Sennheiser e 835 Cardioid Dynamic Vocal Microphone
Sennheiser e 835 Cardioid Dynamic Vocal Microphone Reviews
The Sennheiser e835 handheld dynamic vocal microphone gives you incredible performance and dependability at an equally incredible price! Able to handle high sound pressure levels, the e835 is also very effective at rejecting feedback. Add to that its ultra-low handling noise and its incredibly rugged construction, and you've got an affordable stage mic that's built to last! Whether you're setting up a single live mic for a coffeehouse or several onstage in the concert hall, the e835 is a great mic to have in your rig!
Love this Mike!!!
Love this Mike !!! And the great service!!! Thanks Sweetwater!!!
Fabulous ! Accurately Captures Vocals !! Proof is in the Pudding !
I just recorded simple arrangements of White Bird and Jolene using the Sennheiser e835s. My friend Kelly has an angelic voice and these mics made capturing her vocals really easy. I will never use my old SM58s again, unless as backups ...
Don't take my word for it, listen to the videos I linked, and judge for yourselves. And guys - you ain't gonna hear what these mics can really do listening on your phone. The recording is at 48Khz and 16bits, so listen through a good amp and speakers before you make your buying decision !
Go in peace, good people !
The Best Live Vocal mic around!
The 835E is hands down THE BEST vocal mic out there! The clarity and tonal quality are IHMO way better than the other guys top mic! You Won't regret buying these Mic!
Great mic at a great price.
This mic does everything you'd possibly need.
The EQ profile of it is perfect for lively vocals.
Very happy with the purchase. Have already used it at 3 gigs and the plosive control and overall clarity are huge bonuses. At this sale price, it's an absolute can't miss purchase.
Sounds open, clear and natural. I haven't roughed it up, but it seems sturdy, too.
I don't think there's a better mic near this price range. I've had no feedback issues whatsoever.
I can't find a single con to this mic at this price, and I like that it doesn't look like a SM58 clone, like many others do.
The pre-EQed choice
I compared this to the SE V7. It changes the frequency response of the microphone more than others in this price range do. It is not natural-sounding. You could say it comes pre-EQed, and this EQ works for me perfectly. See the many YouTube demos. Some may like this, and some may hate it. I like it. If you listen to the sound of the e835 as you sing in headphones, it may be off-putting due to sound change, but on playback, it sounds best to me by a large margin. I suspect, though, with lots of EQ by an experienced person, you could get all these mics sounding the same.
I gave it 5 stars due to liking it the best of the available options at this price point.
Great Vocal Mic
Great vocal mic especially at its price point. Always been a Shure SM58 man. The e835 was on Sale and I needed 2 mics. So it was a no-brainer to try the Sennheiser. Very happy I did!
Full disclosure, I was familiar with the e835's before the purchase. I was ran audio for others as they used e835 Sennheiser mics. I was very impressed then and I'm impressed now.
A great vocal response with little handling noise.
Again, difficult to beat a Sennheiser e835 or the Shure SM58 at their price point.
Best bang for the buck
I just added my 7th one of these mics to our bands line up. The bass player had a new Shure and she liked our Sennheisers better. Since she's got the best voice, I got her one. Now all of the band is singing through the same mic. I have been using these for several years and find the quality very high. The price is right, too.
Excellent
Great, just what I needed
Sennheiser Collection
The only problem when you've purchased a MixPre 10 S II, is that your microphone world explodes.
Using a Shure 58 beta, I bought an E 835 to explore. Really liked to sound of it, so I went out and bought a pair of E 845's, also outstanding.
Now bracing for financial impact, I find myself looking at Sennheiser and AT shotguns. Sennheiser is well represented, I need to decide what I can to acquire a pair!
Can't go wrong with Sweetwater for Microphones, and with my Secret Agent Spencer Kennedy, I know I am in good hands!
Thank you Cody
I was planning to get an SM58, but after talking to Cody about my needs and vocal characteristics, I decided to try the Sennheiser e835. After assurances that if it didn't meet my expectations it could be returned I placed the order. Cody was absolutely right. This review/rating is less about how well the mic performs and it characteristics, and more about the amazing customer service and help I got from Cody. In all honesty, you can buy a mic from anywhere, but Cody took the time to listen to my needs and found me the right mic! Thanks again, man!!
Great mics
The 835 has always been a work horse in our ministry. Great pick up and sound clarity for our vocals!!
Thank you Ben Elder and team!!
For the $$$
It sounds as good or better than mics costing twice as much. I have four of them. I use them for vocals, snare, even guitar cabinets. Very solid workhorse mics.
Sennheiser 835
I actually ordered this by mistake. I recently bought the 835s and was really impressed so I meant to order another one. The 835 is the same quality and sound but doesn't have the on/off switch. Both are great microphones!
Excellent investment
Mic used in a multi-track live stage performance. As a dynamic type, it outperformed my expectations capturing big projecting opera singers even when they were several feet away. For the cost, I couldn't be happier. Cardioid pattern picked was very even.
Color me impressed!
After reading others reviews of this and other Sennheiser vocal mics I decided to buy one. I have used Shure 58's and Beta58's almost exclusively but also have the Shure KSM8 that I've been impressed with. This microphone is $ vs the KSM8 that is $ and it is every bit articulate, clear, and full-bodied. I am a baritone but sing 70-2000's rock, metal, and a lot of Ozzy. This mic is fantastic for my vocal range and allows me to sing naturally without having to force myself to drive my voice in the mix. For an economy vocal microphone you cannot go wrong with this mic period.
Durable and reliable
As I write this, I'm in the Brazilian Amazon using this mic to interview dozens of people in less-than-studio conditions. This mic has great sound, is easy to hold for long periods, and is not a diva when it comes to rough conditions. Thanks for recommending it, Sweetwater!
Good quality mic
This is the mic that came with the kit I ordered and it works just fine. I was concerned about the mic picking up music that was coming from my Fishman amp, but this is not a concern. The microphone is very directional and you would have to set it right in front of the amp and point it directly at the speaker to get it to pick anything up. I like it.
Great for Live or Studio Use!
I initially bought three of these for performing at a wedding. The venue was a smallish basement room and I can say that the off-axis noise rejection is as good as described. I've since used them in my studio and can say that I was equally impressed, these capture a sound not unlike the Shure SMB7. A very solid mic in all respects, and the price is certainly right for them.
What a great Mic
I have 4 of these now. Moved to these when I started my new band because they came highly recommended and they fit my budget. My previous band used Shure SM58's and they are great but in my opinion this mic sounds better out of the box.
Sennheiser e 835 Cardioid Dynamic Mic
I love this mic. I just finished some vocals using it last week and I am beyond pleased with it. As a drummer, I don't do much as far as vocals go, but the Sennheiser made me sound like a real lead vocalist. Sweetwater rocks.
Never going back
Great product at a great price
Shipping was fast and smooth, as always from Sweetwater, product was great, and I'm very satisfied with this purchase
The Best
The Best microphone
Fantastic microphone
I've always been a Shure SM58 guy. But when my Shure finally gave-up, I decided to give Sennheiser a chance. And let me tell you, it's one of the best decisions I've ever made. Wonderful clarity, strong durability.
Good mic for the money
I'm a solo performer with a baritone voice, and I find the 835 to be a very accurate and flattering (for lack of a better term)vocal mic. It fits my somewhat limited range nicely. And they're not kidding in the description when they say it's proximity effect is reduced. Haven't tried it as an instrument mic, so I can't speak to that.
Goodbye Beta58!!
I've been in the Shure camp forever. When my Beta 58 crapped out at a gig, I had to use the spare 835 that my bass player had. My vocals came alive.
Great Mic
Very pleased with it!!!
Best in this price range.
Better clarity and projection than Shure beta 58, tested side by side in dozen's of different venues.
Sennheiser e 835 microphone
Excellent microphone, especially for the price. Just the right amount of directionality.
Love it ! Long Time Favorite
I still love my 20 year old e835 microphone which looks and sounds like new. Handsome, durable, quiet, balanced, and articulate without being sibilant or harsh, full-spectrum with flat response across the entire response curve. I use the e835 for music vocals, computer speech recognition, and amateur radio - with equal satisfaction on all applications. I was a long time microphone and software beta test site for speech recognition vendors and software companies. After testing and reviewing more microphones than I can count, this continues to be a favorite and represents tremendous value for the money. Every mic I test/review goes up against this little gem. And that is just MY take ... your mileage may vary. JR in MI
Sennheiser e 835 Dynamic Microphone
Solid performance handheld, stage microphone. Very pleased with performance!
Expected better than SM58
Expected more from this mic; maybe I don't have PA setup properly.
My go to microphone for live performance
Sennheiser will tell you this mic is optimized for voice. It seems to have a bump somewhere in the 2 or 4k range.
My experience over the last 10 years is that it is a durable, high-gain-before-feedback, great sounding microphone.
Some have compared it to the SM57 for sound quality.
It is a fairly on-axis mic, but if you run some compression, then it is fairly forgiving in that regard.
Good heft in the hand.
It is what I've carried to all my gigs for the last ten years. Dropped on occasion (on cement on occasion) and it has maintained its sound and reliability. I purchased a second one recently as a backup, because it has to fail at some point, right?
Bundle needs mic adapter
I ordered this mic as a bundle with stand and cable. The mic clip doesn't fit into the stand that was shipped. Be aware to also order an adapter from a narrow to wide
As sharp as a condenser, but not harsh...love the sound. Hum-cancelling coil is crucial where I use this. Hard to find these days.
I got this because they were out of SM58s. Each time I get to compare I know I got lucky. I loved the SE-V7, but in several places that had a spiky buzz at the noise floor. The hum-cancelling coil is essential to give this decent voice sound at tricky venues. I liked it at first...then loved it more w/each use. Anti-pop is a bit better than average. The cardioid pattern is very strong: bkgnd noise rejection is great, without the tail of a super-cardioid. I can do voiceover in a semi-treated room. $ range brings out some amazing competition.
It's got pop.
I liked this mic from the very first moment I switched it on - even the empty room ambience sounded good!
And for the price, just buy it already.
SENNHEISER E 835 MICROPHONE
This mic was recommended for me by my Sales Engineer Evan Mehre for my jam circle event. We needed a PA speaker with mic and stand etc. Our singer was amazed at how articulate this mic is and how well it sounds in our small space.
Perfect
Great sound, right out of the box for a male bari-tenor. The microphone is mellow and reflects the true tone of the voice. I love it.
Microphone
This is a better microphone then the other one that I bought.
Microphone
Gives an average sound output. Overpriced for quality output
Sennheiser e 835 vocal microphone
Sennheisere e835
Have purchased 4 other e835's,and now have one for each member of our group.
Love m!
Senheiser e835 vocal Mic is exactly what i needed
after 16 years of using budget vocal mics by reputable manufacturers, i decided to spend a few extra clams to get a powerful mic that would permit headroom on the board. this mic allows me to relax significantly with my vocal delivery at small to festival sized venues & still be heard in an aggressive mix. i chose the one without the switch just because it's one less moving part to wear out; i am confident that the sturdy construction of the e835 will make this vocal mic a gig survivor for decades to come. i've also used this mic in the studio to mic a guitar amp and record percussion with great results. buy with confidence.
Bargain price premium product
Superb sound quality. Really cuts through the mix Replaced 58s with a very noticeable improvement in clarity.
I,m a singer
Bought for GarageBand, may be playing at restaurants and lounge so one of our three guys could sing . I play guitar and there's enough for me to work on, but it looks like I'm nominated to sing now too. Looking at a SM 58 for the long standing clean vocal reputation, bought the Sennheiser instead, and very happy with it. Thanks , I'm a singer.
Great wired mic without breaking the budget
We've used this particular Sennheiser for years and we absolutely love the sound and quality of the 835. Thank you Sweetwater and James Lorann for helping us along the way
Great mic for the price
Absolutely love this mic. For the price there are very few competitors. If you've got the money I'd definitely recommend adding at least one to your mic bag.
Guitarist
Always great service...products
Live Show Tested - Rugged Ace in the Rough
Played all over Pacific Northwest many rooms in Portland with e835 mic. Warm tone can get dialed in and super stable. Not likened to get tinny and feedback, almost impervious to feedback like hotter condensers. Cardiod allow you to back up, let the vocal fly then lower volume and warm back up to it bringing quite a range out and inspiring a heartfelt, engaged sound. The most value, quality and reliabilty, this is one piece of your kit you don't have to question. Best mic holder design slick for any mic but perfect design and still have the pouch. Good investment for pro and inspiring pro. Warmer then '58's with twice the style and elegance.
As expected
Never a disappointment
sennheiser 835
Great mic. It is better for my voice than the sure 58. All of the band members have sennheiser mics. It is easier to mix with everyone having the same mic.
Perfect mic for our church
We are a small church and needed something that sounded great, would stand the test of time and wouldn't break the bank. We know have seven of these e835 mics and they have exceeded our expectations. They are heavy well built mics, no moving parts to go bad or wear out. Just solid work horse mics. No fuss with wireless interference either. Just plug them in and go!
Perfect for voice work
So good I bought it twice. After reviewing it at home, I bought a second one for me voice acting partner.
great high end sound
This Mic has all the bright highs and clean Mids. Great Mic if your voice is in the tenor range including highs on acoustic instruments. Very satisfied with this high end German based quality.
A Decent Vocal Mic
The E835 isn't a bad vocal mic, but for my personal taste it's not great either. It has a fairly large proximity effect, whih can result in a pretty hefty bass response. Other than that it's fairly flat. In my opinion so flat sounding that it lacks character. It seems to be a solid mic, but I was left wanting in terms of sonic character.
No Disappointment Here -- Best Sounding Mic!!
Senn e835 is the only mic you'll need for live vocal performances. If you love the SM58, you're gonna LOVE the e835 … no comparison!!
Sennheiser e 835
Very nice mic as an alternative to the SM58. Seems to have a great dynamic range with possibly improved feedback rejection.
e835 microphone
BEST MIC !!!!
Buy this mic!
Tried and true mic! Gig ready, tough and sounds phenomenal.
Mic for the price
This A great vocal mic.. And the deal for the price I just couldn't refuse.
Blends better with our Sennheiser wireless mics
I play keys, so a wired mic works best for me. However, our sound tech commented that it was challenging to blend my vocal on The Standard wired microphone with our Sennheiser wireless mics - too much bass proximity effect and less midrange presence. The e835 is the same capsule as our wireless systems and is easier to mix. I think it's also a better fit for my vocal when I work the mic a little closer anyway. It took a little EQ to get it to sit right for me, but overall, I'm very happy with it. This mic also has a really nice quality, solid feel.
Did a great job!
Brought this out for a group last nite who were used to using other brands. They were using same mic for vocals and an instrument at times and did a great job. Has a warm natural sound. Even used on a female vocalist with very slight eq at all. Seemed to work well on anything or anyone.
Great microphone with an even better warranty
I don't claim to have the world's best ear, but I sing in a duo that plays local gigs and wanted a professional quality microphone. This one sounds great, and the warranty gives me confidence that it will last a long time. I have also used SM58s for years, and this mic seems every bit as good.
Seems to be a great mic
I am no expert on microphones, but I recently started performing as part of a duo and wanted a pro quality mic for our shows. After much research I found that the SM58 and e835 were typical choices for professional live use.
I decided on the Sennheiser because of the fantastic warranty. To my ear, the mic sounds fantastic. My voice comes through clearly and articulately, and these have a reputation for durability.
Simple Elegance
This is just a simple dynamic carioid mic. No frills, but sounds awesome. Ran it through a tube preamp and it has me wanting another one. Well built. Looks like it could take to the road easily.
e835 Mic
I picked up 3 of these for an open mic I run in my area. My SM58's are old and still work fine but one night I sang into an e835 at a friends open mic and said, time to invest. The first night I set up my frontline with these mics was Fantastic. Exactly what I was looking for. Every performer liked them. I was able to dial in each different voice tamber very quickly with the positive result in every persons face while performing. I am very glad to have these and recommend them highly.
First impressions - WOW!
Just bought THREE of these e835 mics with stands, cables, etc. Set them up in our home studio and just did some sound check stuff. WOW! These mics are hot, picking up every little sound from lows to highs. We are going to be using them as practice mics, but they may become our performance mics pretty quickly when my sound guys hear them. AND the deal on the sets were pretty amazing as well. When you buy Sennheiser, it seems you are paying more than for others, BUT they are worth it. In this guys opinion, they are as good as it gets in this price range and maybe the next step up.
SM58 killer
The title says it all....
Nice mic
Not much of a singer but the microphone is awesome especially with the loudbox 120 thanks Sweetwater
sennheiser e835 mic
This is the first real mic I ever bought, I was surprised at how well it recorded my voice and how I could finally hear ever word I sung. I'm very happy with this product. Spent 4 hours recording last night and it's the best recordings I've ever had.
Nice
Great mic for my needs. It sure beats my old Mr Microphone.
Sennheiser e 835
nice sounding microphone, sounds really nice in the larger system.
Personal favorite dynamic in my Studio!
I got an excellent deal on 3 packages that came with this mic, stands and a cable for each. This mic blew me away with the clarity and crispness on the vocals! I never would have expected such great quality with the deal I got on this microphone! I love this mic and it has become a dynamic staple in my studio!
Super mic for male vocals
I bought my 1st years, ago, for me. I loved it for my voice and style. I joined a duo recently, and the addition of a 2nd 835 has been perfect. Easy to eq 2 and great feedback rejection. I'd take these for male rock vocals over a 58 all day long.
Very good microphone
This microphone came as part of the Fishman Loudbox Mini package. It"s a very goid microphone for both guitar or vocal. I am very satisfied with its solid construction and performance.
Gary Z Amazed with Senheiser e835
Wow Chris Sonia said I would like the e835 ! YES I DO !!!!!
My Go To Vocal Mic
Sennheiser 3835 Mic
Does an okay job with vocals, but to get stronger bass or upper register you have to be right on it. I'd say it's similar to a Shure SM 58. Have okay frequency response to my ear though.
Great Mic!!
Tremendous difference, I received one of these as a bonus item when I purchased a Loud Box Mini. I was floored how much more clarity and volume this microphone put out. Enables me to perform with greater ease and confidence.
Good sound
This mic has really good sound, a good choice for any performance!
Good sound
This mic has really good sound, a good choice for any performance!
Nice
Very nice for a cheap mic.
Super Mic
This Sennheiser captures all the high and low tones with exceptional accuracy...love it
Still figuring it out
Came Free with my purchase and the only thing is I am just old school. I would like an ON/OFF switch. I will figure it out.
Good Mic!
Got the Sennheiser in the package deal with a Cushman LoudBox Mini... I'm Shure this is the only way folks look away from the competing workhorse mic. I have no regrets! The mic captured great vocals for the outdoor crowd and from the recording, you'd never know the park was next to a busy town street.
Clear Sound
My band mates finally talked me into singing some, so I bought this mic out of the blue. I have a low vocal range and this mic delivers it on note. Great product. Great deal.
Clear Sound
My band mates finally talked me into singing some, so I bought this mic out of the blue. I have a low vocal range and this mic delivers it on note. Great product. Great deal.
Sennheiser mic
Seeing that I received the mic, boom, & accessories all free when I purchased the Fishman Amp, I am very satisfied once again with Sweetwater, as well as my sales associate, Stephen Oppenheim.
Clear mic for vocals
We have used these before for live vocals. Very clear. Good Price. No reason to look anywhere else.
Good Quality Mic!
I purchased this mic as part of a package and it has worked perfectly. Very solid construction and good sound for our backyard musical evenings. While I am not a professional, I am familiar with Sennheiser products and this one is of the quality you would expect from this brand.
SM58 , watch your back
I needed a mike that would define male vocals and harmonica with good feedback rejection and more of a bite. This is the mike for you. Cuts though nicely, and -- for me -- performs better than the SM58.
good bang for the buck
I already use e945's with my band and wanted to get some vocal mics for when I'm doing sound for other bands without using our high dollar mics. These certainly do the job. I had been using sm58's over the years and I have to say I am much happier with the 835's. They really have a nice sound, but the biggest difference so far has been the lack of feedback issues. Once I had them eq'd it was set and forget. I will definitely be buying more of these!
Awesome mic
I give this mic 5 stars all around it's a good solid mic. We have them for vocals and they work awesome. Very clear and crisp.
Nice mic
This is a nice mic for the price. Has good clarity and has a good feel to it. It does seem a little quiet and needs a little extra volume boost. Overall it's worth buying.
Great Live Sound
I have used this for lead vocals for the past four years. It is powerful and clear. Other members of the band use the Shure SM58. I have to turn mine down it overpowers the Shure mics. If vocals are your strength use this mic!
Sennheiser e835
Very good , changed this mic. from a very old SM58 and this one performed very good. Rugged and well built
Professional grade Mic
In my opinion this mic is comparable to a Shure SM 57 or 58 and priced about the same. Works great, crystal clear. It came with the singer song writer package when I bought the Fishman Loudbox Acoustic 120 watt amp along with a bunch of other great accessories. I wasn't sure what I was getting, but I am impressed.
Excellent mic for live vocal or instrumental work
This mic has all the quality that Sennheiser puts into all its products and it lives up to Sennheiser's reputation for clarity. This mic doesn't color the sound at all, but instead simply picks up all the nuances of the sound in a very transparent manner. It's not heavy so it is excellent for hand-held use, and each mic comes with a mic stand clip at no extra price for use with a stand. It also comes with a zippered padded pouch for storing the mic when not in use.
Great service
I am very pleased with the purchase from your store.
Your customer service is above and beyond.
I will be sure to buy again from Sweetwater.
Thanks
Bob
Good Mic
As advertised and sounds fine.
Fishmann Loudebox
Very impressed with the range of tone I am getting on this small amp using a Taylor 214 CE Koa - hope to play a bit more in the coming days - been a sluggish and soggy start out here in Northern CA,.
Evolution mic
I had a chance to use one of these prior to purchase knew I was getting an awesome mix
Smooth sounding mic
I like the smooth sound of this mic thru my PA system. Feedback rejection is very good. A better choice for me in this price range.
Fabulous
Love the sound quality from this Mic.
Got a dozen.
Outstanding Mic!
This mic has tremendous response. Very affordable and it EASILY can compete with a Shure sm-58. I highly recommend and the price point makes it a no-brainer. Super-solid metal body gives it a pro feel. Buy one.
Nice solid mic, Sounds great to me.
I'm a singer and definitely not a sound engineer or audio gear expert so I don't have much experience with comparing different microphones. I was shocked that this nice quality microphone came FREE with my Fishman Loudbox Mini guitar amp. Thanks Sweetwater.
Sennheiser e835 Live Vocal Microphone
The Sennheiser e835 came in a package deal with the Fishman Loudbox Mini 60 watt acoustic amp. I used it for vocals at a backyard wedding and it worked great. Very affordable as well.
Great Add On Item.
I may never use this microphone. I bought the Fishman Loudbox and for the same price as the Loudbox they had an offer for mic, cable, cover, stand and tuner. If there's ever need for a mic I have one.
Your new vocal mics!
These are an amazing alternative and improvement over Shure as vocal mics! Highly versatile, possessing excellent spectral balance. Appears to be very well built(in Germany). Very well priced in a 3 pack. Love having a choice besides SM58. Thank you, Senheiser, and Sweetwater!
Great Deal
Works and sound like a good sax mic. I will use it in my show
Great mics
I bought the 3 pack of these and they are great sounding vocal mics.
Great Microphone
I bought 6 of these and are using them almost every weekend. They sound very good. They are just a bit more sensitive than the Audix mics I was using (i5). They are just that more prone to feedback.
Sennheiser e835 mic
This mic was included in the Fishman Loudbox Mini 60W package so I actually paid little to nothing for it - it works very well and produces a clear sound when used with that amp. Haven't tried it in any other capacity, but I am very pleased with what I'm doing with it. Convenient size and shape.
Awesome!
I've used an e835 for some time, now all of us use e835's! Great sound, reliable and economical!
Very good range
Really just getting to testing these. But I like the great response from close up to about 12 inches out. Allows us to control our dynamics on our own. They seem very durable too.
Wow!!!
I've been using Sure 58's for many, many years. Since I got this mic. I have not even used my 58's anymore. This mic. is amazing! The warmth, the pickup ability from distances above 4" and literally everything about it is great. I can't think of anything I don't like about it.
My e835 does not sound good.
I received my e835 as part of a package deal with the LoudBox Mini. I have tried to use the mic on several occasions. The output level before feedback is just not good. In addition, there is a distortion in the signal when you sing right on top of it. I have A/B'd with other mics and there is no distortion with the same setup. It may be a bad capsule... So be careful when you buy this mike and make sure you get one that works!!!!!
just above Great
Thanks to Sweetwater the price on this mike makes a very good mike even better. Absolutely no complaints.
School Choir Mics
What a great deal the school purchased, money well spent . A bundle of 3 Microphones Sennheiser e835 , , 3 stands and 3 25"feet of cable . Parents are amazed of the clear and beautiful sound the Sennheiser mics puts out . Thank you Sweetwater for recommending this bundle.
Perfect Mic for me.
For my own voice... I'll take one of these over an SM58 any day. I sound dull on a 58, but the E835 gets me that extra sparkle that I have to go all the way to a Beta58 to get.. Love these mics....
clear sound
Great deal, good sounding microphone and quality. I've used the shure microphones for thirty five years
for rock and roll country and gospel this sennheiser is a good product.
Replace my SM58
I got the mic as part of the songwriter's package. Just for the heck of it I tried it out and immediately retired the SM58.
Great
Best I have ever used - have another being delivered this morning
Sennheiser e835
I was considering a Shure SM 58, but chose this one to try it out. It's actually a great mic - comparable to the Shure. Recommended.
Nice mic!
This mic works very well for voice ,or instrument ....and getting it free as part of the song wrighters package was a big plus !
BLOWN AWAY BY A WINDSCREEN!
OK guys! Stop right here. Get this one. Seriously fine sounding microphone. Adding a simple
foam windscreen to this dynamic and its money very well spent! Will give some very high dollar
condensers scary competition. Add a CL1 Cloudlifter and BAM! .. Verrry tough to beat!
BLEW ME AWAY WITH A WINDSCREEN!
The e835 can get a bit sibilant and can definitely be susceptible to pop noise. But wanna get blown away? Just add a decent foam windscreen on this puppy! As someone who owns both a Shure SM7B and the venerable AKG C414. With that mod alone, you won't be sorry you did! But to hear a boost beyond expectations, add a Cloudlifter CL1 sometime to your mix. Makes this dynamic jewel sound
shockingly IMHO better than a whole lot of seriously high-dollar condenser mics, cheap!
Sennheiser e835
I have used Shure microphones almost all of music career, (40 + years), a friend told me about these mics, so I bought one. The clarity is unbelievable. I have changed my vocal and guitar amp to Sennheiser now.
And as always Matt Keager at Sweetwater made everything simple and smooth to get me my product.
Great Mic
Great vocal reproduction at a great price!
Great Microphone
This microphone sounds great. No complaints here.
Good, but prone to popping
I agree its better than the venerable SM58. Frequency response is good - low end holds up well and it has the typical 6 dB rise around 5 kHz which gives some crispness to vocals. It sounds great, but It seems prone to popping on plosives ("P" consonants), much more than my favorite mic, Audio Technica AE 6100. Proximity effect is there but not as pronounced as some other mics. I recommend using the 75-80 Hz high pass filter many preamps & mixers offer. There is nothing of interest below 100 Hz for vocals, and this would help reduce plosive popping..
Better than Shure 58
Great crisp highs and lows with no coloring
Great Mic!
Sound quality is superb. Hard to go back to other mics we've used in the past.
Great Mic for free?
I got this mic as a bundle from the amp I bought. The price is comparable to shure SM58. I cant complaint cause I got it for free. I still prefer my Electro Voice N/D767a. But its a good back up mic for me.
The Go-To
This is it guys; the $100 vocal mic you need to use for every show by default. I've owned a 58 and an encore 100, and used an OM2, and this is, in my opinion, the best. It's not cloudy, and it's clear, but not piercing or shrill. I've used it for rock and big band now, and it's really done a great job at both.
Just today, I took off the grill and recorded on it with a windscreen. Wow!!! sounds better on me than my NT2.
Durability is also solid, I've dropped it a ton of times already, no problems.
All in all, if I had to pick one mic to run a band I knew NOTHING about with, I'd pick this mic. Pick it up, you'll be glad you did
Dynamic Is The Word !!!
This mic lives up to its write up. It picks up sound and it comes through clear and crisp. Enjoyable to use.
Great Deal
For decades I've been a staunch user and advocate for the Shure SM 58 microphone. Don't get me wrong, the SM 58 is no slouch. A few years ago, I was introduced to a Sennheiser wireless microphone and was blown away by it's performance. I did some research an learned that the wired version was designated e835. So... after accumulating some gift cards I decided to invest them into the purchase of my first Sennheiser microphone, the e835. Needles to say, the performance lived up to my expectations. The e835 is solid, and durably designed. It's sensitive and warm to sing on yet doesn't "explode" the low frequencies. I'm glad I made this purchase and, of course, you can't make a bad deal when you order your gear from Sweetwater. Thanks again Sweetwater for taking good care of me.
e835 mic
I haven't used it much but so far it is great.
Everything I need.
Got this mic on Ian's recommendation and it does everything I need. The first night I used it our "soundman" had no trouble setting it up with no feedback, something which my previous mic that this replaced had troubles with. Very satisfied with it.
835s Are Great!
835s have replaced SM58s as my go-to vocal mic. 'nuf said.
Sennheiser e835
Nice mic for the price. Quality built.
Country Western singer
My Sennheiser e835-Switchlessmic works very well for me. It is so far ahead of the one I have been using for years.I would highly recommend it.
Good Mic
I'm not not a real expert on mics... Tested it side by side with my SM-58 and although slightly different, it seems comparable. Looks durable. The mic stand clip is nice and tight.
Excellent Product
Great product!
Excellent mic
Great mic for professional live sound.
Clear and very low distortion, excellent for pop music.
Sennheiser as usual, TOP NOTCH
Decent mike, has nice tone and looks good. I have only used this during practice but can't wait to use during live performances.
E 835
Very good product and good service
Sennheiser e835 package
Sweetwater delivers again. The mic is great and the stand and chord coming together let me get started right away. Goes great with my Fishman Loudbox.
Stiff competition to the SM58
I actually prefer the sound of this mic over the industry standard SM58, but I'm sure that is just a matter of taste. I think the sound of this mic would work well on any voice at a live show and I plan on adding a few more of these to my arsenal.
Great Mic
This is a really great mic for its price range. Stands up to the good ol' SM58 in every respect.
Great Price Great Mics
For what you pay, these are great live mics that do just about everything I need them to.
Bang for your buck
This mic is not only a clean looking mic for the corporate events, but it also steps up to the plate with performance. For the money, you can't go wrong with it.
e835 highly recommended
This is a mic everyone who does live sound should have. It has a more transparent sound than the 58s, perhaps better for multi-part vocal harmonies where things can get stuffy sounding. Between 58s and the e835, you could cover most voices/performances and get a good live sound. For the price, highly recommended and a perfect complement to the 58s.
Sennheiser Mic Review
Great mic. We purchased this mic as a replacement for an older mic and really like the quality and sound. Nice to be able to purchase a quality piece of equipment for such a low price.
Would recommend highly.
Great Mic
Great microphone for on a budget. Good quality and doesn't really pic up background noise. I plug this into my AudioBox USB and it sounds great! Needs a lot of gain but overall and great mic for live performances and for recording in the studio.
The best!
I love this microphone, professional quality sound!
Lovin' this mic
After a few gigs with this mic, I couldn't be happier. I've always used SM 57 & 58's for vocals. No complaints, but this mic has a lighter, breathier timbre, which I'm really enjoying. A very expressive tool. I think it will stand up on the road as I'm not planning on beating it and hoping not to drop it. A tremendous value for the price.
Mic sounds like it cost more
For live sound, put these things wherever you can on the stage. They sound amazing. You won't find a better balanced, better feeling, better sounding mic for $99.
Needs more work
This mike has great sound. It works well in all ranges and my recordings are excellent. That was until I dropped it and the quality was gone. It's a great microphone, but don't drop it.
The Sennheiser e835 - Switchless
This microphone produces a good sound, the only reason that I gave it a 4.5 was that it does not have a on/off switch.
sounds great
I got my Sennheiser e835 on a combo deal and wasn't expecting a Shure Quality mic to be honest. I use a Shure Beta 58 condensor mic normally and compared to that one, I am pleasantly pleased to say the gain of the e835 surpasses it in my tests. I sing baritone harmony with a 4 man band and tried this one against the Shure after trying it at home. Its a great mic and I prefer to use it now.
Great Workhourse Mic
This is not the best dynamic vocal mic you could buy, but it is a great sounding, easy to control, built like a tank, workhorse mic. I have seven. I'm not going to get into the "it's better tha a 58" thing. It's different than a 58. I have a bunch of those too. I personally prefer the e835 in most cases. For the money, especially if you buy the 3 pack, I will say these are the best value on the market.
Awesome!
Best mic I've ever heard. I've never heard my voice this way before. Thank you Sweetwater, and thank you Sennheiser!
Great live vocal mic
I've been in the biz for over 40 years. I've always used SM58's, unless mics were supplied by sound companies. I know they're not the best sounding mic but it was reliable and sound people knew what to do with it.
Recently I joined a vocal group playing local venues and using their own system, and they all use Sennheiser e835. So, not to have the odd ball mic, I ordered one from Sweetwater. I immediately noticed a difference in clarity and overall sound quality; very pleasing in my in-the-ear monitor.
The e835 is now my mic of choice. And the cost is about the same as the 58!
This mic has brought a crisp sound to the vocal's at our church
Most of the time when a singer sing's they will at one time find themselves not on the mic, they seem to be off center. With this mic we have noticed that if you go off center a little, it still pick's up the vocal's very well. This mic makes your vocal's sound very crisp. We are looking at getting more of these mics.
SENNHEISER VOCAL MIC
I love this MIC i have always used a Shure and thought it was the best but a vocal coach recommended the Sennheiser e835 and I am so glad she did. Thank you for your excellent customer service. I am very happy.
One of the best mics I have ever worked with!
I absolutely love this mic! It made my vocals crystal clear. I own two Beta 58s and this Sennheiser sounds every bit as good as they do if not beter. I can't imagine how good the next level up sounds.
e835: Sparkling vocals onstage
I used a pair of these for my duo, The Blenderz, for several years after using EV 757 mics in the past. For me, successful vocal mic'ing requires a very clean, airy high end for great presence and clarity. While the EV's always did a good job, the sound of these Sennheisers was even more amazing. No matter what you are used to using onstage, these mics are sure to be a step up (or several steps up if you have been using dull-sounding Shure SM-whatevers). And for the price?! There is simply no comparison without spending hundreds more (like on the EV RE200 or similar). I highly recommend this microphone for stage vocals.
Recommended
Crispy sound, light weight, great for any performance . Best for the price range.
AWESOME MIC!
Purchased these microphones for the church! All I can say is that it changed the whole atmosphere! I recommend this mic to all live performers.
Great Mic, a little better than the standard SM58
Only thing that is taking getting used to is the fact that it's a flat end as opposed to the bulbous end of the SM58. Great mic though
Sound Great, but don't last
This mic sounds great - excellent clarity. The windscreen and body are very durable - they do not show wear easily. Compared to a 58, they sound better and hold up better aesthetically.
My main gripe - I have owned 5 of these for about 5 years, and have had two simply stop working. Meanwhile the 58's that I have that are all beat up and look like they were bought in the 70's are still working great. I am going back to 58's to replace the e835's that go out.
Great mic, Great price
A slight but noticeably warmer sound than the popular mics I've been using for 25 years. I replaced all my band vocal mics (6 mics) with these. Can't beat the price for the quality you are getting
Sennheiser e835 top notch
I have used the SM58 for yrs its been my go to road mic but, the e835 has better high end response without giving up any low end. Its now my new go to. Try it for yourself. You'll see!
Great Road Mic
I only gave it a 4.5 because I personally don't like the shape of the mic. But it works great - better response than the Shure SM58 and seems to take a beating better also. I would recommend this for all you live sound guys who work for more than one band.
Great Mic for the Price
These mics are just great. I have been using them for about 5 years now and purchased them in a 3 pack. At the price of the 3 pack, they are practically giving them away. They blow away Shure Sm58's, which i had used for years prior to that, but was always a bit disappointed with the sound. Since using the e835, my entire band has switched to them, about 4 other musicians that I work with from time to time have switched, and now I am looking at the e945. I will never use anything other than Sennheiser for a live vocal mic again. For this price range, these are as good as it gets and then some.
Sennheiser great mics!
I have been using the e835's and have been pleased with their performance which is slightly higher than the industry standard Shure SM58.
Sennheiser mics - what more can I say?
I've used Sennheiser products before and found, for the price, they are more than adequate for live performances.
Can you say KILLER
These mikes have an awsome reponse and clarity and I recommend them to all bands.
Nice!!!
We're just starting with sound and have a lot of hand me downs. The hand held mic we had was from an electronics store left everything to be desired. When I plugged the Sennheiser e385 in for the first time I was very impressed. Excellent pickup, beautiful, clear sound and a price that fit our budget beautifully.
A must have.
A solid, low noise mic with a very crisp response. I will not buy any other type mic for live play.
Great Mic
I have 3 e845 and this was on sale at Gear Fest and the price was right so I figured I would give it a try. I both the e835 and e845 over the SM58 and Beta58. The mids and highs are a lot more crisp and clear
Broke after one use
The microphone failed after a single use. The mic dropped from a height about 5 feet from the mic stand to the stage floor. No apparent damage to the outside of the mic but we found the internal coil near the diaphragm "opened" and unrepairable. Can't beat the Shure SM58 for durability.
THIS should be the standard.
This mic has a clarity and response that kicks the 58's butt. It's durable, and requires less massaging than mics like the 58. I know Shure talks a good game, and the talking has worked for them, but the e835 should be the live handheld standard.
Clear Sound
Shure SM 58 and SM 57 don't even come close to this mic. If the company Shure was selling this mic, they would probably sell it for $995.00 plus shipping.
Good mic, tight pick up pattern
Kick the SM58
I have always believed in the sm58 as the standard for durability meets quality sound never really blaming it for having to crank my highs on the board to 3 o'clock. On a whim switched to the e835 and started with all knobs at 12 o'clock raised the high to 12:30....low to 12:30 and got a perfect sound from both my voice(bass) and my wifes(suprano)! Insane quality, clarity, and durability. Just pick one up and you'll fall in love.
Outstanding!
ALWAYS BRING YOUR OWN MIC!
e835 is 2nd e865 is no.1!!!
Neglect Shure like some "don`t wanna have step child" because this is your proffesional and only choice for pro and beginners!Try singing axl rose`s songs on shure?NOT POSSIBLE!!David coverdale uses this EXCALIBUR so you dont need more questions..Its flaws are hardly any cause this baby makes your voice sound like a opera frontmen singin in Iron Maiden:) Imagine that..Simple its Awesome. But comparing to its younger brother e865..he is only older:) I can now sing everything:G`N`R,Whitesnake,Maiden, purple, zeppelin you name it! and sounds realy great!.The gigs are now my dream come true,no more SHURE NIGHTMARES!!My oppinion for shure:ONLY for weadings!:)Thank you sennhizer.Long live sennheizer
