopes it would make a difference. I stumbled upon this sight and there were so many good reviews on these ear monitors, plus the price was reasonable, so I thought I'd give it a try. They came very quickly in the mail and I wore the to the next rehearsal. OMG!!!! AMAZING!!! I could hear all the vocals, and instruments. Everything was clear and crisp and the balance was incredible. I LOVE these ear buds. They are comfortable and seal out outside sounds so well. I can't say enough about these. The price was great, the Sweetwater service was great. I would totally recommend these.

Shure SE215

By Myles Cooley from USA on August 16, 2014 Music Background: Former Worship Leader, Hobbyist

I auditioned for my church's youth band recently, and needed to get some good/cheap IEMs to start out with. I looked around for a while, particularly at Westones in the same price range, but the reviews on these were extremely good, so I decided to try these out. It took a while to get them because the shipping had some setbacks I think, but it was worth the wait. These things are AWESOME. I've heard so many parts of music that I've never heard before in my favorite songs. The medium size foam tips were a perfect fit and keep almost all sound out. By James from Heber, AZ USA on August 15, 2014 Music Background: Hobbyist student of recording

I became aware of these in an music related magazine I was reading. They had good things to say about them. These are my first pair of in-ears and I did not want to spend a lot in case they just didn't work for me. Anyway, I did good. These are terrific and I could not be more pleased. It would be hard not to find a decent fit with this set because of the assortment of tips included in the box. Includes a neat little case to keep them in, too. They sound great and are comfortable for me to wear for extended periods (one day I forgot I had them on...well almost). I will use these for a long time before needing to upgrade. They're that good.

Groud breaking tech for an affordable price

By Presley Daniel from Houston, TX on July 15, 2014 Music Background: Recording Engineer, live sound engineer, church musician, hobbyist.

I am a musician. I play drums and also play electric guitar. I recently switched to being the electric guitar at my church. We've aviom monitoring system and I was using a cheap headphone. I've been looking for a good price to get a better in ear headphones for a while and when I heard about this shure earphone, I was very skeptical. Biggest reason, because it was only $100s. I did some research on it and found so many great reviews. So I thought I'd take a chance and test it out. I got one a tried it at my church; I honestly say that this is THE best in ears you can get if you are on a budget or not. So surprised by the results I felt and saw, I started using it with my personal music player and recommended it to lot of my friends who are musicians. I'd like to thank Shure, Sweetwater and Mr. Norb (sales rep from Sweetwater) for making this awesome experience. I would definitely recommend this to everyone; beginner or pro, this will blow you away. It has a very crisp sound. Every note, I pick on my electric and every beat, I play on my drums; it never fails to give me and amazing experience.

Great Headphones

Great Ear Monitors

When these buds are placed properly into your ear, you better hope you can read lips because cut out all sound except what's coming through your monitors. There is know static or any other mudiness. These Shure SE215 in-ear monitors work great. They will work as great as your mixing system and sound man allow it. They look good and do the job without remortgaging the house!

Fantastic

By Lauri K from Millersburg, Ohio on June 4, 2014 Music Background: Keyboard/vocalist

Been playing piano/ keyboard for 40+ years. Just recently we decided for the sake of our church congregation that we need to clean up the sound coming off the stage during our worship services. We'll that meant in ear monitors. I was one that dreaded the change. Just used them for the first time and was blown out of the water with the clarity of sound I was hearing. These are comfortable and stay in place. Drums, bass, voices, all were very clear. Never imagined that I would be able to hear like this.

i LOVE these ears!! they are perfect for playing in the band at church. its just gross to me to use the same ears as all the other people that play bass on Sundays. took a strong stomach to spend 100 dollars on earphones but they are WELL worth it!

Right tool for the job

By Seth Boone from Columbia, SC USA on February 18, 2014 Music Background: Drummer, studio musician

The Shure SE215's give you the quality and audio you'd expect from a legendary brand. Being in two national touring acts, and being a percussionist, I need the perfect balance of isolation and clarity. You won't find more value for your dollar! The team at sweetwater made it easy, fast and friendly and really understand what a musician like myself needs. Great product, great retailer, couldn't be more impressed!

Worth it!

By Jeremy P from Fargo, ND on September 17, 2013 Music Background: I play in church on a regular basis and I have done some studio recording / tracking.

I just started playing drums regularly at my church - I play on an acoustic drum kit, behind / blocked in by a drum shield. The sound can be pretty overwhelming. These work great for Isolation - and in a church that regularly has a 8 piece band - 2 guitar players, bass, acoustic guitar, grand Piano, 2 keyboards, plus 2 or 3 vocalists as well as a full orchestra and choir - the mix is great in my SE215's. I haven't tried the more expensive models, but the SE215's work very well for what I need. Again, the isolation they provide is great. They are a comfort fit too - I wear them with EAYLF1 Foam Sleeves for Shure Earphones - Yellow. I play pretty heavily and am pretty animated, I never have a fear of them falling out. The fit nice and snug, and part of the coil can wrap around your outer ear, which helps keep them from ever falling out. Worth it!

The service I received from Sweetwater was amazing. As soon as I placed my order with them, I got a call and an email from a representative within an hour. Great customer service.

The earphones are amazing as well! I was using some over the ear headphones before with our monitor system and decided I needed to get some in-ears and for the price I don't think there is a comparison in quality. I hear everything so clear now and they are also very comfortable.

Professional In-ear Monitors....

By Dave from Northern CA on October 11, 2012 Music Background: 35 years semi pro bassist, guitarist

I use these on stage at church and I can tell you that these sound great. Excellent clear bass response without any muddiness. Vocals, keys, guitars all come through the mix crystal clear. It will take a few minutes to fit these to your ears so take the time and experiment with the included Fit Kit and make sure that you have the right and left on the (ahem) right and left ear as it is easy to get these mixed up if you don't look closely at them. The R/L markings are small and hard to see in dim light so make sure you fit these on before going on stage. Once fitted though, you will have no problem hearing what you and your band are doing during the show.

huge improvement

By Matt Headley from United States on April 24, 2012 Music Background: contemporary Christian worship music, bachelor's degree in music, vocal performance

I spent several months on and off trying to find an inexpensive upgrade for the Sennheiser IE4 earbuds I had been using for leading contemporary-style music in worship. When I found these for under $100 and read the great reviews they were getting, I knew this was the way to go. I've been using them for around two months now and the over-the-ear design is a huge improvement for keeping my guitar strap from pulling them out of my ears by the cord. The clarity of sound is also a huge improvement for hearing what everyone is playing in more detail through our Aviom monitoring system. I couldn't be more pleased with the purchase!

A Great Buy. For real.

By Ben Blevins from Springfield, MO USA on April 23, 2012 Music Background: Recording Engineering (Student)

These headphones were exactly what I was hoping for. A great pair of headphones for that 100-dollar price point that I could use both on stage and in the car. I didn't want to sacrifice quality, but I definitely couldn't break the bank when I bought these. Fantastic.

So clear makes you think twice about your favorite band

By Mark Davis from Soldotna, AK USA on April 20, 2012 Music Background: 10 years worship leading Jazz, Blues Guitarist, drums, keys, bass

I'm use these about 2 times a week in a live setting with aviom personal monitors in a full band(guitar,bass,drums,keys,2 lead vocals,3 back vocals, and everything comes through with such fullness and clarity that it has made me seriously consider the quality of bands out there. I think musicians are just throwing crap together in songs cause they know most people have bunk speakers/ear buds or something. These in-ears stay in your ear nicely with the foam sleeves that compress and fit in your ear then expand again! Great bass! Great Buy!

Excellent!!

By Steve from NJ/NY, USA on March 23, 2012 Music Background: Pro musician.

So Good!

By Kevin Cole from Purcellville, VA on February 21, 2012 Music Background: Percussion

This is my first higher quality set of ear buds. They're amazing! Though the headphones aren't noise cancelling they do a great job of blocking out the noise with the foam pieces. As a drummer that typically uses a drum shield the volume can be very overpowering. These ear buds block out enough sound to be efficient!

Great earbuds

By Davak72 on December 21, 2011 Music Background: Classical piano student of 12 years, piano tuner/technician, amateur band keyboardist, and general audiofile.

I've had these monitors for a few weeks and really like them. The sound quality is great, and when I play in the band, they block out the painfully loud drums almost entirely. I also use them for my computer and phone. In fact, using them makes me want to get a better audio card (so I can use them to their full potential). They are low impedance, so I usually have my volume down at 2 or 3 out of 100. I also use the smallest foam earpieces (they come with three sizes of foam, and three of plastic/rubber/silicone stuff), because they are the only ones that fit into my ears. In fact I would prefer some even smaller ear pieces. These really work great in general though, and I'm glad I bought them.

Awesome Sound Quality!!

By Tim from MI on August 25, 2011 Music Background: Pro Musician

I am an experienced vocalist, gig quite a bit, and can personally vouch for the awesome sound quality of these single driver in-ear monitors. I was skeptical at first until I tried them and WOW am I impressed. I was eventually going to buy some custom triple driver in-ear but decided, why bother? These are so clear that I don't really need to upgrade. I can hear every little detail in the band mix and they save my voice (from shouting) and my ears from blasting floor wedges and loud stage volumes. The stock ear buds (black foam) are perfect and block out 98% of ambient noise. I will NEVER play a gig without these again. I'm super impressed! Shure did a great job with this product. You won't be disappointed.

Excellent in ear monitor for the money

By Paul K from TX on December 13, 2023

Have served as a church worship team musician for 20 years and finally decided to buy my own in-ear monitors. The SE 215-CL's have excellent sound isolation and a reasonably flat frequency response with a surprisingly good low end which is great for the times I play bass! The high end response around 10 kHz and above is reduced, but I don't find this to be an issue for in-ear monitoring. I highly recommend these.

best seller for a reason

By Sweetwater Customer on August 1, 2023

This is my second set. I had dropped my first pair on the floor and then accidentally stepped on them ruining on of the earbuds.

Ok, so old school single driver, but I'm not sure (no pun intended) it really matters for monitoring live sound. These are really good, prolly all most people will ever need. Maybe not the last word in resolution or extension in bottom or top for listening to music playback, but that's not the intent. These are live performance monitors, not an 'audiophile' device. I have a set that is better for that (KZ) but they will not stay in my ears when playing despite trying multiple tips and the connectors are really flimsy.

Robust construction. Will last (unless ya step on em.....) nice heavy cable that locks into place which swivels to get the over the ear loop just right. and is replaceable. This is pro quality gear on a budget. I would guess the multiple driver versions sound pretty awesome, but the price goes up dramatically.

Prolly be buying more sets to have available to guest at my music studio.

Only 4.5 stars because of the lack of frequency extension, but again, don't think it matters all that much for my use.

Great in-ear monitors!

By Garrett on May 26, 2023 Music Background: Church music ministry director/band member and singer/songwriter

I had been using over-ear Sennheiser headphones for hear back at my church for years now because they were easy on easy off. Now that I'm gearing up to do some solo gigs I wanted something much more subtle with decent sound and good isolation. That's what I got with these.

First, they sound amazing. Crystal clear sound with great isolation and they shape pretty well over my ears. The best part, and I always get excited about this, they fit in my ears right out of the box. Usually I'm fumbling between ear pieces trying to find the right size. So that was a huge plus.

The reason I gave them 4 1/2 stars was because they don't come with a clothing clip to run the cable through. I prefer to run these down my back under my shirt to help hide it and keep it from swinging or snagging. It's not a huge deal and I was able to find clips that worked but would be nice to have something that came with it.

Thanks to Kenny for being my go-to guy now and for checking in every so often to see how my gear is working!

Great for IEMs

Crazy Good Quality

By Daniel Maasen from First Baptist Church of Jackson, Missouri on December 23, 2020 Music Background: Worship Pastor

I bought these IEMs for our entire worship team to replace the ones that came with the transmitter/receivers that we got. After researching ones in our price range, the hype behind these IEMs convinced me to try them out. Wow! These things have great sound parameters with actually present lows. They're comfortable once you find the ear-piece that fits the best (it comes with 6 - 3 foam pairs and 3 rubber) and very noice-cancelling. So much so, that once my team got them all in their ears, we had to take them out again or talk into mics in order to talk with each other!
Setup isn't too bad, but it took each team member probably 15-20 minutes from receiving the gift before we were able to begin using them - changing the size of ear buds takes a bit of time and the release doesn't work as intuitively as the instructions would lead you to believe, but once you've got the size you want on them, you can be pretty confident that they won't fall out on you.
Excellent product, will definitely buy again when we get more team members.

Like a lot of us I have been thinking about going in-ears for a long time; glad I finally did! My transition was enhanced as I have been wearing ear protection for many years. Personal highlights of the SE215s include the single-driver is more than adequate - I cover country and classic rock...50+ dates a year with both our band's own sound and the concert-style sound supplied by select venues. The additional selection of sleeves included is awesome; am still using the stock sleeves attached. Once the sleeves expand/position themselves the audio quality is absolutely awesome! The price-point seems unbeatable plus...they're Shures!

Game Changers

By Ken from TX on January 3, 2018

First thing-it's a life changing event, getting rid of those cumbersome stage monitors! Second, the sound isolating function is just what my tired 'ol ears needed. I've been playing live gigs since 1981 and my ears have developed a sensitivity to "cymbal noise", to put it mildly. The SE215's let me hear the cymbals in the mix yet blocks the actual stage frequency(ies) that were becoming unbearable at times. I know I have some measurable ear damage, no doubt, yet I hear a full spectrum stereo mix with these in-ears. I mix/master my recordings with a set of Avantone MixPhone MP-1 headphones; they are really flat and honest. I've also added a serious listening session to each mix with the SE215's:even though they are light on bass frequencies they've become essential to the process. My only dislike is the surgery required to change out different ear pieces. Be careful and watch a video or two before attempting that task!

Great product

First time using this type of IEM. Sound quality is good, isolates all outside noise, feels very comfortable in and around your ear. Cable joints and other construction looks very road worthy and strong. Cable lenght is good too, not too long not too short. If you are playing live, this is a must!

If you need reliable, durable, good sounding monitors/headphones then look no further. These are definitely worth the price. I use these while mowing the lawn, as well as playing drums, singing, guitar playing, all of it. I use these with the separate yellow ear inserts for extra sound isolation and stability in my oddly shaped ears. The sound doesnt blow me away, but it is very very good. These will last you for years (im on year 3) and so will the well made case that comes with it.

By Dave from San Luis Obispo County on August 27, 2017 Music Background: Acoustic strings (Uke, Banjo, Guitar, Dobro, Mando) for 50 years. Acoustic & electric. Predominantly in worship settings these days.

These work really well in our large & often loud worship team setting. As an acoustic/electric guitarist, I have to lower the bass in the EQ as these IEMs tend to be a bit heavy on the bottom end with my acoustic. That is not an issue as the sound quality & isolating effectiveness makes playing with tracks, clicks & digital prompts so much easier. Fit is excellent & I'm thrilled for the price point. May upgrade to 3 drivers but for now these are just right. Thank you Sweetwater for the excellent consultation before, during and afterwards.

I'm still adjusting to how they feel in my ear...very different from other earphones. To me, they still feel slightly uncomfortable, but maybe with more time it will be okay. Great quality!!

By Erica from Big Bear Lake, CA on November 27, 2016

I contacted my agent, Andrew at Sweetwater for advice on ear buds. I recently started performing with the worship team at church and wasn't quite sure what I needed since I would be playing guitar and/or singing. Andrew suggested these 'in-ear monitors' and what a great choice!! Sound isolating is an understatement as they need to be removed to hear anything other than what you are hearing from the monitor system. This is the first time I have ever used a monitor system so I wasn't quite sure what to expect. They took some getting use to as far as how snug they fit, and also identifing which earphone fit in which ear. (I soon realized that each one is marked with an identifying color dot for this purpose.) Overall, I believe these were exactly what I needed.

Great sound.

By Sweetwater Customer on November 3, 2016

These earphones offer great sound. The only problem is the cable doesn't stay put around my ears and the ear buds won't stay in my ears, especially when I'm out walking. I guess I'll have to enjoy them in the comforts of my home while relaxing.

Excellent in-ear monitors. We picked these up for our entire church worship band. Everyone loves using the IEMs now! Clear sound. Solid bottom end - the bass player even likes them! Only complaint, the smallest cushion is too big for some of the petite women:)

Can't go wrong for this price! These buds sound great and stay in while I'm wearing them whether it be on stage or doing yard work. They're very comfortable and being they're clear in color, they blend in well without being overly obvious.
Sure you can step up to the 315 or even the 1500 series but the extra $100 for the 315 wasn't worth it for me and I don't have $3000 for the big boys.

Great deal for the money for a good full sound.

Great low cost monitors!

By LD Pierce from Findlay, OH on May 22, 2016

Bought these the other day as a spare pair and also to use in everyday situations like listening to music while I work out or do work outside like mowing grass, et cetera.

Couple of things about these monitors. First, they come with the medium size foam sleeves attached as the default. The sleeves are really held in place tightly, so if you need to change them, don't get frustrated, just carefully work them off so you don't damage them. Second, when you put these in your ear and want to test which size sleeve you need, start some music and if you cannot hear the bass, use your index fingers to press and hold them tighter in each ear. If you hear the bass after you press on them, then the sleeve is too big and you need to go smaller.

Second - the leads and buds are color coded with little dots. Red is the right ear and blue is the left ear. Make sure the correct leads are connected to the monitors - otherwise, things will be backwards!

Third, the first few inches of the leads coming off the buds is stiff, but bendable - this is so you can bend it up and behind your ear so it holds it in place and routes the leads behind your head to your neck. This is a great feature, but remember to use the wire slide to snug up the left and right wires at the base of your neck - otherwise, you can easily pull one of the buds out of your ear (if you wrap the lead to the right to plug it in, it will start to pull the left monitor out of your ear if you don't use the wire slide to snug it up and vice versa).

Lastly - crank them up! Run up the volume, check them out to find the right levels, and enjoy! Keep in mind these are single driver monitors - they are not going to give a full range, phenomenal sound like the Shure SE425 or SE535 models (also available from Sweetwater), but they do put out plenty of sound.

If you are looking for a good quality set of monitors to just listen to music from any source, I highly recommend these. They make the cheap buds that come with cell phones or that you find at big box stores sound like a 1945 AM radio station. Great Product!

Great Sound and Isolation

By Stevens Blanchard from West Lebanon, NH on April 25, 2016 Music Background: 20 year touring musician

Great sound and isolation for in-ear monitoring. Took me a bit to get used to wearing them; you have to really shape the foam and form the cable up and around your ear. My one complaint is that I blow them out. I don't think it's due to volume but sweat. We are very active performers and we sweat while playing. I think it doesn't take much sweat to kill the high end in the drivers of these things.

New User in home/studio

By Bruce Wales from Payson, Az on December 31, 2015 Music Background: Guitar, bass, player; Pine View Studio owner.

The SE 215s give me the feathery-lite, accurate-audio portability I need.
As great as they are, however, solving the high population of ear hair requires drastic measures. Once that is solved, I'll probably give them 5 stars. Still, Wa-a-ay better than without in so many ways, lower room noise contributing to spouse happiness being number one.

Find and use the right tips!

By Robert M from Boynton Beach on October 24, 2015

As only a second-time user of IEMs, I was ready to toss these earphones after about 20 minutes because they sounded like crap. SUPER thin, almost no bass. Long story short: by experimenting with the various included rubber and memory foam tips, I was finally able to find a pair that fit my ear the RIGHT way. And wow, what a difference! I'm using the narrower memory foam tips. When the right tips are placed in the right way, you get a full seal of your ear canal, tons of ambient noise reduction and a really nice sound with plenty of bass. You'll know it when you hear it. So don't give up. Be prepared to spend some time with these earphones, both for finding the right tips and for practicing putting them in. Maximizing their sound is all about getting the right fit.

Nice earbuds.

By Dean Powers from Toledo on October 12, 2015 Music Background: Vocalist

These are the first earbuds I've owned for use as IEMs and I'm very satisfied with them.having tried earbuds for things like I pods and I phones in the past, I was concerned with comfort, since those earbuds left my ears sore after only an hour of use. I can wear these comfortably for a full four hour gig, removing them of course, during breaks. The bass response is lacking (which I've come to expect from ear buds, but the earpieces seal nicely and provide excellent sound isolation.

Great earbuds for me!!

By Dave from Cincinnati, OH on September 16, 2015 Music Background: bass player, vocalist

I'm a bass players/vocalist. I've found that the "better", multi-driver buds don't work for me. My first set was the Shure #1, which I liked. I then decided to try some the E3 & E4's. They were also very good. But I'd reached a point where my buds were no longer functional (cables literally disintegreted - crumbled to pieces). Shure no longer manufactured any of the buds I'd been using & I'd heard so much about other manufacturers blowing away the current Shure models. I tried Westone 5 driver units......Future Sonics (which came highly recommended). I even had some custom molded units. While I loved the fit of the molded system, I could hear properly out of any of these units. I couldn't hear the lowest notes on my bass. My entire monitor was a muddy mess. I couldn't distinguish individual notes. I kept messing around & experimenting for a year...............and I was MISERABLE. Finally, I decided to try the cheapest set of pro ear buds out there-the Shure E215. And suddenly, my problem was solved. I believe the inability for this set to produce super low notes is a benefit. I can hear my bass & my vocal CLEARLY, without a bunch of extra low end muddying the waters. I need the pitch of the note and the E215 allows me to hear it. I keep 2 sets with me at all times. I was concerned about the detachable cable being an issue, as I tend to sweat quite profusely. Overall, I'm quite happy with the E215....and so thankful to have put an end to the exhausting search for a solution.

Shure SE215 Ear buds

In Ear Monitors

By Terry Cook from Dyer, IN on July 27, 2015 Music Background: 40 years as singer/drummer

These are a good deal for the money. I use them as an in ear monitor in a live music situation. They sound great and are very comfortable. They seal out the surrounding sound so I can concentrate on mixing, singing and playing drums. I highly recommend them to anyone who needs a good monitor without spending a fortune. They also appear to be sturdily built.

Shure SE215

By Andrew on April 20, 2015 Music Background: Piano, Worship Leader, Drummer

I ordered these earphones in order to get into the personal in ear monitoring world. I was using $17 earphones before deciding to upgrade. I narrowed my choices down to these earphones and the Westone UM pro 10s. At this point, I was looking to not spend a lot of money, and these two sets of earphones fell into my price range. I had a good friend who opted for the Westones, and he loved them. He said the only downside was the bass was not quite there. He could hear bass, but it was a little weak.

After reading several reviews, I opted for the Shure 215s. I know Shure has a good name and they would not produce any junk. I was right. These earphones are crystal clear and with enough bass response for my needs at my church with our in-ear setup. I'm sure the triple and quad driver earphones out there sound much better than these, but for $99.00 you can't beat it. I really like the fact that these fit your ears like earplugs. Makes for a good seal from exterior noise. I would highly recommend this product. The reason I did not give five stars is because I have only been using them for about a week. We will see how they hold up!

Shure SE215

By Randy F from Lititz Pa. on November 14, 2014 Music Background: Worship team, classic rock, blues

I got a set of SE215 iem's to use with my ipod. I've been using Westone UM1 iem's when I play on the Worship team at church. I got used to the better sound quality from them so when I needed to replace my cheap earbuds for my ipod, I searched at Sweetwater and thought I would give these SE215's a try. I used them at practice through our Aviom system and I was very pleased with the sound.

I think they sound evert bit as good as the Westones and I think the Westones are great. I gave the SE215's a 4.5 only because they aren't quite as comfortable as the Westones. The Kevlar cables are plenty long and plenty strong, but a little stiff making a comfortable fit a little more of a challenge. Overall the kit as a whole is a great value for my needs. Shure or Westone, either one is great quality for the price, and as usual Sweetwater's service was outstanding.

good buy, great sound

By Hugh from Rogers, AR on September 22, 2014 Music Background: Gitar for decades. Ply live but not often enough.

Ue them as monitors in church and with 80s cover band. Quite good. Fit is fine. Well made and appear solid. Directly compared with Shure 535 (three driver) and other than the expected loss of bass clarity, they stand up very well. The biggest difference is that I can buy 4 pairs of these for the same money. 1/2 point off for bass response but I knew that when I bought them.

First IEM's.

By Jeff from Chicago IL on July 30, 2014 Music Background: FOH/Monitor Engineer, Songwriter.

This is my first pair of IEM's and I couldn't be happier. I'm a FOH and Monitor engineer, most time i'm pulling double duty on one console and the band is always asking me to modify their in ear or wedge mixes. Most times I'm on an x32 or another digital console that is able to connect to an ipad. I bought these and a galaxy in ear system and I walk around these venues wirelessly while mixing, When they ask me to modify their mix all i do is hit a button on my ipad and Their mix goes straight into my ears, so i'm hearing exactly what they're hearing and I can modify from there... its great. These IEM's are only single driver.. but they sound better then any pair of ear buds i've ever owned. they're pretty accurate. My only thing with them (not necessarily a complaint) Because they're noise canceling, when they're in your ears, you cannot hear a single thing outside of them. I was putting them in the other day and someone was talking to me, once they were in, I saw their mouth moving but I could not hear them at all. Could be a good or a bad thing.

Great Stage Monitoring Earbuds

By Ron Coddington from Raleigh, NC on June 20, 2014 Music Background: Keyboards - Worship Team

On stage worship team keyboardist. We have in-ear monitoring with personal mix control. I had been using a set of ME Electronics M6 ear buds purchased for about 20 bucks. They seemed fine, but I sort of felt I could get better sound quality if I invested a little more. Read tons of reviews and settled on the Shure SE215.

As usual Sweetwater's delivery and packaging was excellent. I opened the box, pulled out the ear buds and tip assortment and pretty quickly found a set of tips that fit my narrow ear passages perfectly and did an amazing job of blocking out ambient noise. Comfortable, too. The audio quality on CDs . . . basically off the charts from my perspective. Highs were crisp and well-defined, vocals came through clearly, bass was solid, no mud, and not over-stated at all. I seemed to be able to hear clearly and distinguish all the instrumental subtleties far better than with the M6s. Shure's single driver design seems able to do an amazing job across the whole sound spectrum. But on stage would be the test - could these puppies give solid ambient noise isolation and deliver a better overall quality of mix during a worship service? That first practice night I scored these a perfect ten.

Another nice feature is the cabling; seems to be sturdy and simply will not tangle as did the light M6 cables. Also the cables are of a slippery material which slides nicely under my clothing for on stage wear. Plus the extra cable length Shure provides gives me a longer length where the cable pops out at my belt to better reach the extension cable from my monitor box.

Of course, it's not a perfect world yet. There are two minor negatives. The first is the relative difficulty of installing these in my ears - the tips fit snugly so getting each ear bud aligned and pressed in takes a bit longer compared to the others I had been using. Practice should improve this. The second is the fact that the R and L markings on the ear buds are very difficult to read. However, they also are color coded so once I got the R and L colors figured out that problem went away. Of course, you cannot install them in the wrong ears - you can try, but they just won't fit.

Finally I must add that a significant problem emerged after several weeks of use when the sound output began to suddenly drop off in one of the ear buds. Off . . . then back on and repeat after several minutes. Very disorienting while on the keyboard. I wiggled the connections; I took time to clean the connections with a toothpick dipped in contact cleaner; I did a burn-in cycle. None of that helped. My tech guy at Sweetwater said, "Forget that . . . send 'em back . . . we'll replace 'em". And they fulfilled that commitment, getting the replacements to me very quickly. This second set works perfectly.

In sum, Shure has a winner with this product, and the Sweetwater commitment to us end users cannot be beat. We will see how the SE215s endure over time, but right now I could not be more pleased with this purchase.

Shure SE215 , Break them in right .

By Mark T from Houston, Texas on May 29, 2014 Music Background: Live Sound Engineer

Shure SE215 are some awesome sounding IEM's for the price . Over all the sound quality is great for LIVE applications . Some say that the mid-range is a little harsh , it's not , this bump allows the vocals to cut thru the instruments . Also , these can produce some decent bass by proper fitting of the sleeves and wearing them correctly . But use of an EQ is always recommended .

HOWEVER - you must break these IEM's in . Let them play at moderate levels for at least a day . After some breaking in , these units really rock . We have had several ear pieces act up ( lower volume on one side or the other ) . Luckily they were not damaged and after being broken in they now perform flawlessly .

Worth the money.

By John Niven from Katy, TX, USA on May 27, 2014 Music Background: Amateur musician and audio tech.

I was looking for a way to monitor the sound of a fun jam band while minimizing external sound leakage, These definitely do that. The construction inspires one to believe they will last, especially with the replaceable chord. I normally use a pair of Sennheiser hd565, and these buds compare well sonically.
They are, however, very difficult to get in and out. You have to get out of the habit of pulling them off to talk to others! It's difficult to identify right from left, so stick some tape on one side. :-)

IEM's for drummers that sing

By Ray H. from Kalispell, MT on April 26, 2014 Music Background: 50's - 70's pop rock drums/vocals

Well, here's one for you. I just now got these SE215's from SW and soundwise they are great. I am a drummer and do a one man band thing using MIDI tracks for the music. I supply percussion (acoustic drums) and the vocals over a honkin' sound system. I have been using Direct Sound EX25's for monitors and isolation and they work well for me. I have always wanted to try IEM's (vanity) but what a surprise I got!
Isolation is basically too good for my needs but that could be remedied. The big surprise for me was what happened when singing. Between bone conduction and eustahcian tube resonances I experienced many artifacts which were unpleasant. Try plugging your ears (maybe push on the little 'flaps' to close them) and then hum in the lower registers going up and down the scale - you will hear yourself very plainly and will discover resonances where the level peaks considerably. Every head is different internally and the effect may vary but for me it is pronounced enough where it bugs the heck out of me when singing. To be certain it was not the SE215's - I tried the same thing with them in my ears and unplugged with the same results. I conclude that it is not the SE215's - $1500 IEM's would do the same thing. Many of the reviews I read before the purchase were from drummers but I did not know if they were singing drummers. One can sing with these in your ears but you will have to live with the artifacts. Maybe I'm all wet - anyone else experience this effect? Again, this is not a fault of the SE215's - they sound great and do provide good isolation. I will stick with the cans.

Best earbuds for your monitor

By Rev. JohnMark Smith from Springfield, IL USA on April 14, 2014 Music Background: 48 years on bass instruments

When I learned my worship team was going to ear monitors only, I was concerned because I have significant hearing loss in one ear. Earbuds for monitor systems can cost hundreds of dollars and being a bass player, I was especially concerned with bass response. I bought these for $99 and was very happy with the quality of sound.

I've used a lot of monitoring earbuds, including Shure's former top-of-the-range 535s. None can compare to the comfort of the Shure range for me, and the sound quality and sound staging of the 215's is extremely impressive for the money. Leave it to Shure to offer such an excellent product, even at the entry to the product range.

I have to say I've depended on my sennheiser IE6 for over 10 years and finnaly they died. So I got these as a likely replacement. Very good sound quality! Maybe could have a little more bass response. The fit around the ears takes a little getting used to. Otherwise a good replacement at a decent price!

Comfortable, great sound, great price, can't go wrong!

By Brian from United States on January 18, 2014 Music Background: Recording Engineer, Live Sound Engineer, Experienced musician/Worship Leader

I unboxed these about 20 minutes ago and I've already gotten them shaped to fit my ears (excellent feature!) comfortably. They fit great, they aren't going anywhere, no matter how crazy I get on stage. I've listened to 4 or 5 songs of various styles and they sound excellent across the board. They are slightly bass heavy (not overbearing, they're no Dr. Dre "Beats"), but I am used to studio reference headphones and studio reference near-field monitors. Most people will probably think the bass is just right. All of this for $99? You seriously can't go wrong. For the working musician, I can't imagine ever needing one of the more expensive models. Sweetwater's customer service was excellent as always, and they shipped very quickly.

Buy these!! There's no better way to spend $100!

By Daniel from Marietta, GA on October 23, 2012 Music Background: Musician and Recording Engineer

The short version of this review is simple: if you’re on the fence about buying these phones or you’re just trying to keep a $100 budget, stop hesitating and buy these. For the price, you simply won’t find anything better.

My first impression of the SE215’s was quite disappointing. But then I discovered that I wasn’t wearing them properly, and after correcting the problem my ears were launched into a state of pure sonic bliss. MAKE SHURE YOU ARE WEARING THEM CORRECTLY BEFORE DISMISSING THEM!! If the buds aren’t properly seated in your ear, or the foam earpieces don’t completely seal off your ear canal, they will sound horrid, with sharp shrill highs, over-pronounced mids, virtually zero lows, and a very thin, bright sound overall. Not to mention they will be fairly uncomfortable. I have a hunch that some of the low reviews were a result of improperly wearing them.

However, once you figure it out, make sure you’re close to a chair, because you will get knocked off your feet! I can hear details in my music collection that I never knew existed. I conducted a frequency response test by sweeping a pure sine wave across the sonic spectrum and the SE215’s did not disappoint. They faithfully reproduced everything from 20Hz to the upper limits of my hearing (about 17kHz, but I’m sure they go much further). I’ll be using these to do most of my intricate mixing from now on unless I decide to upgrade my monitors. These in-ear monitors can fully produce lows that my monitors can’t even touch.

Honestly, I was skeptical about buying these and I was also considering similarly priced products from other brands. I ultimately decided to get these because their frequency response is more flat and I wanted to use them for mixing and stage use, in addition to everyday listening. However, they still throw down enough bass to satisfy even the most demanding bass-happy rap fanatic. Another point worth mentioning is that they didn’t move a bit after a solid 10 seconds of heavy head-banging. Of course, more expensive earphones like the SE515’s will sound even better, but we’re talking about a $100 set here!

Seriously, what are you waiting for!? BUY THESE EARPHONES!!

Save your hearing and improve your singing

This was the answer to all of my problems hearing myself and the mix on stage! I wish I hadn't put it off for so long. My hearing wouldn't have suffered so much.

Great bang for the buck!

By Mack Kenamond from Los Alamos, NM USA on June 6, 2012 Music Background: Hobbyist, garage band member

This is my first set of in-ear monitors, so I really can't compare these SE215's to anything but over-ear or buds.

My band has been struggling with monitoring for over a year, and part of the solution is in-ear monitoring. Once we got personal monitor mixing (Elite Core DM-16, IM-16, and several PM-16s), we were able to get personal mixes to each member, but the drums (acoustic) still filled the room and made it difficult to hear the main mix and individual channels.

So we all went out and got in-ear monitors. WOW!!! A couple of us got the SE215's due to the low price. It's truly a night and day difference. After you get the hang of it, they're easy to put in your ears, loop over your ear so the weight is carried by your ear, can run down your front or back, and don't pull loose. Actually, everyone has been forgetting they're in, walking around, and having our heads yanked back when the slack runs out, and they don't pull out even then. The drummer has a different model that doesn't go over the ear, and he's had problems with them falling out.

As for sound quality, I'm pleased. I can hear the bass guitar, kick drum, floor tom, bass vocals and low keyboard notes no problem, which is an issue with ear buds or even over-ear monitoring head phones. The higher frequencies are clear. I'm not a sound engineer, so I can't speak to fidelity and the like, but if you want to hear the monitor mix and not what's "outside" in the room, these are a great deal!

One word of caution...be careful when you're tinkering with your monitor mix. Your band mates won't appreciate when you turn up a channel and (accidentally) blow their socks off. Feedback can be a cause for near panic, too. We rely on our personal monitor mixers' head phone output compressor option to save us.

Shure SE215 in ear monitors

By Bill Moskowitz from Greeneville, TN on May 14, 2012 Music Background: Amateur sound engineer at churches for 15 years

I recently switched our church from stage monitors to in ears. I started with cheaper in ears & received complaints from the entire worship team (10 people). They wanted their speakers back, but after I purchased the Shure's, they are all happy as can be. I don't think you can beat them for the price. The advice I received from your Bart Good was right on.

Great Value - Great Product

By Gene Holdway from Greer,, SC on May 12, 2012 Music Background: Working Musician, Recording Engineer Wanna Be, Live Sound Engineer

I use these live in a bluegrass and acoustic seting. They are very clear across the frequency ranges and give me exactly what I need. I have no inclination to go to more expensive sets. I'm actually looking at buying another set or two to keep in various guitar cases (I use them "wired" so I don't have the receiver) - they work great this way.

The only drawback is that if you have never used this design, there is a very specific way to get these to fit in the ear, Get that down pat before trying them on stage

And Brandon Eden got them to me in short order! He's great!

Wonderful In-Ear Monitors

If you sing, you need these!

By Ted from NW Pennsylvania on March 28, 2012 Music Background: Gigging local singer and guitarist for 30 years

My band has the Audio Technica M5 in-ear monitor system, but the earbuds are pretty shaky. We bought these based on reviews and wow! They sound great, and seal so well that I can walk out front and barely hear the mains unless I take one out. Then I hurry and put it back in because the sound is too much! The ONLY reason I don't give a 5 is because they will distort a bit with all four guys singing and if we crank up the bass.

The thing is this... you hear everything, everywhere you go on stage. No more blaring stage wedges. No more feedback. No more volume battles with the guitarist. No more straining to sing over the noise. I sing Journey, and with wedges I struggled to get through some of the tunes and even through the night. No more. My pitch is better and I never strain to get the notes, because I am not singing nearly as hard.

The AT is a good system, but these buds are a necessary upgrade. Your throat will never give out again. Your ears will never ring again after a gig. You will never struggle to hear what you are singing or playing. I was going to get Alien Ears triple drivers, but these are doing the job for me. If you are in a band, and especially if you sing, go with in-ears NOW! It's worth every penny. And if you have in-ears but aren't happy with the buds, this unit is a huge bang for the buck. Plus they sound great with ipod and seal out noise well enough you can mow the grass and listen to music. Like the other reviewer said... just do it already. You won't be disappointed.

Great sound for $99!

By Brent from Houston, TX on November 21, 2011 Music Background: Independent/Studio Drummer

The SE215 produce the quality sound I'm used to from the previous two pairs of Shure earphones I've owned in the past. For $99, this set has good bass, solid mids, and non-overbearing highs. The quality of the cable seems much better than the older (and more expensive) Shures I already own.

These are a great buy, especially for anybody looking to upgrade from their cheap Apple earphones.

Superb phones... at any price

By John Fry from Philadelphia, PA on July 26, 2011 Music Background: Audiophile

There is so much to like about these in-ear phones that it's hard to be succint. I listen to a wide variety of music but I'm more critical of the reproduction when I am listening to classical and opera because it gives the phones a hard time. Not with these. I have a pair of SE535 and these guys are not embarrassed by them, which is saying something considering the 535's are over $400. On 'regular' music and I would say anything that is not very bass heavy like Hip Hop, Reggae et.al they are really superb. If you listen to the bass heavy stuff and you want even more then either adjust the eq on the ipod or get something more suited to that (Dr. Dre etc).

The SE215s manage to avoid the vices of cheap sound reproduction; uncomfortable treble, flat sounding and rolled off or exaggerated bass without being bland. The phones are pretty much neutral but they have a way of letting you get into the music without constantly noticing them. They are involving and comfortable to listen to for long periods of time which is somtheng most people who have used the standard or low end earphones may not relate to. Let's put it this way. If you have tried the standard iPod phones, and who hasn't, then migrated to a $40 - $50 pair you're going to breathe a sigh of relief because you can actually listen to the music. With these it goes about 3 steps farther because you WANT to listen to music. It becomes fun not just a background filler. The sound isn't just better by miles it's more involving and you wind up looking for things to listen to and there's this annoying desire to let other people hear what they are missing. They are very very good

Now the other side, and it is minor - for me. When you listen to these guys you probably want to look into the white flanged ear tips. These are the only ones I found that sealed well, were comfortable and did not let the phones fall out. Why would the phones fall out? The cables are replaceable which is fantastic! Anyone who has used phones that fit into a small pouch thing will know that, after a while, the cable get's worn, usually on the inside. Replacing it meant a phone replacement. Not so anymore. That means the cables are a little heavier and that means they drag at the phones a bit. The regular ear tips are all good but may, stress may, not give you the security you need. The white guys solve that issue 100% and really let the phones shine in the sound department. that is the only negative I have found and it is the same for all the Shure SE range and probabaly half a dozen other phones.

Lastly the kicker. The warranty. Shure offer a 2 year unconditional warranty for these guys. When I got my SCL5's back in 2005 or so I used them for 18 months and then broke on of the tip things by not using the superb little case. Shure replaced them free with a brand new pair. About a year later I did the same thing (I don't learn) again they replaced them. After another year I wore them playing sports and shorted them out from sweat, yep they replaced them again. Finally the cord gave out and I thought...that's it I am done. Not so. I sent them off and although they were out of warranty Shure charged me just $150 and sent me the latest version of the SE535! Superb service. I do not think any company comes close. Buy these phones you won't regret it and also you can buy them as a gift knowing that the recipient will have no problems...ever (I don't even have to say 'for the price').

Competition? I've compared then to Dr Dre and Bose; the bass over powers the Shure's by a fair margin. Klipsch 4i, which are cheaper but more fatiguing are closest I suppose so if $100 is a bit much look at them. The Etymotics 4pt are really for those people who like super analtical sound and I would not recommend that at this price point since the otehr equipment becomes an issue (iPod for example - you'll need a head amp with the Etys). I also compared them to my own reference the SE535, like I said they were not embarrased.

Two last comments. There are some super head amps for iPods out there like the Fiio E7, Icon etc. These phones LOVE them. For the money they are a no brainer. Also try, just try, ripping your CD's lossless onto the iPod, you'll be amazed at what you have been missing. Enjoy!

Very impressed!

By Mark from Tulsa, OK on April 20, 2011 Music Background: Semi-professional musician.

I really wasn't expecting a $99.00 pair of earphones to have superb sound but the sound quality of the SE215's really impressed me. They come VERY close to my $250.00 dual driver earphones of another maker. They do take a bit of finesse to find that 'sweet spot' in my ears (hence the 4.5) but once I picked the correct size tip and found the right spot, the frequency range was excellent. Smoothe response from low-end (not overly punchy or distorted) all the way to the high-end (not harsh). Very comfortable plus they sit flush with my head, unlike my other in-ears. For the price, I would highly recommend them!

It's not bad; works as advertised

By Greg from New York, NY on July 26, 2023 Music Background: Drums, Piano

I haven't had any issues with it, and it gets the job done. Sound quality is average/flat, but perfectly suitable for live sound applications. They're comfortable enough, and they mostly stay in the ear; you might just have to give them a push in-between songs.

Great sound quality

By Becky A from Sheffield Village OH on November 16, 2022 Music Background: Vocals, acoustic guitar, bass guitar (amateur)

I am not a professional musician, but simply play bass in.my church's worship band.i was looking for some good in-ears and these were recommended.i was amazed at the difference from my low end in-ears that I had been using, especially in the distinction of sounds. Hearing the bass line in any song is SOuch easier now. I am not thrilled with how the wires wrap around your ears, especially with glasses on but this may just need some getting used to. I also had custom molds made (different company) so they fit very well now.

Fine sound for the $$

By Dennis H. from NC on March 21, 2022 Music Background: Guitar, bass player

These in-ear phones are delivering as good a quality as you have a right to expect for the $ price. I use them for praise team work at our church with guitar and vocals, and they were a vast improvement from the cheap ones that came with the boxes we purchased for the in-ear system. I do wish someone would invent a way to get them securely around your ears faster! I also was impressed with the support of my Sweetwater rep, who could have easily recommended something more expensive for my needs but said I'd be fine with the Shures for now.

Overall ok

By Bobbie J Dinkel from KS on February 9, 2021

It's been quite an adjustment to get used to these headphones. Sound is good. The fit in my ear could be better. Not staying in very well. Changed the ends several times, still can't find the right fit. But overall worth the money I spent.

Great budget intro to in-ears!

By Josh from Fort Worth, TX on September 23, 2019 Music Background: 20 years of live drums and electronic music production

The price is right and the build quality is great, but was a little disappointed in the sound quality on first listen as the response is pretty much totally 'flat,' which is cool and works fine in an actual monitoring situation, but is a bit of a shock when you A/B them with your ear buds listening to mastered music on your phone or whatever.

They're a little tricky to get in and get comfortable at first, but once I got the wire bent around my ears just right, they were locked in and never once budged or felt loose while playing drums on an hour long, super sweaty outdoor set in the Texas heat.

Depending on your needs, you might be better served spending a little more money to get something with more drivers and better bass response, but if you need a super flat, super solid, no frills set of in-ears, these work great.

Fit nice, well built, sound good

I like everything about these earphones when using them in a performance environment (I play in our church band/orchestra). However, when listening to music, the bass playback is not great - wish it had more.

Either my wife or I have had a pair of these with us for 7 years. At one point we each had a set, and we"d keep a backup set for when one of the guys would forget their ears. Sturdy, dependable, great fit, comfortable and great sound for entry level IEMs. I have played from the coast of the Carolinas to the Golden Gate Bridge and there is almost always a set of SE215"s in my bag.

Good basic IEMs, Try other tips for fit.

By Josh on November 20, 2017 Music Background: Performing musician/Audio Tech

These are plenty fine for most of your IEM needs, and a good buy for the price.

Fit and isolation really depends on finding the right eartips for your ears. If you don't find what you like with the included ones, check out the Westone's True Fit, which will also fit these (available in a kit of assorted sizes of foam and silicone). Shure also makes some triple flanged tips that will work for some.

The cable is not my favorite (a little thicker and less flexible than I prefer), but has proven to be durable.

SE215

By David from NC on March 22, 2017 Music Background: Gospel/Praise and Worship

This is my first experience with in ear monitor system. The SE215's were recommended by our sound tech. So far so good.

My favorite in the price range

By bass guy from Connecticut on March 5, 2017

Good isolation; the default set of foam buds were a perfect fit for me right away, but it takes a little practice to get the fit consistently. Decent fidelity: the bass frequencies seem tight (definitely not hyped like others in this price range), the upper midrange is a bit relaxed and the details in the treble come through nicely.

I use these for casual listening, not critical monitoring or live IEM use. If you are considering these for live monitoring, you may find that you need more upper-mid detail in your instrument's channel, but that is easy to dial in if needed.

SE215

By James Phillips from Olney, MD on January 23, 2017

I bought several sets of the Sure SE215 headphones, primarily in an effort to save my son's hearing. He and his bandmates always seemed to end up in a volume battle during practice. One couldn't hear himself, so he cranked up his monitor, and when that didn't work, their respective amps all went to "11."

My ears ring 24/7 because when we were young, we didn't know any better, and years of standing feet from a cranked SVT rig, and various other amps and P.A. systems ensured tinnitus. I hoped to spare my son that particular experience, and controlled volumes through an IEM system seemed to be a good way to go.

So far so good, their IEMs (the Sure SE215 headphones) are fed through an Art Head Amp 6 Pro slaved to the aux outputs from the mixer. No, not quite as cool or convenient as wireless, but much less expensive, plus with a system called QMix on the board, they can control their individual IEM signals via iPhone or iPad, really handy.

But I digress, back on point, the Sure SE215 headphones were very reasonably priced, and got good reviews everywhere I looked. No, they aren't audiophile quality with a single driver, but they do deliver a very good sound, and best of all stay-put, right where you place them. They also come with both rubber and foam buds, in several sizes, to fit most any ear canal well; additionally, you receive a cleaning tool, and a nice storage case.

I find that the volume wars in the basement have stopped, and all the guys are really happy with the headphones and system. A couple of them who had never used anything but iPhone ear buds had to learn how to properly put these on, but they picked it up quickly.

I personally, find the sound quality and fit to be better than I expected for their price point. They fit well, provide a good full sound, with more than adequate bottom end, as well as nicely articulated mids and highs. You really do need to take the time to figure out which insert fits your ear canal best, and how to properly put on the headphones to get the best possible sound, especially the bass levels. Once you get that tweaked, these sound great, and are quite comfortable for extended wear.

Yes, I got myself a set too, for no reason other than I just wanted them, and I'm glad I did. Very good return on your investment in terms of quality received for the price paid.

Love them!

By Sweetwater Customer on December 20, 2016

Shure Earbuds

By Sweetwater Customer on February 6, 2016

Ordered these from Sweetwater and had another great order through delivery experience with Sweetwater. Never used in-ear before, so I am in the process of getting used to them. Used them for the first time last week and I was impressed with the sound quality. There's some mixing tweaks that are on our end, but the buds were comfy and I heard what I needed to. The soft black rubber ear inserts showed some wear after just one use, and may need to be replaced already, so that's a bit of a concern. But otherwise I recommend these for in-ear monitor applications.

Great sound and reliability for the price

By Tony I from Houston on December 26, 2015 Music Background: Live, studio, etc

I've been using the e215's for several years. They are a single driver i.e. but for the sound, reliability, and price they are great. To be honest, I generally get about 3 years out of them before one of the driver goes out. I've used the more expensive ones as well and get the same mileage so I don't see the need to pay more for the same failure time. Good thick cords on the ie's so they can endure more strain, sweat and road wear than other brands.

Great ear monitors. I do have to say that you have to to play with the right ear rubber plugs to fit your ear style. Also. Trying to put the ear monitors behind the ears will require a matter of getting used to it cause you really need to bend the cables around to make sure they stay put.

My other Shure ear buds developed an intermittent connection after about 8 years of use, so it was time to replace them. With Gear Fest 2015 great deals I saved $$ and what I considered a good deal. I know there are more pricey models available but at 65 I don't think I would be able to tell the difference. Most of all I like the long cord which allows me to put my phone in my back pocket while cutting grass without the cord being tight.

Excellent sound

Good product...

By Harry Ebbeson III from Cedar Rapids, IA on June 5, 2015 Music Background: Professional

These IEM's work well and isolate sound from coming in. If you really jam them into your ears (with the right size pads that come with them), you can get a very good sound with little coming in from the outside world. I have noticed that my ears get fatigued after about 2 hours or so or constant wear and have to take them out for a few minutes. This could be just my problem, since I have not used IEM's in a long time. At first, they were also a bit trick to get fit into my ears but one I had the curved hard plastic fitted right for the outside portion of the ear, they are much easier.
On a hygiene level, make sure that you clean your ears often and certainly right before you use these so you do not create extra build-up in the holes in the pads where the sound comes from.

I recommend these. Make sure that you do not turn the volume up too high as to damage your hearing. In ears were designed to isolate the sound from coming in from the outside so you can have lower volume levels. I use them on stage with the band I play in and we use them while practicing as well and they work just fine.

They do the job

By Jay S. from Saint Paul, MN on January 6, 2015 Music Background: Guitarist, singer, play in a cover band

First set I received had a bad driver in one of the buds, kept cutting out. But Sweetwater was fast sending replacements, and for the money, these do a nice job, with clear sound and good isolation once you pick the best fitting earpiece from the included selection. I use these as in-ear monitors for live performance and can recommend them for that purpose.

Great for the price. Nice fit in the ears with plenty of options.

Best set of Ears for $100

By Ben from Orange County, CA on February 21, 2013 Music Background: Professional Sound Engineer

After having used the Shure 315s for a year I was in a pinch and needed extra ears to support an artist coming in. I bought 4 pairs of these because of the price point. Comparing the tech specs against the 315 the only major difference on the 215 model is a lack of a bass port and a slightly lower high end. I think they stop like 1k less than the 315. Needless to say I was super impressed by these ears. Incredible ears for the price! If you are just starting out I highly recommend getting a pair of these until you can afford a higher end custom molded set.

Great in ears for the price!

By Mark Harrington from Waterford, Mi. on February 18, 2013 Music Background: Professional Musician, Leader of Magic Bus Tribute Show

I don't think you'll ever beat these in ears for the price. Of course triple driver in ears sound better but are MUCH more expensive. These are built great and are VERY comfortable to wear. I have custom molded ones being repaired right now and they just may become my second pair! Lol! I've been using these on stage lately and they seal better and stay in place better they my expensive ones. If your looking for a good solid in ear for a great price you can't go wrong with these!!!

Excellent Quality

After reading many reviews, I was a tad skeptical when purchasing these headphones. Most stated they felt different frequencies were boosted too much. After using them, I completely disagree.

I get a great tone from these. Granted, I upgraded from a $20 pair of in ears so I had a lot to gain.

My Setup:

Excellent value!

By Keith from Hilton Head, SC on August 17, 2012 Music Background: Longtime rock "weekend warrior"; worship leader/guitarist

I use the SE215's as a worship guitarist at Low Country CC, a church of 1200+ people near Hilton Head, so we're in a very large room. We use an Audiom system and my mix consists of click track, lead vocal, acoustic guitar, 2 electric guitars (one of which is mine : ) a bit of keys & bass & a tiny bit of kick drum. Even though my position on the platform is right next to the drummer, the isolating shape of the SE215's really keeps my mix from being muddy or drowned out either by the drummer or the FOH mix. That's pretty impressive performance for any ear buds.
Like every other Shure product I've owned since the 60's, the design is outstanding. For example the Kevlar reinforced leads are detachable/replaceable & the selection of sleeves makes finding a comfortable fit very easy. I could have spent a lot more money without getting performance as good as the SE215's deliver. I don't think you can go wrong, especially at this price point.
BTW, the Sweetwater rep was really helpful in answering a lot of questions and making a recommendation, as I was considering a couple of other brands/models. Thanks, Matt!

Great sound and very good noise isolation

By Dennis from Floyds Knobs, IN on July 7, 2012 Music Background: part time musician

Shure SE215, quite a step up

By Bob K from Fairfax, CA on June 4, 2012 Music Background: Unmotivated Musician

Shure SE215

These are my first pair of > $60 headphones and I can safely say that adding the extra $40 is more than well worth it.

The SE215 are classified as reference monitoring earbuds but I use them as my everyday headphones (on the bus and while at work) and I'm incredibly happy with them.

They are not bass-killers. If you want "boom boom boom" then get something else.

What you'll get here is an extremely accurate reproduction of the music as it was recorded and supposed to be heard.

Taking them for a test drive, I heard moments in songs that I had been listening to for years and years and didn't know certain arrangements actually existed in the mix. I even heard extra parts in electronic music such as Autechre, which is pretty incredible.

Everything's very detailed in these earbuds.

The fit is very comfortable. It comes with many different sets of fitted earbuds. The sponge earbuds are fantastic. All you do is squish them between your thumb and index finger before you place them in your ear. After a minute the sponge expands to fill your ear cavity, providing a very nice isolation.

The over-the-ear cables took a little bit to figure out and get used to but, after that learning curve, everything was great.

They are built as solid as a tank. The cables are rock solid.

Even the carrying case it comes shipped in is nice. It's not too big and not too small. Trust me, you'll want to keep the case with the earbuds. The last thing you want is to just throw a $100 pair of earbuds in a bag and leave them banging around with other stuff.

In short, these are very very nice. I'd recommend them to anyone who wants to step up to a semi-audiophile grade of earphones.

I'm terrified that since I made the plunge into the $100 range that my next earbuds will be even more expensive. And when that happens, they will be the higher Shure models.

It's only getting four out of five stars because I'm quite sure these aren't the best headphones out there but, for the money, these are really quite nice.

Great Great Great

Wow! I put these on and was amazed at their clarity! I have an pair of custom fitted triple drivers also and I have to say that these buds come really close! Shure has always delivered quality products and again they did not disappoint! Good Job!

Great Sound, cable is short and too heavy

By Sweetwater Customer on December 28, 2011

Excellent sound quality across the spectrum. Not the most practical though - a little difficult to put in your ear though you get used to it, cable is short and its own weight alone pulls down uncomfortably at your ears. I've found that I have to tape the cord to my clothing to avoid this, as well as any accidental pulls.

Once you get used to these minor hassles, you'll love these phones. I am a drummer and use them as monitors and they block out (most) of the db's coming off my kit and allow me to hear what's going into the board.

Great for the Price!

By Aaron Bump from Wapakoneta, OH on September 19, 2011 Music Background: Worship Leader, Pro Musician, Singer/songwriter

For only $99 these create a great seal in my ear. I can barely hear anything with them in. The sound quality is far better than my (other brand) monitors.

Great value surprise

By Robbie Robinson from East Peoria, il on July 4, 2011 Music Background: Pro Musician that does it as a hobby now.

Needing some spare In-ears for rehearsal and not wanting to drop a lot of cash, the Shure SE215's seemed intriguing. I'm always skeptical about something advertised as a great item with a low price. I have to say that for the money these are excellent buds for anyone wanting to test the world of in-ear monitoring. Also, they make any iPod sound so rich and clear, very pleasant on the ears. I've owned dual driver buds in the past and I honestly have to say that for a single driver bud, it does the job and does it well.
The customer support from Sweetwater has been very pro and genuine.

Jim

By Jim from Parrish, FL on July 5, 2022 Music Background: Church musician. Been playing guitar and singing for 48 years.

These in ear monitors sound great! However, I do not like the design of how they go in your ears. They are very difficult to get in, but once they are in they stay put just fine. The wire that goes up and around the ear is too stiff. Also, I do not like the fact that the main body of the earbuds snap on and off for convenient removal. They actually come off in my hand sometimes when I'm putting them in my ears and I'm afraid I'm going to lose them. Poor mechanical design. I'll just deal with it, but not worth it.

Work well for the price

By Rod from California on August 22, 2021 Music Background: Worship leader and Music director at local church

I'm new to in ear monitors and resisted using them because of the fit. I decided to try these to get into using in- ears and am pleased with how they fit and work. The sound quality is decent, though I can't really compare them to the more expensive ones so I don't know how they rank, and they fit Ok.
I still like the sound of my outer ear headphones it these work for me when I use them.

Not Bad For The Money

By Timothy Burns from Levittown, PA on August 3, 2021

As a working drummer/singer I like to hear a full mix with an emphasis on a punchy bass/kick and my vocal. Had heard a ton of good things about these so I decided to take the leap. Taking off the sleeves for the ear buds can be tricky, but I suggest using the plastic end of the cleaning tool to assist. MAKE SURE you get a good tight fitment with the proper size sleeve or you won't get the full sound quality of these buds. They have a decent sound across all the frequencies. Bass/kick is a little underwhelming but can be EQ'd to work. They sit nice in my ears and the rigid mold part of the cable for over the ears, combined with the piece that holds the cable together, is nice and comfortable also. For the price you really can't go wrong with these as an entry level set of in ears. If you're looking for studio quality sound, I'd go up a few levels to Westone or similar.

SHURE EAR BUDS

By Sweetwater Customer on January 12, 2020 Music Background: Previous support vocals and small percussion

Love the sound for my personal music and audio books.. I don't wear them over my ears, so a bit of a challenge getting them properly situated, but they are meant for over the ears, so I am sure a 5 would be in order if they were worn they way they were meant to be worn. Also intrigued that they are clear and the 'works'can be seen. Lots of special care instructions are much appreciated, with everything included for proper care.

Vocalists...!

By Leo Higley from Santa Rosa Beach, FL on September 19, 2017

I've used competing brands in the past, but I have never had the "isolation" that these buds provide. It's amazing how quiet and comfortable they are. Simply put, they are wonderful.

As a VOCALIST:

Pros:

-Bass is great. More than enough.
-Clarity...in this price range, I have to believe it's the best? It's awesome. Really, really great.
-Multiple buds and a cleaning "brush" are included....along with a little pouch with a very useful clip!

Cons:

-The "slide up" tension piece is plastic..and slides down very, very easily. I solved this by using a very small metal "paper clip". I suppose you could do the same thing with another clip that could attach to a collared shirt..maybe? If you perform in a t-shirt and play guitar with a strap, this will become an issue!

I gave it 3.5 stars because of the poor clip. NOT because of the sound quality. If that doesn't matter to you.....you HAVE to get these! Upgrade to use on the PSM 300 series and you are set.

The ignorance of my music aptitude is poor at least. But with some overview of all recording and Stage performance. Having attended Sweetwater's engineering seminar recently. My knowledge has gained a wealth of aptitude. But with that said. It not being the fault of Sweetwater. But this knowledge needs to be turned over to you. I promise even be sure in ear monitors the lack of information on the practical application of how to insert bees into the year. There were little to no instructions on this process and and still having issues on making the units stay applied to the year. Once again with that being said that maybe a Shure manufacturing situation. I thank you so much for reading my situation and look forward to purchasing many many things in the future. God bless and have a good summer

Great sound, design could be better

By Jon Zielke from Inver Grove Heights, MN on September 4, 2016

I purchased these earphones to serve a dual purpose - as pleasure listening earphones and as IEM earphones. Overall I'm quite satisfied with their performance. The audio quality for both applications is very good. Not too harsh or fatiguing to listen to for long periods of time. The bass is present, but a little weak for my taste. But these earphones do get plenty loud and don't distort when I push the volume. The noise isolation for IEM use on stage is fantastic, especially with the black foam earpieces.
This brings me to the one downside of these earphones. It's all but impossible to remove the foam earpieces. I tried twisting and pulling as suggested by the manual but they simply don't slide off. At least not if you want to keep the foam intact. I've found that very conservatively lubricating the plastic shaft with a small amount of Vaseline helps, especially when you want to audition different earpieces for the first time. Other than this one issue, these earphones have been great and I do recommend them, especially if you're investing in your first pair of IEMs or higher quality earbuds.

Hugs Ears, Respectable Performance

By Utility Player from Kansas City, MO on December 23, 2015

I use these for live performance and fitness training. They cling tightly to my ears, eliminating the biggest frustration with ear monitors. The case and replaceable cable are useful for preserving a long life.

Comes with 3 sizes of soft ear pads. Printed Instructions for changing the ear pads are cryptic and I ruined an ear pad during my first pad change. A YouTube video explaining how to safely change ear pads without breaking the transducer housing would be helpful. Also, the red & blue left/right designation dots are unnecessarily small.

I recommend the SE215 as a minimum pro investment instead of unpredictable cheap ear buds falling out of your ears. Worth every penny.

By John Lawton from Craig, CO USA on March 22, 2013 Music Background: Singer, Songwriter, Amateur Recording Engineer, PA Owner and Operator

Please understand, at the low price, these couldn't earn more than a 4 (you do "get what you pay for").

Sweetwater almost always gets a 5 for it's BBB A+ service, which is why I chose them to be my primary supplier. Jeff Barnett is wonderful, kind, patient, [too] tolerant [of my lengthy, over-frequent e-mails].

The SE215s get a 3. Averaged (the way I did it), the total for the purchase is a 3.5.

I'm allergic to the black, latex foam rubber tips (sleeves). So, I tried the large orange foam, which would not hold the SE215s securely in my ears. So, I'm now using Shure EATFL1-6 white, flanged sleeves.

If I grab my pinnae (fleshy part of ear) and pull, while pushing hard, the Shure SE215s will fully insert and not stick out. As I clip the cord to my shirt collar, run the joiner on the cables up to the back of my head, and leave a small loop in between, the 215s stay securely in my ears for hours at a time, unless I hit the cables with my hands.

The SE215s serve their primary purpose very well, playing backing tracks while I'm practicing vocals.

For walking, using the SE215s is scary. It doesn't take very much level for them to almost completely drown out the quiet cars, which just "whisper" by. A little more level, and only the noisy trucks occasionally intrude. More level than that and I'd have much worse tinnitus and earlier hearing loss. It's somewhat surreal, like watching an almost silent movie. But, dangerous!

The 215s are, however, a bit "mix-specific"; with a good mix, they sound good, with a bad one they don't sound quite so good. (But, remember, they're low cost.)

While the bass response could be better (and probably is in the more expensive models), it is sufficient for my all my needs, including on-stage/in-ear-monitoring where additional bass will be heard from stage monitors or mains speakers. Those critical of wireless transmitters' and IEMs' bass response might avail themselves of loudness contour curves and an increased understanding of the non-linearity with which our ears/brains perceive pitches relative to each other; at low levels, we simply don't hear the bass and treble as much as the mid-range.

The replaceable cord was an absolute necessity as I regularly have had the 215s predecessors fail from cord-breakage. No more! I ordered a spare cord when I got the 215s.

Overall, I love them! They work so well, that Shure's competitors will have difficulty getting me to not use the SE line exclusively (including, eventually, as rental IEMs).

(A note about hygiene and tinnitus. One should always clean their ears out daily, using a soft, "baby's" bulb to gently rinse out the inner part of the ear, never inserting the tip of the bulb deeply, squeezing gently so as not too damage the eardrum by intense direct water flow nor by intense sound. One should always clean the sleeves. While loud sound or noise will cause tinnitus, so will the use of aspirin and other substances. The presence of tinnitus doesn't always presage eventual hearing loss. Still, an annual hearing exam by a qualified audiologist is essential for those regularly listening to loud music or other loud sound. Furthermore, consulting and abiding by daily noise-exposure charts is suggested.)

Great product for the money

Shure SE 215 earphones

Great sound but very difficult to secure in the ear. The ear piece swivels and it's very confusing to get the wire to loop over the ear. Not good for quick on and off situations.

Not quite

A little disappointed with this product. Sound quality not quite what I expected and not easy for ME to get a good seal. I made need to get something else or spend more for something that is more of a custom fit.

Not what I was expecting sound-wise & fit...

By Joseph Ferguson from HARTSELLE, AL on April 19, 2022 Music Background: Drums (trap set, snare - marching & concert), Piano, Trumpet & Tuba

I use these for drumming and I've used Shure in ears before, but with these I'm constantly having to adjust them (I have normal size lobes) and the sound is a little disappointing. I found some multi driver in-ears for about half the price on amazon that I'm going back to which really sound great. The only down side to the Amazon purchased (CCA C10 Five Drivers Hybrid) so far is that they are made in China.

Decent product for the price

By Ken from Grand Rapids, MI on January 5, 2022 Music Background: Church worship leader

For the price point, these are adequate in-ear monitors. These are the first in-ears I have ever used. They work well and stay in my ears fine during performance. I'm not crazy about the sound quality as some midrange frequencies can be harsh at times and they are lacking in good bass response. Click tracks can sound especially annoying at times in these. I have some friends who moved up from using these SE215's to the Shure SE425 and the Shure SE846. They said there is a big improvement in the sound quality. The friend that has the SE846 plays bass and loves the super good bass tones they produce. The SE846's are just too expensive for me, but I really wish I had just spent the additional $ to get the SE425's instead of these SE215's. Like I said, the SE215's are good for the price, but if you plan to get a lot of stage time, I think going with one of the more expensive models would be worthwhile investment.

Gets the job done.

Hard to wear, but they are effective in what they advertise. Isolate sound well and quality is decent. great for practice. I would invest in a better pair if I were to gig with IEM's

I would give 4 stars but the cable I received is defective. My right ear headphone cuts out intermittently.

Not Great but Not Bad

I'm honestly not super stoked on the quality of these based off the price, but trying to use them anyway since you can't return headphones through Sweetwater. I'm sure with continued use they'll get more comfortable, but I had to use a cord extender to be able to connect to my laptop while playing drums and recording and they keep popping out of my ears, no matter what size cap I use.

Sound Quality

Well made, but the sound is very brittle when monitoring vocals and instruments.
They sound better if they are jammed in the ear, but become uncomfortable and distracting.

Okay But Trebly

By Scooter from RI on January 19, 2021 Music Background: 50-year professional musician

These earphones are not bad. They produce a clear sound, they do reproduce bass, but but are extremely treble-heavy. For their price they are quite acceptable. I use them for monitoring sound while creating video overdubs, a task which they perform well. However, if you are sensitive to high frequencies, do not buy them for pleasure-listening. Save up for some better-balanced phones. If, on the other hand, you have listened to or played too much LOUD music, and therefore have high-frequency hearing loss, these could be your dream phones!

Headphone placement difficulties

By Tim Bingham from Chicago on July 20, 2017

The headphones sound great. The best frequency range I've ever heard in an in-ear headphones.
Two minor complaints:
They need to be marked left and right
They need to be marked top and bottom.
I'm sure once I get used to taking them in and out the top/bottom and left/right won't be necessary. But it does take a little time for me to place them correctly and comfortably in my ears. Fellow band members give me some nasty looks as they have to wait for me between song rehearsals.

Sultry Sound, Disappointing Design

By Robert M on March 4, 2017

The good: With a good seal, these sound very nice. A well-balanced, relatively flat response with ample bass, decent imaging and strong isolation.

The bad: For me, these IEMs are easily the least comfortable earbuds I've ever donned. Just placing them in my ears takes endless fidgeting. The over-ear wire compounds this already frustrating experience. My speed at getting them "set" correctly has not improved.

The ugly: As a result of these factors emerging during the first week I owned these buds, I placed them back into their carrying case haven't used them since.

The complaint: Good sound and isolation are not worth more to me than comfort and ease of use. I want them both! I bought a pair of Panasonic HJE120's for nine dollars, and they sound only 80-90% as good (actually, wait, that's pretty darn good) but are 200% more comfortable and easy to use. And yeah, they're a tenth the price.

The caveat: I'm surprised there haven't been many other complaints about comfort. I don't know if that's due to the low expectations of others or simply that I have strangely shaped ears. I suppose either or both are possible.

I'd suggest proceeding with caution and finding a way to try these on before you purchase,

Very Muddy/Boxy and lack consistency in the quality of these particular models.

By Joey from Canyon, Tx on February 17, 2017 Music Background: Instrumentalist, Vocalist, Sound Technician, Producer...

These Are the second pair of Non-Custom in-ears I have owned. Aside From My Westones, I have owned 2 pair of these. They Aren't All bad and I understand They Have Single drivers. For My biggest complaints; There are VERY Dramatic differences in the quality of the 2 pair I've owned. The First Pair Were beyond muddy even after breaking them in. The cable didn't last 6 months. I sent them in for repair and they returned them with a new cable then the driver went out in the very same pair a month later assuming it was the cable again. Purchased a new cable and it was not the problem. I later decided to buy a second pair and they are much better than the last. They are still too muddy for my preferences.

Budget wise, these are great for starter in-ears. Especially if you can't afford customs (like myself in the beginning). They are comfortable after a little tweaking. Minimal Ear fatigue

I do not, however, recommend upgrading to the dual drivers or any of the higher end Shure In-Ears.
If you can afford anything past $300 purchase something better.

A little disappointed

By David Townsend from WA on December 31, 2016 Music Background: Musician and engineer for half a century and still learning

I bought these to replace a pair of SE-210s that bit the dust (as all such IEMs eventually do). I thought: "215", that's 5 digits better than 210, right? Should be similar or better, I thought. Wrong. Not the same at all.

These are severely bass-hyped, and clearly designed for portable pop music listening, not for stage monitoring or critical listening. If you're among those who consider Beatz the last word in headphones, then you'll like these on your iPhone. But if you spend your days listening to high-end studio monitors in an acoustically-treated space, then you're attuned to a flat frequency response and will be disappointed with the SE-215s.

Mind you, I don't expect much in the way of fidelity from in-ears, using them primarily for long-distance air travel. But I had been hoping they might do double duty as stage monitors. That's probably not going to work. I also like to evaluate my mixes away from the DAW, using various headphones as alternate references. The SE-215s won't be much use for that, either, as just sounding bad isn't in itself very informative.

Still, I don't want to be overly harsh. For casual listening, e.g. a podcast while taking a walk these'll do just fine. They'll let me avoid using those nasty earbuds they hand out on the plane,.And after all, they were only $.

Our Drummer seems to be very happy with these. I was previously using two floor monitors and bought these in an effort to reduce stage monitor volume. No matter how loud I cranked the floor monitors, they were never quite loud enough for the drummer. Now I have these running off a headphone amp, and he can turn them up as loud as he wants.

not impressed, mid range earbud with isolation. but that's it.

By ian from downers grove, il on May 6, 2015 Music Background: analog synth enthusiast

these were a disappointment to me. i don't mind spending 100 on earbuds, and considered jumping right in at a much higher model but kind of glad i got these to test them out.

basically, these don't sound much better than some $40 urban outfitters earbuds "urbanears" which can be bought even less than that price. and i'm sure countless other earbuds offer something that sounds great for 50 or less.

the only advantage i see here is the sound isolation for playing on stage or trying to cut out background sound. i was expecting a much better sound quality and depth for the price. going to use them as headphones to mow the lawn as a result.

Shure SE215

By Carl from Dayton on March 24, 2015 Music Background: Drummer

I'm not blown away by these, but they work well and don't cost as much as custom made in-ears. They're more comfortable than the Vic-Firth headphones in that they're not pinching my head or get all sweaty when playing the drums, but they do have a different muffling signature. The Vic-Firths let through bit of a boxy sound whereas these block out most of the drums and cymbals well except for my snare drum for some reason. I plan on using them when mowing the lawn and all that. The wire connections seem beefed up and heavy duty, so I don't foresee a problem with that. For the cost, I'm happy, just don't expect to be blown away by them.

Great In-Ear Monitors

By Jordan Rhea from Boyne City, michigan on October 20, 2014 Music Background: Lead vocals, acoustic/lead guitar

I have been using these in ears for about a month now and have really enjoyed them. I use them for monitors in a live band setting and have found them to be functional and reliable. The product is of good quality and I like the (I believe is 6) different ear attachments options. A small, medium and large option is given in two styles of attachment: foam or soft rubber. They are comfortable while providing good sound isolation from room noise. The ear pieces can actually detach from the end of the cords as well although I don't use that feature very often. For the price I couldn't complain about sound quality. I have never used a set of ears that have had more than one driver per side so I really don't know what I am missing when it comes to "high end" in-ear monitors. There is a strip of rubber tubing at the end of the cords where the ear pieces attach, this is the part of the cord that will wrap over the top/back side of the ear. Over time it has begun to keep its form - it has a bit of memory to it which is great because I am not having to fight to keep the cords back behind my ears where I need them. Over all these are a great pair of in ear monitors that I feel are affordable, comfortable and for someone shopping for some in this price range I would recommend them.

Shure SE215

By Bill Phillips from Gainesville, FL on June 20, 2011 Music Background: Hobbyist Recording Engineer

So far I've only used the SE215 for listening to mp3 music on planes; but I'm really impressed by the level of stereo detail and sound quality. I clearly hear things that I've never heard with my previous in-ear monitors and those had two drivers!

Also, I'm just an amature engineer, but, even I can clearly tell where everything is in the songs on my mp3 player. The SE 215 also does a great job of blocking out plane noise and conversation allowing me to listen at a comfortable level and still be isolated from the noise around me.

Since I don't play an instrument, I hadn't planed to use the SE215 in the studio. Now that I've heard them, I want to give the SE215 a try for mixing and compare the mixes made using the SE215 with mixes made with near field monitors. My home studio acoustics leave a lot to be desired and I often resort to headphones for balancing EQ, levels and panning. I'm thinking given the clarity I've experienced from the SE215 might allow me to expand their role in mixing and improve my mixes at the same time.

On the down side, the first pair I received were defective. The cable connections were intermitent and the cables would often pop off the ear pieces. I consulted Arend Raby, my Sweetwater salesman for advice. Luckily Arend has a SE215 that he uses each Sunday without problems. So, I requested a replacement pair and I'm glad I did.

One more minor downside, I use my mp3 player to listen to radio when I'm traveling. It appears that the grounding of the SE215 shield interferes with the mp3 player using the in-ear monitor cable as an antenna causing intermitent radio operation. I found that poking the SE215 audio plug through a piece of plastic wrap solves that problem. The SE215 is the only headphones that have that problem.

Finnicky

By Tom on July 18, 2019 Music Background: Drummer, engineer

At first they were great. I primarily use them as in ear monitors for click as a drummer.
But after awhile the design shows some flaws.
The ear piece disconnects which can get dirt in and you have to clean them every so often.
The second issue is the threads and internal cupping are enig coated which has brandished and basically is intermediate in connection when slightly moved.
They cut out, for me it's the left, and become a big nuisance when your relying on a click.
Just poor functionality in my opinion.

These were great as my first 2 sets of in-ears (the first ones died in under a year, the second started giving way about 2 years in). Then again, I didn't know what I was missing. The next in-ears that I purchased blew me away with how much louder (with these I'd had to boost every signal I was given) and clearer other monitors (specifically Westones) were. Again, these weren't bad sounding to someone who hadn't heard better. I know a lot of people who love these... so they'd probably work great for you if you've never used in-ears. My recommendation is go with something else, though.

A step backward

By Mark L. from New Jersey on April 4, 2013 Music Background: Recording, Drummer with click track

I bought the Shure SE115s a couple years ago. I loved them, even though the neck slide broke only a few weeks after getting them. Recently, the left bud stopped working, so I replaced them with these. Compared to the 115s, these are a pain to put on and actually hurt my ears--the ears themselves, not the eardrums--to wear, especially because of my glasses. The old design on the 115s was simpler and more streamlined; the 215s are more twisty and complicated, take longer to put and take off, are uncomfortable for long periods of monitoring, hover at times within your ear (creating poorer sound quality), and cannot be used without running the wire up and behind your ear, whereas the 115s could be used this way. You could just stick them in your ears and go.
All that said, when they are in well and tight, and not hurting my ear cartilage, they work well. Also, using them while drumming works well because they are very secure in your ear. Lastly, if the wire was to break, the buds are removable so the wire can be replaced.
I should have done more research. I'm sending the 115s to Shure for repair. You should buy from that older line instead; these newfangled deals are too needlessly complicated.

Not for me

By John Garner from MI on September 21, 2021 Music Background: Solo perfomer (Folk and Soft Rock).

After all the positive reviews I must assume that my ear canal is not suited to these headphones. I tested these out by listening to a Genesis track, "Dance on a Volcano", and compared them to my $10 JBL earbuds. I found the Shures to be totally lacking in lower frequncy response regardless of trying all the sizes / type of ear pieces supplied with the units. Also the noise reduction is marginal-these seem to have have no more noise suppression than the JBL's.
The only way I could achieve any bass reponse (still not as good as the JBL's) was to "press and hold" the units into my ear which I cannot do when playing guitar. However, in fairness, the upper frequencies were clear. I replaced the Shures with a $40 set of Sony ear buds - which did give me the clear sound I wanted (better than the JBL's), but I suspect would not stay in place as well if moving quickly around the stage.

multiple levels of discomfort, good sound though

By c on February 12, 2019

These are pretty solid in terms of sound. They reflect the same imbalances in songs that I've heard on calibrated headphones and speakers, so they are certainly true enough to be a solid IEM choice for anyone from a sonic standpoint. However, I'm having issues actually wearing them in a way that doesn't bother me.

Coming from using some really cheap earbuds that came with my 7 year old phone, I was expecting comfort levels to be improved, both in terms of in-ear fit, and how the cables hang, but so far I am disappointed.

I can't really fault Shure too much in terms of the in-ear fit as the box incuded two different types of materials for the sleeves (rubber and some sort of coated foam), each having 3 different size options. They certainly tried to cover a lot of bases, but it would have been nice if they also included the triple flanged and yellow foam sleeves as well, because I'm now wondering if I should try those to achieve a better level of comfort, but I'm not entirely happy about the prospect of throwing $... more at a product this disappointing (and I'm pretty sure I can't return these).

The sleeves that fit me the best still have some sort of cutting sensation going on and I can't figure out if it's the sleeves themselves or part of the plastic housing of the earbuds touching another part of my ear.

The cables seem to have minds of their own - minds which have their will bent against both my sanity and comfort. The part of the cables closest to the earbuds have a reinforced sleeve for shaping the wires about your ears, which seems like a good idea on paper, but when you're actually fiddling with the things to get them to arch properly it feels like someone is playing a prank on you.

Once you've gotten the SE215s in your ears with the cables in a reasonable position about your ears you're supposed to cinch them to the back of your head. Again, this seems like a good idea until you actually do it and realize that looking up, down left or right will either unsettle the fit in your ears or disturb the way the cable hangs below the cinching mechanism making sure that you're keenly aware that your head is tethered to and wrapped with some very robust wires that end in thingies you jammed in your ears.

The wires seem to want to be twisted in any way other than the orientation that you'd prefer (like the wire that goes to your left ear staying on the left) as they dangle to and from the cinching mechanism, potentially triggering a level of OCD in you that you weren't aware you had, and the sheer weight of the reinforced cables reminds you that if you move a bit too much in any direction you'll be feeling it...you guessed it...in your ears.

I'm seriously considering going back to my cheap earbuds even though they sound terrible.

Foam not big enough

By Sweetwater Customer on November 21, 2017 Music Background: Professional Musician

If you have big ears, or a bIg ear canal, they won't stay in. I even went to the Shure website directly and ordered the largest replacment foam they have - not big enough. Consumer-grade Sonys are larger and fit fine but the entire Shure line is a little smaller. Here's a test: if the standard foam earplugs from the drugstore are not really big enough, then these won't be either.

These in ears are a little below average. They are extremely muddy and everything in your mix with be dark. I just bought them while I saved for customs. After 10 months the cable broke. These are good for temporary use while you save for nicer in ears. And remember, customs are always worth the wait and money. 3 driver universals suck compared to 3 driver customs. Customs have unmatched clarity and depth. If you are looking for a good pair of universals, stay away from the single drivers and buy at least 3 drivers. Check out 1964 ears.

More trouble than it's worth.

By Steven Helton from PLAINFIELD, IN on June 22, 2022

For what I was looking for, just not worth the trouble. I was looking for some earphones to use for practicing guitar with something like a Strymon Iridium or even for use with my keyboard. It's difficult to get them placed properly in your ears. The cables are difficult to get them to stay where they belong and they need to be longer unless you want to use an extension cable. It seems like the cable connectors to the ear pieces don't always make a good connection and the sound drops out on one side or the other. "IF" you can ever get them placed just perfectly in your ears they sound pretty good, but I don't want to spend 10 minutes getting them on the way I want. And even then, they aren't very comfortable. Guess I will just keep using my over the ear studio monitor headphones.

Horrible tinny sound so bad it hurts

By Kas from California on August 10, 2020 Music Background: Live band

I absolutely cannot imagine where the good reviews come from on these in ears. I bought these for a live band sound. But it only took me five minutes to realize that these are garbage. The only good thing is they are kind of noise cancelling. but I can't wear them because the sound is so tinny and horrible that it hurts my ears even at a low volume. Absolutely zero bass response. I'm surprised shure even put their name on these. My $19 earbuds from Target sound way better.
I read the reviews and made a decision from there so please take my warning. And the fact that you can't take them back is just sad, because they are junk.
I realize you get what you pay for but I figured it would at least be tolerable. Whoever let these go through to sell must have been desperate.

The poor cable ruins everything

By Sweetwater Customer on March 2, 2016

I have used Shure headphones for almost a decade now and I used to love them, but they have always struggled when it comes to duration around their cables. In the past they were good to honor the warranty and provide new headphones when the cable would begin splitting. However, the new headphones, the SE215, have detachable earbuds, which is a good idea in theory, but now that I am looking for replacement cables, I am running out of luck in finding sufficient cables without paying nearly has much as I originally spent. Even the replacement cables made by Shure are far less quality than the original. I am starting to look for new headphones from other manufacturers.

By Chris on September 20, 2023 Music Background: Drummer

Great little buds until the right one got so quiet I could barely hear it. Chased the problem all through my setup not suspecting them cause they're only a year or so old.
Part of a bundle so I'll just eat the loss…

Not good is a gross understatement.

By Joel Adams from SD on August 30, 2022 Music Background: Professional gigging musician

Three of the members of my band have been using these for the past six months to a year. We bought the Shure transmitters, so they came with the set. Everyone has had issues of some kind. The right earpiece failed on my set within about a month of receiving them. I sent them back for warranty repair, but it has failed again probably five times since. If I take them apart and put them back together it fixes it, but it seems to be dumb luck because it doesn't work every time, and I'm stuck dismantling them on set break a couple times every few shows. Other issues-

- drummer has acidic sweat and it ate through the coating on the wires in a pretty short amount of time. I do not have acidic sweat, and the coating is also rubbing off in a spot on mine.

-guitarist is having the exact issues that I'm having after only having his set for about three shows.

-The ear pieces detach pretty easily, so if you're anything rougher than treating these like a baby mouse, you will lose one.

I am careful with my gear, and if these aren't in my ears they are in the case, and they still fail on a routine basis.

**Note- the other two guys using these purchased them separately from a different retailer, so it's not like just sweetwater got a bad batch or something**

I understand that these are "budget" units, but to have them fail so quickly and so often is really disappointing.

Sound quality is also not great.

Does not last

By John Calhoun from Owensboro, KY on June 3, 2022 Music Background: Weekend warrior for 30 years

I have been using Shure products for years, and continue to, even a great wireless IEM system our band uses. I bought these buds in April. It's May and I'm sitting at a gig and one side has already crapped out. I'll keep using Shure mics but no more buds

Promising, but in the end, junk.

By Tom from Tennessee on January 16, 2022 Music Background: Multi-decade multi-instrumentalist for fun and profit. Stage and studio.

My first set solved all the problems I wanted them to solve, but one of the earbuds died after only several uses. Sweetwater, being all awesome, replaced them. No problem.

The second set turned up with a dead earbud on the third use - and while on stage. The following morning in looking into the matter while not on stage, I found both sides were dead.

I can arrive at no other conclusion than the Shure SE215s are simply junk. I am not hard on my gear - in fact I'm very much a nut about taking care of my stuff and making it last. I'll stick to Shure microphones from now on. In-ears, not so much.

Already not working

By Michael Butterfield from Alameda, Ca on November 28, 2021

These have been terrible. They are already only working on one side with limited use. For $ and the with the Shure name I expected a lot more.

Extremely disappointing

There is no low-end whatsoever. My Skull Candy earbuds sound WAY better than these. And read the fine print

Worst listening experience ever.

By John Leighton from Mesa Arizona on July 1, 2020 Music Background: Live sound and recording

I have to say I am shocked that this is a Shure product. I understand that this is their lowest price point for in ears but the quality is so bad that I feel they are just taking peoples money because they know you will give it a try at this price. The box states clear sound and Deep bass but in order to get any bass response at all, you have to turn it up so loud that the overall high frequency quality hurts your ears. The free headphones you get with an iPhone sound way better than this supposed professional product.

Poor build

By Sweetwater Customer on January 26, 2020

Used twice and they broke immediately. Driver stopped working for no reason

very difficult to wear

By Sweetwater Customer on August 13, 2019

These are the most difficult earphones to wear i have ever purchased.

Shure SE215

By Mark Lanen on September 20, 2018

This is the most disappointing purchase I have ever made from Sweetwater and because these are earphones they are non returnable. No low end and awful frequency response. The $10 ear buds I bought at Target are much better. Very very disappointed in this JUNK from Shure. Wish I could audition in ears somewhere...what is it that prohibits return....what communicable disease could come from ear plugs? Sweetwater techs, have you honestly tried these?

Sorry to say but disappointed

By RT from SH, MI on August 15, 2018 Music Background: Hobby

Nothing worse than losing a set of Bose ear buds. I did and I knew they were great for iPhone and especially the Vox AC30 Amplug. Great sound through the Bose $99 earbuds playing a Fender Strat. However, I didn"t like reviews on the Bose quality, and I understand that everything, and I mean everything, just has to be made cheaper and cheaper, so I tried these. Huge disappointment. The tinny sound is so annoying, I can"t stand them. Can"t return them, I knew, but back to Bose.

Small ears? Purchase with care!

By Cat Peterson from Honolulu, HI on February 28, 2018 Music Background: singer-songwriter

Aloha,

My wife kids me: "You have otter ears."

My ears are small. And... while these headphones were highly rated, no matter what I do, they just don't fit my ears.

When "properly installed," they are uncomfortable, even painful. (I did find a YouTube reviewer who reported the same experience with some small-eared users!)

I can't comment on the sound quality as... I just wanted to get the 215s out of my ears.

I had planned to use them as a wired in-ear solution when gigging. Not possible. Will have to look elsewhere.

Hopefully I can find something that does the trick: has the SE215's (reported) sound quality, but isn't painful to use!

Don't Waste Your Money

By Rene Ramos from Round Rock, TX on December 15, 2017 Music Background: Been playing multiple instruments for over 30 years and I'm doing recording and mastering now.

I bought these on sale. Sweetwater has a 'no return' policy on certain items, including ear buds.
I thought since these are made Shure, they must be good!
Boy, was I wrong! I found a set of Panasonic off Amazon for $15. The Panasonics sound 10 times better.
Just a waste of money. Left a seriously bad taste.

Dissapointed

By M F Evans from South Carolina on June 2, 2014 Music Background: Acoustic Guitar-Praise Team-Weddings

Received these two days ago. Most uncomfortable anything I've ever had in my ear. Sound is clear, however I just waisted $100.
