How can I get the MIDI driver installed on my M-Audio Audiophile USB? Why does it show the ASIO 3/4 driver?

If your Audiophile USB is installing the ASIO 3/4 instead of the midi driver, you need to do the following:

First go to Start => Programs => Audiophile USB and run the uninstaller. Then, go to your “Folder options” control panel. On the view tab, put a mark where it says “show hidden files or folders”, also uncheck the box that says “hide file extensions for known file types” and uncheck ” hide protected operating system files”. Then hit OK. Next, go to your start/search/all files or folders. Scroll down to “more advanced options”. Check the first 3 boxes (search hidden files or folders, search subfolders, and search system folders). Then scroll back up and in the field name “all or part of the file name”, do a search and delete for the following:

*mm*usb*.*
*maua*.*
*usb*4×4*.*
Lmasfltr.sys
*oem*.* (containing text or a word or phrase in the file : M Audio)

We also have these searches:

*ma76*.*
*ma003*.*
*madfu*.*

With these two searches, only delete the files if the have a M-Audio icon
installer.exe
dma.exe

These new searches clear out the temp folder which is located in:

C:\Documents and Settings\”whatever the customer logged in as”\local settings\temp

You may want to delete the entire contents of this folder (this should not affect any programs you have installed- it is just a temporary folder).

Then, drag the installer from the cd to the desktop. Or use a downloaded driver. Remove any M-Audio driver CD’s from the CD drive. Then run the Audiophile installer and proceed with the normal installation.
