When one of the greatest synth engineers of all time, Dave Smith, decided to make an analog drum machine, who did he chose to team up with but Roger Linn, one of the original drum machine gurus. The result: the Dave Smith Instruments Tempest. On the outside, the Tempest may look a lot like an old-school drum machine, and it certainly has that analog appeal, but inside, this drum machine is anything but old fashioned. Loaded with six analog voices (each with two analog oscillators) plus an additional pair of digital oscillators, the Tempest is ready for anything. What’s more, the Tempest’s 90 panel controls, and bright 256 x 64 OLED display make operation flexible, intuitive, and just plain fun.
