Okay, not Tom Sawyer’s. But Mark Twain’s 1835 Martin 21/2-17 guitar is on display at the online Museum of Musical Instruments. The instrument was acquired in the mid-90s by collector Hank Risan who worked closely with the Mark Twain Project to verify the guitar’s authenticity. According to Risan, the guitar is completely original except for the bridge, which was made in 1850 or 1860. Twain purchased the guitar in 1861 for $10. The MOMi has a ton of other cool, historically significant instruments you can check out as well.
