Universal Audio has announced the release of new UAD plug-ins. Two are from the UAD 4K series: the UAD 4K Channel Strip and the UAD 4K Buss Compressor. Both offer emulation of the SSL 4000 G+ console. The Channel Strip includes the Type E “black knob” 4-band EQ, which is a favorite among engineers. The Buss Compressor offers simple controls and transparent compression, modeled on the 4000 G+ buss compressor.
Universal Audio also unveiled the Cooper Time Cube Mk II for UAD-2 (does not support UAD-1), which models the vibe of the original mechanical delay that was codesigned by Duane H. Cooper and Bill Putnam. Two delay lines can be set independently, with separate Delay, Decay, Pan, and Volume controls. Each delay line also has tempo sync. Other controls include Treble and Bass, Highpass filter, and Wet Solo. A “Coils” selection re-creates the original Time Cube sound, and analog-style metering provides visual feedback.
Universal Audio also released version 5.3.0 software for the UAD platform. In addition to free 14-day demos of the new UAD 4K and Cooper Time Cube Mk II plug-ins, enhancements and improvements have been added to all platforms, including Macintosh VST, RTAS, and Audio Units, as well as Windows VST and RTAS.
