Tech 21 SansAmp

For over 30 years, New York–based Tech 21 has been the name behind seemingly every bass tone to hit the airwaves. The SansAmp pioneered the concept of amp modeling, providing a variety of tonal configurations directly to your mixing console. This has made them highly popular for both studio and stage use, allowing bassists to easily switch from a deep, clean tone to crunch and overdrive with one discrete pedal.

Today, Tech 21’s lineup comprises far more than the Classic pedal that started it all — there are rackmount fixtures, artist signature models, programmable pedals, and more that make up the SansAmp series. Look no further than Sweetwater to enhance your guitar or bass rig with a SansAmp — give your Sales Engineer a call at (800) 222-4700.

What made the SansAmp so popular?

The SansAmp initially became popular with bassists who wanted to ditch their amplifier for a streamlined setup built around pedals. The ability to use it for both performance and recording has made the SansAmp a staple in countless bass guitar setups.

Is a SansAmp analog or digital?

Analog circuitry is used in every SansAmp model, delivering the classic analog tube warmth that initially made the pedal so popular with bassists.

Where is a SansAmp placed in the signal chain?

Since it uses amp simulation technology, you’ll often see a SansAmp placed at the end of the signal chain before going into a PA or other recording input. If you have effects pedals that you don’t want colored by your SansAmp, then you can also put it at the beginning of the chain as long as you have another DI box at the end to send out a balanced signal.
