A new album, People, Hell & Angels, featuring 12 never-before-heard tracks in 1968 and 1969 by Jimi Hendrix, mostly backed by Mitch Mitchell or Buddy Miles on drums and Billy Cox or Stephen Stills on bass, will be released on March 5. Though some posthumous Hendrix releases have been shall we say, “spotty” in their quality, this release is garnering positive pre-reviews from journalists and others who have heard it. The 12 tracks are said to reveal Hendrix pursuing new tones and approaches, perhaps a harbinger of where he might have gone had he not passed away in 1970.
