Add Weight to Your Digital Mixes
Pro studios often run their digital mixes through a generation of analog tape to enhance their weight and cohesion. Now, thanks to Softube Tape, you can too. Old-school engineers will tell you — no two tape decks sound alike. That's why this excellent plug-in includes emulations of three different machines. Tape is a breeze to use — just choose the machine you want, then adjust the Amount knob until you achieve the perfect amount of analog goodness. There are also celebrity-made presets onboard to get you started. And if you want to dig in, tape speed, machine stability, crosstalk, and more are fully adjustable. Tape is a great way to warm up your digital mixes. NOTE: This product requires that you have an iLok account for authorization, although it does not require a physical iLok key. Please call your Sweetwater Sales Engineer if you have questions.

- "I love the Softube Tape plug-in. It's great for just adding a touch of analog tape simulation to a final mix, but more impressively, it's great for adding character to vocals and guitars. It provides instant glue for harsh or overly transient sounds in a mix." — Joe Chiccarelli, Mixer/Engineer/Producer for Beck, U2, The Strokes, Elton John, etc.
- "Tape sounds FANTASTIC. I like Type A and C the best. Overall, the sound of it is outstanding!!!" — BT a.k.a. Brian Transeau, American Music Producer/Composer/Technologist/Audio Technician/Multi-instrumentalist
- "Softube Tape is my new favorite saturation plug-in. Parallel it with your kick or bass and drive it hard — thick and fat. Tape also lives on my mix buss alongside a couple of other Softube modeled plug-ins, glues my tracks, and gives me a lot of sonic options; from transparent to unwieldy and everywhere in between." — Howard Willing, Producer/Engineer/Mixer for The Smashing Pumpkins, Sheryl Crow, and Kris Kristofferson
- "Tape is a fantastic addition to my master bus! The subtle nuance, drive, and natural-sounding tape compression make this a great way to warm up any digital 'in-the-box' mix." — Kevin Kadish, Grammy-nominated Songwriter/Producer for Meghan Trainor and Jason Mraz
Three flavors of analog tape goodness
Why settle for one tape machine emulation when you can have three? Softube Tape's Type A is based on a classic Swiss reel-to-reel machine that is renowned for its linearity and precision. Type B models a transformer-based machine that will add weight and color to your low end. Type C is an emulation of a British tape machine with a deliciously distinctive vibe.

Loads of tape-a-liscious tweakability
Tape is as easy to use as choosing a tape machine emulation and twisting a knob. But if you're like many of us here at Sweetwater, you like to tweak things. Softube knows this, and they designed Tape accordingly. Slow down the tape speed and kick up the tape head bump a notch for a low-end boost. Adjust the machine stability for a little out-of-control wow and flutter action. You also get control of the effect's dry/wet mix, high-frequency EQ, and crosstalk.
Extra fun for PreSonus Studio One users
PreSonus Studio One users will really love Softube Tape. Not only can Studio One users utilize it as a standard plug-in, but its Tape Multitrack function also allows you to adjust the crosstalk between your individual tracks using a single interface. The good news is that if you get Studio One somewhere down the line, Tape Multitrack is already installed. All you need to do is install Studio One, and you're ready to go!
