Is there anything hotter right now than the current crop of virtual instruments? Among the hottest of the bunch is Native Instruments’ REAKTOR, which fuses synthesis, sampling, effects and sequencing into one package. Now the company has announced it is releasing a new update which will take REAKTOR to version 5.1. Yes, there are a number of bug fixes, compatibility improvements (v5.1 now works with Pro Tools 7), various optimizations and so forth, but the big news is that v5.1 adds a wide range of updated instruments, sounds and effects, bringing the total number to a whopping 63! Among the new additions are four synths: Gaugegear, Equinoxe Deluxe, FM4, and 2-Osc. Honestly, you could spend most of your waking hours with this totally addictive software. Naturally, registered REAKTOR 5 users can download the update for free.
