Each Miroslav Philharmonik module (also known as an “instance”) can have a maximum polyphony of 256 notes. However, this number can be changed. Click and drag on the number under the POLY header. In some cases (for instance for solo instruments), you can make the number as low as two or three. But keep in mind that this number can’t exceed the maximum polyphony your specific computer can handle.
As the number of notes currently playing exceeds this number, you’ll see an exclamation point (!) symbol appear. Each time you exceed this number, the oldest note will be cancelled. For example, if you set 32 and you play 33 notes, the first note played will be dropped. When CPU usage is close to or exceeds 100%, performance deteriorates. Therefore it’s a good idea to never have more instances of Philharmonik open than is necessary. It’s also a good idea to limit the polyphony of any instance, particularly when you know the part will only require a few notes. This is good common sense when using any software instruments.
