How do I setup my Raven MTi2 with Cubase in Windows 10?
Getting started
Follow the instructions below to setup your MTi2 with your Windows 10 computer and Cubase.
Here are download links for the Windows and Cubase templates.
- Steinberg Raven Keys.xml (200KB)
- Window Layouts.xml (200KB)
Display settings
- Right click on the desktop and choose Display Settings. Now, click Identify, select the MTi2 and check the box for Make This My Main Display.
- Right-click on the Taskbar at the bottom of your screen and choose properties. Now, put a check in the box next to Auto-Hide the Taskbar and click Apply.
- Navigate back to the Display Settings menu and click Make text and other items larger or smaller underneath the large Display menu.
- Now, click Set A Custom Scaling Level. Here you’ll need to confirm the display scaling is set to, 100% Click Ok.
- Next, install Raven software and Touch driver.
- Click the system tray and select Configure from the UPDD Console and follow the on-screen instructions.
Cubase setup
- Open Cubase and go to Device Setup. Now add V-control pro, set the Bank to 24 tracks, and click OK.
- Launch V-control from the system tray, select SETUPS, and double-check that Steinberg and Raven are highlighted. This will ensure communication is between Raven and Cubase.
- Navigate to user/name/appdata/roaming/Steinberg/Cubase 8_64/Presets/Key Commands and drop the key commands from the templates at the beginning of the article into the Key Commands folder. Then select them from within Cubase.
- If you don’t have the key commands folder in the Presets, press the “save” icon in the key commands window and save a basic key command file. This will automatically create the Presets/Key Commands folder.
- Navigate to user/name/appdata/roaming/Steinberg/Cubase 8_64/Presets and replace the Window Layout XML with the attached Window Layout XML. This will ensure the Sizing of the Windows is correct.
- The Project/Mix button toggles between Workspace 1 and 2. So depending on your displays you may need to update these so that the windows will open in the correct spot and you can utilize all displays.
- In order for the internal mixer to sync correctly, the Steinberg colors need to be set to default. Go to Device and then Device Setup. Now, select MixConsole Racks from the list on the left and click the Defaults button at the bottom followed by Apply.
- From within the Device Setup window, select Project & MixConsole and uncheck Sync Selection in Project Window so the MTi2’s Internal Mixer will not bank around when tracks are selected in the Project Window.
- Hide Stereo In/Out Tracks in the MixConsole.
- Open the Raven application and select Cubase from the drop menu. If all is connected correctly, the STOP button will be pushed down. This confirms Raven is synced with V-control and Raven.
- Align the MixConsole to the Red border to sync the Raven Multi-Touch faders over the Cubase Mix Console faders.
