When I try to burn a CDR with audio files created with Logic, the CD burning software does not accept the files. Why?
A: You have created your stereo master files as Split Stereo files. When mastering, select Interleaved Stereo instead of Split Stereo. The CDR software should accept your Wav-, AIFF- or SDII files. The Split Stereo Format divides the stereo signal into two phase-locked mono files for the left and right channels, which most (if not all) CDR software is unable to read. The reason that Logic offers support for the Split Stereo format is that some audio hardware (especially “DAE” hardware) does not support Interleaved Stereo. For this hardware you can go to the Audio > Audio Preferences window, and switch on Force record & convert interleaved into split stereo file(s). As Logic can convert between formats, it’s not necessary to repeat a recording if you have had chosen the wrong format. Choose Audio File > Convert to AIFF Stereo or Convert to Wave Stereo (Mac: In the audio window).
