How do I send the digital output of a DAT to the Control Room Output of an 02R?
Any of the three 2-track digital inputs may be accessed for playback monitoring simply by selecting the corresponding button on the panel in the Control Room section. If the DAT input is also to be routed through channel inputs for additional mixing or processing, a different setup procedure is required (see 02R issue ”Connecting a DAT to digital inputs 2TRD1 or 2TRD2 of an 02R”).
1) Connect the DAT output to input 2TRD1, 2TRD2, or 2TRD3 on the 02R. Use input 2TRD1 for AES/EBU format signals, using a 3-terminal XLR connector. Use input 2TRD2 or 2TRD3 for S/PDIF format signals, using an RCA-type ”phono” connector.
NOTE: Inputs 2TRD1 and 2TRD2 may be routed to the Control Room Output, to channel inputs, or both. If either input is to be routed to channel inputs, a different setup procedure is required (see 02R issue ”Connecting a DAT to digital inputs 2TRD1 or 2TRD2 of an 02R”).
NOTE: Input 2TRD3 only goes to the Control Room Output, and cannot be routed to input channels. The purpose of 2TRD3 is to allow the routing of a DAT (or other 2-track digital source) to the Control Room Output without using up input 2TRD1 or 2TRD2.
2) Turn the DAT recorder on.
3) Press the corresponding input select button in the Control Room panel section: [2TR-D1], [2TR-D2], or [2TR-D3]. When the selection is made the button’s LED will light up.
