Popless Guitar Changes

We’ve all learned the hard way that unplugging a guitar from a live amplifier can result in a loud pop — annoying and potentially damaging to speakers. To prevent this, you could switch the amp to standby, or, simply pull the plug partially out of the amp’s input jack. Disconnecting the cable on the amp end won’t cause the loud pop, so this works whether you are changing guitars, inserting or removing pedals from your signal chain, or swapping out cables.
