Line 6 POD HD500X Tips – Foot switches 5-8

On the POD HD500X, the bottom row of foot switches have two functions: ABCD mode and FS 5-8 mode. Out of the box, the foot switches are in ABCD mode and act as a preset selector within whatever preset bank you are currently in. You can change the function of these switches to provide you with additional on/off control for your effects, or FS 5-8 mode. When you change them to this function, you will still be able to choose your preset within a bank, but once you select your preset, they will switch over to FS 5-8 mode. To change presets from here, you will have to reselect your bank.

Here’s how to change from ABCD mode to FS 5-8 mode:

1. Press and hold the View button to access the System Setup.
2. By default, you should land on Page 1. Option 1, labeled FS mode, is what you want to pay attention to for this process.
3. You can change the mode by turning knob 1 located just below the display. Turning the knob to the left switches to FS 5-8 mode and turning the knob to the right changes it to ABCD mode.
4. When you are done, press the View button to return to the main screen.
