Ideal Neumann Sub for Smaller Rooms

If you’re looking for an affordable way to extend the low end in a small control room, Sweetwater has an excellent suggestion. The Neumann KH 750 DSP subwoofer is an ideal sub for smaller rooms and smaller studio monitors such as Neumann’s own KH 80 DSP. The KH 750 has a unique and flexible onboard 2.0/0.1 Bass Manager that allows for it to be used in many different system configurations. The rear panel is equipped with both analog and digital inputs and outputs, four routing modes, fourth-order DSP crossovers, and acoustical controls for seamless system and room integration.

Neumann.Control software

Via standard IP networking, Neumann.Control V2 software for iPad gives you full access to all the functions of the KH 750 DSP subwoofer that are not available on the back panel. With Neumann.Control, systems of loudspeakers can be defined, from mono to 3D, aligned for an accurate in-room sound, and then operated centrally. At last, you don’t need a degree in physics to add a subwoofer to your monitoring setup, even a small room. The KH 750 DSP subwoofer is designed to complement Neumann’s range of monitors and can be used in music, broadcast, and post-production facilities for tracking, mixing, and mastering.

Neumann KH 750 10-inch Powered Studio Subwoofer Features:

  • Decreases bass extension and increases maximum SPL of main monitor loudspeakers
  • Decreases harmonic and intermodulation distortion of main monitors
  • Reproduces LFE channel; sub signal of a bass-managed multichannel source
  • Ideal for Plane Wave bass array system
  • Full functionality access via Neumann.Control software
  • Onboard 256W amplification; 105dB SPL
  • Frequency response: 18–300Hz
  • Works as an extension for Neumann KH 810, KH 870, and KH 805 subwoofer systems
  • Includes mains cables (US, UK, EU), Quick Guide, and safety booklet

Reviews

amazing sound
before balancing the frequencies with the room measurements It already sounded incredible. setup woth the m1 system had it's challenges at first but it was being blocked by my WiFi settings so the setup was complete i was able to get a near flat response across the entire spectrum. And the sound is just so clear and precise. Unclouded and just amazing. I wanted this sub for a while to go with my 3 year old KH 120 monitors and now I am feeling very confident i will hear the bass below 50 Hz as well as the already wonderful sound i got with just the near field monitors . Support from Sweetwater was helpful as always and even Neumann's support was pretty quick and offered tips fot the issues and questions I was having.
you guys are great ! Especially Chance. He is always tgere fir me and I can be demanding. Thanks
for supporting and selling awesome gear! You help the little guy feel important and achieve great sound.

Quite Excellent
I use the 750 with a pair of KH120's in my studio. I also have a pair of KH310's, which are actually my main monitors. With the 120's and 750's I have an alternative which is always helpful. The 750 accomplishes it role quite well. The DSP works with the 120's to provide a balanced and tight sound. I consider that the use of a subwoofer is to extend the low frequency range - not to make the bass more dominent. For mixing and mastering I want the truth. I do not want a subwoofer that exagerates the bass. The 750 excells in the regard, particularly with the 120's. I find it to be a very useful combination. DSP is significant in this regard, assisting in the transition from the 120's to the 750.

Another fine piece of work from Neumann, who really has it act together.
You don't realize it until you've tried it!
A few years ago I bought a lower priced sub and it felt like a game-changer for mixing. I could hear all those low rumbles that my KH80s or 50mm headphone drivers wouldn't show me and I would adjust accordingly. On a whim, I wen't into a bit of debt to try this out and got the calibration microphone with it as well and all I can say is "it's the Neumann accuracy that I've been missing".

It feels transparent while you're listening but I use a ProCo SwitchWitch that allows me to add/subtract the Sub or other speakers quickly and when I cut off the Sub, it's noticeable. In other words, many times a sub will feel like it's there to be a teenager driving down the beach showing off "Hey, I have big subs in my 1992 Chevy Cavalier trunk" but this comes off as professional as you'd expect, and a bit more!

Tight, clean, perfection every time… that's Neumann!

Next level
DO NOT SKIP BUYING THE MA-1 MEASUREMENT MIC. Seriously, for an extra $ in the bundle you'd be absolutely insane not to. You're not just paying for the sub, but for the DSP control it brings to your Neumann system. My KH310s sounded incredible by themselves, but the sub and integrated MA-1 alignment software take them to the next level.

Just look at the Before & After measurement response in my studio. I have decent room treatment and took care to place the 310s according to best practices (not too far from walls, etc.), but as you can see, the difference is night and day. The software takes care of all this for you. I can't say enough good things about the sound.

The MA-1 software crashed a few times on my Windows 10 machine, but otherwise was a breeze to run. It could really benefit from overlaying different measurement curves so that you can compare different monitor/sub placements, but hey. Make sure you've got an ethernet cable to run to the sub from your network switch.

Game Changer- best purchase in ages.
I have the Neumann 310s and have been very pleased with them. I have a exceptional room for editing that has been treated, but it still has slight issues. Prior to getting the KH750 DSP and the M1 mic alignment, my 310 rig has been calibrated with software placed on the master bus.

It has been working very well, but cannot compare with using the Neumann system for calibration and sound. The entire system seems united, the Sub disappears and the clarity through all ranges has improved dramatically. Tiny details for working out intonation (classical music) can be heard like never before. Translation on my mixes to other setups is perfect! I can edit and mix with a great new confidence.

This was the best purchase in ages.
