For many players, there is an inverse relationship between a guitar‘s action and its tone. What many players (and techs) do is set up a guitar with the lowest possible action — ower the strings until they buzz, then raise them up just to where the buzz is bearable.
For better tone, consider working the other way: raise the strings as much as possible without compromising playability. You’ll likely find that sustain will increase, the guitar will ring better, the tone will be fuller, and each note will be more articulate.
