Softube has introduced two exciting new products. First up, we have Tape, a sonically versatile, easy-to-use tape emulation plug-in. Tape offers three types of reel-to-reel tape machine emulations: a classic Swiss machine known for its linearity, a transformer-based machine offering weighty and creamy bottom end, and a British machine with vintage vibe. Set the “color” amount and the tape speed to tailor the results to your needs, use presets from well-known pros, or dive deep into extended controls for precision tweaking. AAX, Audio Units, and VST are supported, and there is a special MixFX version for Studio One (Tape Multitrack) that allows for selectable crosstalk between mixer channels.
Softube has also released an expansion for Modular, their “virtual” recreation of a Eurorack synth system. The new module, 4ms SMR, was created in association with Eurorack hardware mavens, 4ms. 4ms SMR, or Spectral Multiband Resonator, is a classic filter bank that can provide extended processing, including “ringing” resonance, vocoder-like effects, harmonizing, oscillator quantizing, spectral data output, and more. 4ms SMR is efficient for low CPU impact, and comes with 75 custom presets.
