What fans should be running in my Creation Station?

Please note that your new Sweetwater Custom Computer has been designed and tested to run at or below acceptable temperatures with its current cooling system using most professional audio hardware. However, if more cooling becomes necessary, such as with the addition of supplementary hard drives or multiple DSP cards, each model is equipped with a means of adjusting the speed of the fan(s).

Stock Intel Cooler
The CSTowerLE uses a stock Intel reference cooler which is self-adjusting and should not need to be altered.

Zalman Fan Mate
All older models (shipped prior to August, 2006), excluding the CSTowerLE and CSTowerPlus, include an internal Zalman Fanmate CPU fan speed controller located near the CPU. It is a black, rectangular plastic casing with a knob on one end, mounted on the computer casing. It can be adjusted via its rotary control; clockwise to increase the RPM and counter-clockwise to decrease the RPM. Please note that newer (shipped after August, 2006) Creation Station models do not have the Fanmate, but instead run off Q-Fan. Q-Fan is a technology that determines the optimum fan speed based off motherboard and CPU temperature readings. It allows for the same cooling power as the Fanmate is capable of, but uses less power.

Enermax 80mm Fan
The CSRackDual series computers (the old 2.8 and 3.2, and the new 3.0 and 3.4 GHz) are also equipped with an adjustable rear 80mm fan. It can adjusted by inserting a jeweler’s Phillip’s head screwdriver into the recessed potentiometer located in the upper right corner of the fan; clockwise to increase the RPM and counter-clockwise to decrease the RPM.

Fan Placement
All of the computers have two fans in the power supply. There is an internal fan that spins continuously, and also an external fan that is heat-sensitive. This external power supply fan will only turn on when there is a need for it (i.e., when the power supply gets too hot). Aside from this, each computer model has a different cooling requirement, and therefore, a different set of fans. Below is a list of what fans each model contains:

– Tower LE: Stock Intel Fan. Self-adjusting, no need for lateration.
– Tower Plus: Zalman CPU cooler with Fan Mate.
– Pro: Upgraded Zalman CPU cooler with Fan Mate.
– Rack: Upgraded Zalman CPU cooler with Fan Mate.
– All New DualCore models: All-copper Zalman CPU cooler, running off Q-Fan. Also, Enermax 80mm Fan and non-adjustable front fan.
– All Old DualCore models: All-copper Zalman CPU cooler with Fan Mate. Also, Enermax 80mm Fan and non-adjustable front fan.

If any of your fans are malfunctioning, not spinning when they should, not securely fastened, or otherwise behaving oddly, please contact Tech Support immediately.
