New in Stock Special Edition

New in Stock Special Edition

Today inSync brings you a New in Stock Bonanza! We’ve been receiving so much great new gear lately we haven’t been able to keep up.

The “Special Edition” of the MX-2424 hard disk recorder recently arrived from Tascam. The “Special Edition” is basically the same as the original, but without the internal hard drive. Instead, it comes with a pre-installed 18gig Hot Swap drive in the front bay.

Specially crafted to make a guitarist’s heart fill with thoughts of ownership, the Gibson L-5 hollow-body might be the ultimate guitar for jazz and blues. . . but not JUST jazz and blues. Scotty Moore used an L-5 hollow-body on all those Elvis records he played on. This is a beautiful instrument featuring a carved spruce top, tap-tuned w/scalloped bracing, gold hardware, and highly figured solid maple sides and back. And it’s all handmade! They also just delivered their Blues King Electro, a beautiful single cutaway acoustic/electric guitar with gold hardware and pearl inlays.

Paul Reed Smith’s new Tremonti guitar just came through our doors and got a big reception. How big? You could say we welcomed it with arms wide open. This is the signature guitar of Mark Tremonti, guitarist with big-time unit shifters Creed. It features a distinctive, deep black finish, Mark’s signature on the twelfth fret, and one heck of a hard rock sound.

JBL’s booming subwoofer, the MP418SP, just rolled through our doors. This is an extremely versatile compact, powered, single 18″ bass-reflex subwoofer system featuring a dual-channel Crown amplifier with signal processing in incorporated into the system. Designed for portable applications, the MP418SP includes heavy-duty, 3-inch casters and ergonomically positioned steel carry handles.

Not only are the Soundelux U99, U195, and Elux 251 microphones new in stock, the company is making its first appearance at Sweetwater. Soundelux mics blew us away with their ability to reproduce the tone of some of the most sought-after vintage microphones in the world. The U195 is a reproduction of the 47FET mic produced back in the 60s. The U195 has been called “two mics in one,” as it allows the user to select between “fat” and “norm” modes for bass response tailoring, as well as providing a low-cut switch. The U99 reproduces the sound of the U67 tube mic, providing a high-end sparkle and beefy low mids for vocals. And the 251, well…this is an excellent rendition of what is truly one of the most sought after microphones in history, the Telefunken ELAM 251. The originals have been known to go for $15,000 to $25,000. The Soundelux version is only $5k. Plus, the painstaking design of the ELUX 251 ensures consistent quality sound and performance you can’t find in vintage gear.

TC Electronic just sent us their VoiceCraft Human Voice Modeling Card. This is the card that’s included in their VoicePrism Plus vocal processor, but if you already have the original VoicePrism, the VoiceCraft allows you to upgrade to the voice modeling capabilities of the VoicePrism Plus. And trust us, if you own the VoicePrism, you will want to upgrade with the VoiceCraft card. The VoiceCraft card is one of the coolest things we’ve heard in a long time. Basically, it allows you to an incredible range of control over the human voice, letting you manipulate vocals in the same way some modeling technology lets you manipulate instrument or amp sounds.

Besides getting two thumbs up in the “Cool Name” category, Tech 21’s Killer Wail just plain rocks. It’s an incredibly versatile and musical “WAH” pedal that delivers Olympic-sized “WAH” effects of all type and persuasion. You get three great “WAH” modes for a full range of incredible sound.

BOSS just sent us their groovebox/sampler, the SP-505. BOSS has packed a ton of features into the SP-505, making this a formidable construction tool for any beat architect. You get 8 voice of CD-quality sampling, and the ability to edit your samples with a host of handy functions like “Chop,” which divides loops and can map individual samples to pads, and “Pitch,” which lets you play back samples at new pitches, just like on a keyboard. There is also a BPM function, plus 64 onboard tones onboard, including drum, bass, keyboard, synth sounds, and more. The price ain’t bad, either.

Roland’s sleek new F-90 88-note digital piano boasts a lot of favorite features from other Roland digital pianos, like excellent stereo-sampled piano and instrument sounds and onboard speakers. It’s designed – and priced – for any musician who demands a high-quality instrument for home use.

Audio Ease just sent us their Altiverb plug-in, a sampled acoustics processor for Digital Performer and MAS that offers stunningly realistic one-, two-and four-channel sampled acoustics of real halls, churches, forests, bathrooms – and virtually any real acoustic environment. It even lets you sample acoustic spaces – or hardware reverbs – on your own.

Yamaha’s AG Stomp is the world’s first modeling preamp for acoustic guitar, letting acoustic guitarists in on some of that groovy modeling action. AG Stomp delivers a menu of simulated mic placements and provides a full, natural acoustic tone.

Also just in is Tascam’s latest low-cost, high-quality pro CD player. The reliable CD-160 is designed for studio and system installations and includes some first-rate features and functions.

Shure just sent us their brand new studio cardioid condenser mic, the KSM27. This is great for a wide variety of vocal and instrument applications.

The new iBooks are in from Apple. This really is desktop computer power in a portable package, making it easier than ever for you to take your recording system or MIDI system on the road with you. Plus, these iBooks comes with lots of extras, like iTunes and iMovie. The iBookDVD600 includes a DVD-ROM drive, while the iBookCom600 includes both a DVD drive and a CD-RW drive.

Also, another brand new super iMac just arrived from Apple, this one packing a 700mhz PowerPC G3 processor with 256k on-chip. Two USB ports (12 Mbps each) on computer and two 400Mbps FireWire (IEEE 1394) ports. There’s also a built-in microphone for speech recognition and audio recording, and a CD-RW.
