The FireStudio is an 18-input 18-output FireWire recording interface loaded with eight microphone preamps, MIDI I/O, S/PDIF I/O, word clock, eight channels of 96kHZ ADAT I/O (dual SMUX), and a 36 x 18 DSP matrix routing mixer. If you need more preamps, the the FireStudio is cascadable, allowing up to three units to be connected for 24 pres with a total I/O count of 54 channels. Further expanding the capabilities of the FireStudio is the optional MSR (Monitor Station Remote), a complete surround-capable desktop remote control delivering the ability to switch between track, mix, and surround modes, as well as talkback, dim, mute, mono, and dual headphone amplifiers. With the MSR, Track Mode delivers nine stereo mixes for monitoring in headphones during tracking, Mix Mode allows the user to switch between three sets of stereo monitors, and Surround Mode enables 5.1 surround control for mixing in surround sound. The FireStudio ships with a full compliment of software including Cubase LE, ACID XMC and the PreSonus ProPak – over 2GB of plug-ins, drum loops, and samples.
