When the folks at Frontier Design Group released their wireless remote DAW controller, TranzPort, they promised some interesting developments down the road. Well, now the company has released version 1.3 of the TranzPort driver for both the Mac and PC platforms, it turns out you can now control Apple’s hugely popular iTunes software wirelessly. In addition to the basic Play, Stop, and Volume controls, TranzPort lets you select tracks, navigate your iTunes library by artist, album, or song, add songs to specific playlists, and even control shuffle and repeat modes. In Cue mode, TranzPort can be used to trigger backup tracks from a footswitch or a TranzPort button in a live performance environment. You can also set the Start and Stop times of a song and even enable looping, which lets you practice a particular part of a song or transcribe a particularly complex solo. This is all very impressive, but even more so when you realize that TranzPort is available for under $200 from Sweetwater – with free shipping included!
