Sonar3 / Pace registry fix

If Sonar 3 with a Hyperthreading Pentium 4 or Xeon processor us causing your plugins with PACE copy protection to crash and blue screen, you can try this registry entry to fix the problem.

Please note modifying the registry improperly can cause major Windows problems, including not being able to boot and data loss. If you are not comfortable modifying your registry, you may not want to do this modification.

1. Go to Start – Run and type REGEDIT and hit Enter.

2. Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Cakewalk Music Software\Sonar Producer\3.0

3. Go to Edit – New – DWORD Value

4. Type exactly: EnableMultiprocHT as the name of the new value

5. Double-click on this new entry and in the Value data box enter 1 (Hexadecimal or Decimal does not matter in this case) and click OK.

6. Restart your computer.

This modification instructs Sonar 3 to treat a Hyperthreading processor as two processors, which seems to solve some of the problems with PACE.

Note: Uninstallation of this step is simply right-clicking on the EnableMultiprocHT and clicking Delete (answer Yes).
