Sennheiser rings in the new year by delivering the new EW335 wireless system. This is their high-performance 300 Series Wireless system with the E835 cardioid dynamic handheld mic. The mic features a SKM300 handheld transmitter.
MOTU has announced an OSX compatible USB MIDI driver for all MOTU MIDI interfaces, including the 2×2 FastLane-USB, 4×6 micro express-USB, 8×8 MIDI Express XT-USB and the 8×8 MIDI Timepiece AV-USB interface/universal synchronizer. The MOTU USB driver was coded from the ground up to leverage Mac OS’s new “CoreMIDI” architecture, making all MOTU USB MIDI interfaces compatible with all Macintosh software that supports standard Mac OS X MIDI drivers. The public beta is available for downloading at the MOTU website.
Bitshift Audio is presenting an interesting take on the VST Instrument format. Their PhatMatik allows users of VST 2.0-compatible software to play back the REX-format samples generated by Propellerhead’s Recycle loop-manipulation software. With this combination, users can now put together loop-based productions directly in their digital audio workstation of choice, without having to switch between several different programs for loop production, MIDI and audio.
