When i insert a DVD or CD into my Creation Station, it reboots immediately. I also have trouble getting into Windows with any disk inserted.

Th most likely problem for this is an application called “InterVideo” that gets installed on many commercial video DVD’s. Sweetwater installs PowerDVD, a utility with no known conflicts with any audio software. However, on many commercial DVD’s, the included InterVideo application usually gets installed automatically. This is beneficial for those whose computers lack a DVD player, but can be harmful on other systems.

You can do the following things to try to eliminate the problem:

1. Go to Start > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs.
2. Locate the Intervideo player. If Intervideo is not in your computer, please let me know right away. If it is, remove it.
3. Go to C:/WINDOWS/Minidmp. Remove all files ending in “.dmp” and then empty the trash.

WARNING: The next set of instructions involves changing the registry. BE EXTREMELY CAREFUL WHEN ACCESSING THE REGISTRY! DEVIATING FROM THE PRINTED INSTRUCTIONS IN ANY WAY CAN CAUSE SERIOUS HARM TO YOUR COMPUTER! Please be very careful, and follow the instructions EXACTLY as printed.

4. Go to Start > Run, type in “regedit” (without the ” ” marks), and press “OK.”
5. In the left-hand column, nvigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SYSTEM > CurrentControlSet > Services > Cdrom.
6. After clicking on the Cdrom folder, you will see a list of items appear in the right-hand column. Click on “AutoRun” and press “Enter.”
7. The box for “Value data” should be set to “1.” Set it to “0” and press “OK.”
8. Close the Registry Editor.

At this point, you should be able to boot normally with a disk inserted. Since autorun is now disabled, the computer should NOT try to access disks while it boots. If you are ever prompted to install anything immediately after inserting/opening a video DVD, do NOT install it. This is likely what caused this problem in the first place.

If this does not solve the problem, please call Tech Support.
