This is one of the most useful tips to come along in quite a while – specifically for guitar players who have a Bigsby vibrato tailpiece. As you have no doubt noticed, when restringing, you need to keep tension on the string, otherwise the ball-end comes loose from the string retainer pin (If you don’t own a guitar with a Bigsby, this probably doesn’t make sense to you). If you don’t keep the tension, the ball-end will slip off the pin, so once you have the string on the pin, pull it tight and then use a capo somewhere along the neck to keep it tight while you run it down to the appropriate tuner. Ta-dah! Mission accomplished! Hint: Some capos work better than others. Use one that can be adjusted with just one hand.
