Slate Digital has announced Virtual Tape Machines, a new plug-in that emulates the sound of NRG Recording’s 16-track, 2-inch machine and Howie Weinberg’s 2-track, 1/2-inch mastering deck. According to Slate, this is one of the most complex audio plug-ins ever coded. It is designed to add the sort of life, depth, punch, and dimensionality that an analog tape recorder provides for audio signals.
