You'll put your eye out, kid!

By Steve B. from Portland, OR

Man the edges of this thing are sharp. It will poke you hard if you aren't careful; NI needs to throw some chamfers on these bad boys. Also, what's up with the buttons? All that clicking and clacking is louder than a 70's TV remote - paging through presets and pages creates an unholy racket.

Great key bed though, like an adorable little DX-7, and decently sized. More springy and much less squishy than Arturia. Velocity is meh. Pots are actually pretty decent; good resistance and grip.

Dependency on Komplete Kontrol software for full functionality is a drag, but does make editing parameters on virtual instruments a bit more accessible. Make sure to watch some YouTube videos if you are already in other ecosystems like Arturia. Setting up MIDI CC stuff is pretty decent, and paging through controls is reasonable, so this makes for a good alternative to KK if you want to spend the time mapping your controls. Of course, you need KK Software to actually set up and configure the MIDI CCs before you use them, so...

The LCD screen is surprisingly functional despite its size, and MIDI CCs can be named so mapping to your favorite synth is pretty effective, provided you can take an upper limit of 32 continuous controls and no buttons / switches.

Good if you want a small keyboard I will say the velocity on the keys aren't super accurate but that just means a little more touchup at the end

Garbage hardware from a garbage company.

By Edward M. from LOS ANGELES, CA

Had for about a year, and then one day I plugged the USB into my computer, the read-out said "firmware update in progress," and it never exited this message. Completely bricked, completely unusable. Native Instruments support was entirely unhelpful. They wanted me to ship this $100-something piece of gear back to Germany to evaluate! They absolutely refused to just send a replacement. Again, this is an inexpensive piece of gear, and one would think NI would want eat the $35 or whatever cost in order to maintain goodwill. NI is not a hardware company or even a music company, they are a subscription service company. Bad for music, bad for musicians.

Velocity Woes

By mr.nuklz from Fenton, MO

This unit is physically pretty well-constructed. I like the integration of Komplete Kontrol with my various NI software. The velocity curve is terrible. Terrible. The worst I have experienced, even compared to the few cheapo keyboards I've owned in the past. According to NI tech support, there is no way to adjust this. I regret not sending this item back within the return window. Now, after 2 years, the unit randomly powers on and off. Beware.

A great choice for students and beginners!

By Kimberley from Bronx, NY
Music Background: Digital Music Student

It took me a solid three or four months of learning as much as I possibly could about MIDI keyboards online and in class before I finally felt confident enough to make my purchase and I am happy to report that the M32 was well worth the wait. It is sleek, affordable and comes with a limited amount of knobs and buttons, which makes it quite easy for a student/beginner like me to learn how to properly utilize all of its features for entry-level sound design and music production. The keyboard is also ideally-sized for fitting on smaller desks, on beds and for taking along on a commute! In addition to all of those positives, I was fortunate enough to have purchased the M32 when Sweetwater and Native Instruments offered it alongside a software bundle at no extra charge and said bundle has been a dream to create with! Even without the bundle, I would recommend the M32 to any music production, sound design or audio engineering student! There are dozens upon dozens of MIDI keyboards available for sale but, in my opinion, the M32 is the ultimate bang for your buck!

Does not work with Logic as advertised. I can't even load patches

By edgar from san antonio, TX
Music Background: BA in Music - UTSA

I'll repeat what another reviewer noted. And I also will never buy another NI product again. Unfortunately I kept mine instead of returning it. Annoys me every time I plug it in only to be reminded it was a waste of money.

"This is advertised to have DAW control right out of the box but a known issue (since 2019) prevents that from actually working. This is totally false advertising and Native Instruments don't seem to have any idea how to fix it. Needless to say I returned mine and will not be buying anything from Native Instruments again. I really wanted to like it and honestly would have loved it if it had just worked as advertised."

I'm not fully sold on the product.

By Michael C. from Ohio
Music Background: Keyboards and Guitar

Let me start with, Sweetwater's service and staff are impeccable! With that being said, the Native Instruments Komplete Kontrol M32 MKC is not as. Let me explain. Native Instrument support runs you through loops. Too many questions asked about devices or software that does relate or tackle the issues at hand. The manual is outdated and sketchy at most. The controller plays well but it doesn't work well with sustain pedals. Plus, most devices of this nature have a system reboot or factory reset. This does not.

Komplete Kontrol M32 Micro Keyboard Controller

Great software package, poor velocity curve

By Sweetwater Customer

The software that comes with this keyboard is incredible, and alone probably costs more than the keyboard itself. However, I ended up returning this keyboard because the velocity curve on it is poor. I have to press the keys very hard to get decent velocity notes out of this keyboard, and the velocity curve is not adjustable. It's a shame because the form factor of this keyboard and the endless encoder knobs are really nice, but the velocity curve makes it unplayable for me.

Kompact 32 Key MIDI

By Sweetwater Customer

This review is from an experience rhythm guitar player who fell in love with the bass. This is my first MIDI keyboard. I can tell you as experience musician; it was easy to catch on quickly to the 32 slim key layouts for I am already looking for another keyboard piano/synth with more keys that can play analog/digital 8+ voice polyphonic chord progressions with monophonic lead shredding capabilities. This must include delay, reverb and distortion. At the same time, it must be DAW capable (like this one) with I/O possibilities.

I'm going to break down, like it is:

1.) It only has a USB input with a foot controller (no MIDI in/out/thru, no audio output/inputs, no headphone jack).

2.) You are only getting the lowest package of software available from Native Instruments, unless you get a special that opens the door for stage 1, Native Instrument upgradable software.

3.) It only has 32 keys.

If you're a newbie, I am going to help you out and show you what to look for.

If you want and desire to have Native Instrument plugins for your set-up, go with higher option, S49 is the way to go. You get premium keys with the software plugins you need to take steps to the ultimate. ***You get extra and needed I/O***

You can get yourself a synth (analog-monophonic MOOG Mother FOOG you to realms of analog-polyphonic prophecy to analog/digital hybrid-two-headed micro/mini-freak that turns into a professional brute beast.

*You can buy yourself a nice $200 keyboard and with the right MIDI input/output/thru with I/O input/output, you can plug your 49-61-88 keys into multiple desktop synths.

This is a nice little keyboard. Has small keys with great MIDI functions. Has Native Instrument plugins (I only mess with Reaktor, Monark and Massive synth leads it offers). It has a bunch of samples with tons of downloadable extras...

-------with just a USB and foot pedal input--------

***IMPORTANT LIFE MAKING CHOICE*****

A 300 to 700-dollar range MIDI Keyboard with I/O: USB, MIDI capabilities, headphones, speaker audio input/output.
Invest in the right gear that will last you and has growing opportunities to expand your music analog hardware possibilities.

Fits in your lap great but the velocity sensitivity is HORRIBLE

By Collin from Cincinnati
Music Background: EDM Production 7 yrs + Piano 11 Years

If you've used a regular piano or a mid-range priced midi keyboard you'll instantly know that something just doesn't feel quite right.

The jump from normal volume to INSANELY LOUD OUT OF NOWHERE despite pressing only slightly harder is a huge problem.
I have to record what I play like 15 times before it sounds right!

It does have a "Fixed Velocity" button, which I find to be hilarious because most midi keyboards don't have a dedicated button for this, but the velocity sensitivity is so bad on this keyboard that they decided to add it.

Luckily I'll be able to fix this using FL Studio's Midi Scripting feature to fix the velocities automatically as I play using Python code. Nice marketing tactic NI, but it didn't work this time.

Good Things Can Come in Small Packages!

By Ken from Temple City

I love Komplete Kontrol and just wanted a quicker way to access/preview sound. Glad I purchased this little dynamo! It works seamlessly with my NI software, just plug-in-play. The 8 touch-sensitive control knobs lets me tweak my sound on the fly, and transport buttons takes my workflow across multiple DAWs. I thought the mini keys and lack of a mod wheel would be an issue; it actually broadened my workflow. The Komplete Kontrol M32 Micro Keyboard Controller is small but still does the heavy lifting!

Love Native Instruments!

By Justin W. from North Wilkesboro, NC
Music Background: Bedroom Rockstar

This thing is awesome! You can't beat it for the price. Sure there are cheaper but the software and ease of use make this thing great. This is the second NI controller I have owned. The first was the A49. The extra keys are nice but it took up touch space. If you are a series piano player get the largest one you can afford. If you are semi series but not really a full time player than a 49 will do you good. But if you are a guitarist or something just looking to add a few effects or someone who travels you can't beat this one. The small keys make it easier to play. Don't let the lack of wheels scare you the touch strips work fine. I would personally pick this one any day over the 25 key version.

Excellent Siftware Bundle

By Brian from Fountain City, WI
Music Background: musician, composer, vocal music adjudicator

This was an incredible value given the large software bundle that you receive when you register. It is great to have 32 keys to play, and the keyboard works great with the Komplete Kontrol interface. The 32 keys makes it a little large to be truly portable in a backpack, but it saves room in my workspace and offers incredible value for the price.

Amazing Control and Value

By Bill from Wading River, NY

If you use Native Instruments, Arturia synths, u-he synths, or other NKS compatible instruments, this little keyboard provides unparalleled control for the price. Use it with a controller with full-size keys if you need full-size keys, or use it alone. This keyboard is of high quality and is a huge value.

Amazing for the price

By Sweetwater Customer

It has so many great features that you get with it and the level of build quality that this midi controller actually impressive. It is super easily portable so you can bring it anywhere you need. You get loads of software (more than any competitor), and if you want a starting midi controller and want a budget one, get the M32 because the other main competitors just have a lower build quality or it may leave you cheeped out. The keys are not weighted so if you are looking for a keyboard like this get one from the A-series of Komplete Kontrol keyboards. One thing also is you get a little baby LCD screen to tell you certain information regarding what you are doing with your music.

The software you get includes Ableton Live Lite which is great if you do not have a DAW, Machine Essentials which is another DAW/Beat program, the Komplete Kontrol software which is needed to use all the great functions, MONARK which is a great synth for basses and leads, REAKTOR PRISM which has a lot of bell and flute sounds, an electric piano called SCARBEE MARK 1, Komplete Start which anyone can get, but has so many great sounds and plugins, a 2 month subscription to a one shot and loop website called Sounds, and a 25 dollar Native Instruments E-Gift Card which can be used on anything in there shop. Great package for the price and I would recommend this for anyone because you get a DAW, plugins and a midi keyboard to produce with, which is everything you really need to get started.

Pros:
- Nice clean layout so you aren't crammed with unnecessary things
- The keys have this perfect space of when you press the key and when it hits the bottom
- Keys are well made and don't have that cheap feel to them
- Has 32 keys rather than main competitors having usually 25 keys (the 32 keys really make a difference)
- DAW control and function are incredible and makes workflow so smooth
- The amount of included software sets you up for great production
- 8 knobs that are touch sensitive and are infinite knobs too (they turn forever)

Cons:
- No real modulation and pitch wheel (that is expected with a keyboard this cheap though, and they aren't actually that bad, just some prefer real wheels)
- It is portable, but if you want to take it in your bag you will need a larger bag than the average size.
- No pads or anything to drum on except keys (not bad, but some prefer the actual drum pads)
- Software not available on every DAW (I know they are working on more but ones like Fl Studio doesn't have full support)

If you want the extra equipment that the M32 doesn't contain, Native Instruments has a beat pad called Machine and the cheapest one is the Machine Mikro, so if you want a beat pad at the quality of NI, then that area is the way to go.

Nice quality keyboard!!

By Sweetwater Customer

So I got this to replace my M-Audio Axiom25 midi keyboard that crapped out on me. On first opening the box I was kind of saddened because the M32 is way smaller than I expected it to be, and to be honest it looks like a toy. Don't let that fool you though because the keys are nice and solid with great responsiveness and spring back! I love that I can even navigate through plugins and the browser with keyboard. In all this is a wonderful piece of equipment, and I'm definitely satisfied with it!!

Not bad!

By Nic from Ohio

This was bought as a portable solution for making music from the couch (or hotel, or coffee shop) when I don't want to fire up the whole studio rig. This is pretty good for laying down ideas on the go. But I was really surprised to see how tightly integrated the whole experience is controlling Logic Pro X. Not just transport controls, but you can mix with it, scroll timeline, select level and pan. AND! Because of the continuous faders, you don't have to reset the levels when panning across banks of channels. That's really handy! It's also really nice that you can just touch the faders to bring up what it controls without having to spin it. I actually have gotten used to it as just a regular control surface.

The integration with KK is nice too, and I like the fact that it has the extended range with 32 keys.

The only downsides are: the keys are small and make your hands cramp up trying to do anything more than simple runs or playing out harmonies. It's not a performance tool, but more of a compromise to let you control your workflow and lay down ideas or simpler compositions. That wasn't enough to knock a star off.

However, the reason I had to take a star off was the capacitance feature of the knobs caused some feedback/ground noise in some situations, which is bizarre that it even translates the electrical signal to the interface at all. I didn't notice this when in "laptop" mode, but connected to the whole studio it was concerning (and annoying to hear that when trying to change levels).

Sweetwater/NI folks, sounds like potentially a defect?

Amazing! Great value!

By Jake57

This is a great little midi keyboard controller, especially for this price. What amazes me most is the Komplete Kontrol software that comes with it, that not only controls instruments by Native Instruments, but it also finds and controls many of my synths and other instruments in this one standalone application, including Arturia and uh-e Diva. When you first use Komplete Kontrol it scans everything looking for presets, and I mean everything, and not just Native Instruments. Just browse through types of instruments and categories, all of which are in one browser, which you can control from the keyboard. When you select a preset, the keyboard already can control whatever instrument comes up. The keys play fairly well for the price. They're small, of course, but playable. Also included are Monark, Reaktor, and a Scarbee Mark I electric piano. You can also map the controller directly in just about any virtual instrument, using it's 4 pages of 8 knobs each. That's 32 knobs of midi conntrol! I love it. I'm not aware of any other product at this price (or any) that can do all this.

Perfect travel companion!

By Phil C. from Clermont, FL

I needed a controller that I could easily pack up and bring with me on business trips. I travel almost weekly and am away from my full studio much of the time (grrrr). This little beast has given me new found freedom to get some of my ideas into my DAW while I'm away from home, and while they're fresh on my mind! I wouldn't say it's the best tool to fully compose a piece, but it sets me up to get something captured where I can later load it into my home studio setup to complete it there. I'm very happy with this NI micro controller!

Not bad for handling KK instruments in tight places

By ssante from USA
Music Background: Pro Musican, Producer, Boutique Label Owner

Keys, Knobs and button's not too bad. The little screen is not so useful when scrolling patches and honestly just okay for seeing what parameters your knobs are controlling. The fact that knobs are capacitive is nice as is the sustain pedal input. You will use the computer screen to view a lot of data. It will be interesting to see how long the 4 way knob will last since its used a huge amount for browsing and scrolling KK instruments. I have knocked off stars as the unit does not support browsing "Banks". In order to select a specific bank you must reach for mouse. Once you click the big 4 way knob to get to your preset category and choose your preset getting back up the chain is not so intuitive as it involves moving the knob to the left to back up through the chain. It not always obvious where you are unless you turn the knob bit to light up the on screen KK panel. But its definitely beats using a Mouse all the time with limited space which is why I bought the unit.

By Jonathan F. from Bronx, NY

So I bought this with the intention to integrate with maschine and komplete kontrol. One I plugged it in I instantly notice all the features were not accessible. After hours of trying to trouble shoot and research potential solutions.. nothing. Apparently I am not the only one with this problem. Yet, native instruments has done nothing about it and this hardware is still on the market. Mind you, they don’t even have customer representatives to speak to. I love native instruments but I was highly disappointed. Please pay mind to this and save your self the headache.

Great little keyboard, some S1 integration problems

By Bruce I. from Massachusetts

This is a great little keyboard, ideal for working with synths in my desktop recording setup, replacing iRig KEYS. I have several larger keyboards but I need something compact for everyday recording. The build is solid and the keys feel nice for synth applications. The bundled NI synths and plugins are a nice bonus.

I use Studio One as my DAW and I was prompted to buy the M32 when I saw that S1 4.5.3 had added Komplete Kontrol integration. That is nice when it works, but so far it has been intermittent for me. When it works it is convenient to use M32 buttons and knobs to start/stop, scroll the playback head, and do other things in S1. But it doesn't always work when I restart my PC. I suppose this is a software conflict of some sort that will improve with future releases. It's not critical for my work.

This thing is perfect

By Patrick from Maryland
Music Background: Rock, Pop

I couldn"t be happier with my new M32. I have a S61Mk2 and a Maschine Mk3 in my home studio but was looking for something portable that I could travel with and use with my laptop. It"s perfect. If you already use NI gear, this will feel very familiar and you"ll be up and running in no time. The build quality feels good. Knobs and buttons similar to the bigger versions. The keys are quite nice. Despite being "micro" they are easy to play and there is good resistance which makes for a nice action. Great for programming bass and synth parts.

In summary, this is exactly the product I expected it would be and I wouldn"t be without it now. Great value for money too...

Excellent Portable Keyboard

By Mason L.

This is an excellent portable keyboard. Yes, it"s got a wire and no batteries, but it has a lot of solid, velocity sensitive keys that feel good in a light, well-made housing. It"s good at doing its job, making music.

I"ve got its older, bigger brother, the Komplete Kontrol S49 and it"s a different animal entirely. The M32 has 7/8th sized keys that are much shorter than the S49. This is good for me since I have smaller hands. But the S49 can take a real pounding. The M32 is built well too, but its smaller size/mass doesn"t inspire the same physical expression. They"re both KK and work with the superb software instruments, but they feel like kompletely different instruments (bells+hammers vs soft flute).

Quibbles:

- No battery. If you plug it into an iPad, you need a battery pack or power line. Why does this take so much USB power??? It"s got a tiny OLED display and a bunch of buttons.

- It"s got a USB wire. I"d love to be able to lay on the couch, put this on my belly, and jam freely. Unfortunately Bluetooth is too laggy/unreliable and wireless USB/RaspPi hosts are too complicated

- There"s no Komplete Kontrol instrument software for iPad. There"s some acceptable synths on iPad, but KK ain"t one of them which sucks cause of the vast size and cost of the KK wares oughta span platforms. Still the M32 is a good midi kontroller for the iPad— it"s just missing the kompleteness

- No D rings for camera strap or holes for strap locks and a guitar strap. This cool board really does ache for a strap so it can be played keytar style. Native Instruments should make a keytar.

- No LEDs/lightguide. Needs moar das blinkenlights. I prefer my keyboards to look like Christmas trees. Seriously the whole lit key of the S-series has a lot of artist/composition/guidance potential but with so few keyboards with colored lit keys, there"ll never be any serious software using the idea outside of NI.

- Why are the extra keys, beyond the normal 25 in portables, on the bass side instead of the treble side??? I need more melody range, yo.

- There are far too many KK instruments to be effectively navigated with a Browse button and a knob. The favorites/star in the KK software helps, but you oughta have a panel of programmable instrument preset buttons (like on a Launchpad). The 8 instrument knobs are nice, but secondary compared to instrument selection

- There"s needs to be Newline/Return and Backspace DAW keys so that you can blast out a melody sloppily and go onto the next one without wrecking your flow. And while copying modern computer keyboards, label the keys with letters (yes I know, keyboard stickers). It"s no wonder physical musical instruments are going extinct. Too esoteric with lousy pedagogy. Next iteration of the lightguide should have translucent keys and the LEDs oughta light up the keys. If you wanted normal piano style, buy an A-series. But those ain"t nearly as cool or useful or desirable.

Great little keyboard

By Dmitry from Philadelphia
Music Background: Composer, producer

I have the full size komplete 88 and loved the build quality and just overall design. I was looking for a small keyboard with the same quality and couldn"t find anything I actually liked...until they released this one. Kontrol Yourself

By Ashtangakasha
Music Background: Composer, sound designer.

Let's start off with the only real negative -- this keyboard does not have aftertouch.

Fortunately, the positives significantly compensate for this deficiency (which may be less than obvious when reading the specs). In particular, the 8 touch-sensitive infinity knobs are a pretty decent way to manage expression if you don't have aftertouch. And in practical terms, I wonder how many performers who do need aftertouch would settle for a mini keyboard in the first place. With an M32 you're likely to be twiddling knobs all the time, so having that one extra degree of live control might be more redundant than useful. I've also found that in composing multi-track projects, many voices don't need aftertouch, and eliminating that barrage of aftertouch MIDI messages reduces CPU load.

Komplete Kontrol keyboards, from the M32 to the S88-MK2, are really focused on one unique capability -- making the sprawling universe of Native Instruments patches, tens of thousands of them, as accessible as possible. While the A series provides a pair of color displays, somewhat eliminating the need for a computer screen, the M32 (with no screens) still provides a surprisingly usable interface for operating the Komplete Kontrol "head unit" on a nearby computer. Bear in mind that the Komplete Kontrol software is always required, for all keyboards in this line, as a central control environment for accessing the NI synths and fx. So even with the A series, you still must have KK running on a computer to use the full potential of the NI library. (You can, of course, use the M32 without KK, as a generic MIDI controller. See below.)

Technically, the M32 is not completely devoid of displays. It does provide a tiny LCD with two lines of text that identify which parameters are being changed (usually by the 8 knobs), and this is often very useful info. The display itself is the same as the tiny displays provided for each knob on the higher-end keyboards. By providing one display for all 8 knobs, the price of the M32 is kept extremely low. Other spartan design choices also reduce the price, but there is no indication of cheapness or flimsy build quality. This is a serious keyboard for desktop or portable use of a supremely sophisticated synthesizer environment that incorporates some of the most advanced synthesis engines ever built (e.g., Kontakt, Absynth, Reaktor, Massive, etc.).

Another caveat for casual MIDI controller buyers -- this is a mini-key keyboard with smaller than normal keys. Is that a plus or a minus? It depends entirely on why you might need a MIDI controller. The keys are slightly larger than some other mini-key keyboards, and they have a solid (though diminutive) feel to them, without any annoying plastic clicky noises. And 32 notes is tremendously more useful than 24. If you play piano, obviously the M32 won't cut it. But if you're laying tracks with a limited amount of space to work in, the M32 can do almost anything you would need.

Since the M32 can be used WITHOUT any interaction with the Komplete software running on a PC, in plain vanilla MIDI mode, there's no reason it couldn't be a central component in any small composing or performing setup. The M32 also provides buttons for transport and track control in Logic Pro X, GarageBand, Ableton Live 10, and eventually Cubase and Nuendo. Since I use Sonar (RIP), Cakewalk by BandLab, and Adobe Audition, this isn't much use to me, but I don't use MIDI controllers in that manner anyway. The knobs send standard MIDI codes, and it looks like the NI Controller Editor app can change those code assignments, but most DAWs can be set to respond to whatever codes the keyboard happens to send, so reconfiguring the M32 for generic MIDI use is usually unnecessary. There are 4 pages of knob CC assignments, and the LCD shows the control / value of whatever knob you're touching.

The M32 also provides some knob-controlled arpeggiator and chord features that are beyond the scope of this review. Suffice to say that if you need to operate some simple arp sequences from the keyboard, rather than from within your DAW or some arpeggiator plugin, then you can do it. The chord feature makes more sense as a keyboard feature, since the settings are simpler and more useful to have at your fingertips. Not all DAWs have chord modes, so here the M32 may be a big help for some users.

It's worth mentioning that the transport controls in the M32 are modeled after the Maschine product line, and some Maschine users may enjoy using the keyboard of the M32 more than the button matrix layout of the Maschine products.

I'm very happy with the design and conceptualization of the M32. I may find a way to integrate the transport controls into my setup, but they are not why I bought the M32. Specifically, I wanted to have a handy way to operate the Komplete Kontrol software, since it's a great way to access the entire Komplete library with or without a DAW. And I needed a compact keyboard for desktop and lap use. This is the first mini-keyboard I've found that I actually enjoy playing, although I don't imagine any mini-keyboard will ever end up in my live performance setup. I was also curious to see how useful the NI keyboard interface would be, before investing in the S61-MK2 or S88-MK2. The M32 support is still evolving, but the keyboard is immediately useful for its primary role -- quick & logical access to the Komplete library. It's a great product, somewhat specialized, but an excellent choice for quick entry into the universe of Native Instruments.

PS: The included intro selection of Komplete synths is worth the price of admission: Maschine Essentials, Monark (miniMoog emulator), Reaktor Prism, Scarbee Mark 1 (electric piano), Komplete Kontrol, and a lite version of Ableton Live which you can use as an instant fully-integrated DAW.

Not with Pro Tools, you don't.

By Miller

If you're thinking you'll enjoy using this with Komplete in Pro Tools you can stow that noise. Ableton or Apple, but not Avid. (Can you blame them? Dealing with Avid is no fun.) Works great when you run Komplete Kontrol as a stand alone. Hopefully NI will develop support for Pro Tools as a host, but I won't hold my breath.

Works Great

By Russ from Ga

Exactly what I expected. Mini 32 key keyboard. Fits great on my desk and doesn't take up a lot of space. Works flawlessly with Komplete Kontrol. Easily fits in a backpack.

nice little keyboard

By Nima from LA

I'm already in the native instruments ecosystem. So this keyboard has been a great mobile addition. Works as expected just like all the other komplete kontrol keyboards. The small form factory however makes it my number one companion along with the laptop.

Thanks to Ted Hunter as always.

Excellent!

By Sweetwater Customer from Fort Worth, Texas

Okay so first of all, it is SO lightweight. The micro keys feel good, and they"re slightly larger than other micro keys which is great! Build quality is good and the touch strips are good. Although for some things I might prefer mod-wheels. I already use it live as a second keyboard for pads while I play piano. It works great. My only issue is that I"ve not figured out how to assign the nobs to mainstage yet. I definitely recommend this because of the 32 instead of 25. It allows for so much more to happen at your hands. The integration works seamlessly with logic x. Although it takes a quick minute to learn.

I love it

By Samuel from Fort Worth, Tx

The macro keys feel great and they"re slightly large than others. 32 keys gives so much more freedom than 25. Build quality feels good, nobs have a good resistance. And it looks great. Just be aware that pitch bend and mod "wheel" have a different feeling you might have to adjust to because they are touch strips. They do add something different than the wheel. But they are different.

Btw this doesn"t fit into an average backpack. But it is extremely portable. It"s small and I take it almost everywhere and I already use it live vie mainstage.

I have not been able to assign the nobs to mainstage yet.*

I do recommend

GREAT compact midi controller

By Sweetwater Customer from CA
Music Background: Guitar and Logic

The last small midi controller I had was an M-Audio Oxygen 02, which is hard to compare this to with the leaps in technology since then...but nonetheless.

It's more compact than I thought(It's stays true to the "micro" in it's name) and will be great for travel; The trade off for portability is obviously the smaller keys but I'll take that over a laptop keyboard ANY DAY.

The integration is what blew me away. It did take a little effort/frustration & research to narrow it down to just being having a few boxes checked in the preferences for Maschine and Logic (could have been more clearly laid out in the setup steps) but after a few changes and computer restart it plugs n plays without any issues.

Also, I don't think anyone would try to argue Native Instruments is inexpensive (short of the deals they offer at any given time). Thus, it's pretty cool they came out with some hardware that gives anyone trying to get into DAW related music making a low cost entry point using the industry standard quality they offer.

The little display is a nice addition and more detailed compared to the short names and weird #'s/characters I'm use to with other less integrative midi controller displays.

Solid build despite the light weight.

Nice aesthetics; "Just enough" native instrument brand labeling, so those who "know" can see what you're using. There's enough of the buttons that light up to give some additional aesthetics as well.
