Native Instruments has announced MASCHINE MK2, MASCHINE MIKRO MK2, and MASCHINE software version 1.8, which will be launched on October 1, 2012. Here’s what’s new in the upcoming generation:
MASCHINE MK2
- Available in black or white.
- Assignable, color-coding for hardware pads and group buttons that light up.
- NI’s MASSIVE legendary soft synth is now included.
- New Master section, with major improvements over volume, tempo, swing, navigation, beat creation, and more, including 47 backlit buttons and colored transport controls.
- Time stretch and pitch shift capability.
- New effects, including Transient Master for drum and percussion mixing, as well as new Tube, Tape Saturator, and Tube Saturator effects.
- Inverted displays for better visibility and contrast under all lighting conditions.
- Slightly heavier hardware controller with rubber feet.
- Reworked USB and MIDI connections.
- Optional MASCHINE CUSTOM KITS with exchangeable magnetic faceplates and knobs in five color schemes.
- Optional MASCHINE STAND (also compatible with original MASCHINE hardware).
- Host DAW transport control (not compatible with Pro Tools).
- New browser sample preview mode.
- Revised select screen.
- Auto-write pinning for automation recording.
- New hardware shortcuts.
- Panic button.
- Improved missing sample handling.
