Overwrapped Tailpiece

A guitar stringing technique used by some players on guitars with stop tailpieces, where the string is brought into the tailpiece from the front (bridge side), out the back, and wrapped up and over the tailpiece to pass over the bridge. (As opposed to normal stringing, where the string passes through the rear of the tailpiece, out the front, then over the bridge.)

Overwrapping reduces the string tension and also changes the break angle of the string over the bridge, which can affect sustain. But, it allows the tailpiece to be screwed down tight to the body, which can also affect sustain.
