Q: “Why does Vegas 7.0 keep asking me to register even though I’ve entered my application code?”
A: This situation has come up with a few customers have attempted to install and run Vegas. The solution has to do with their Windows operating system. If you are running Windows 2000 or Windows XP Pro (not XP Home Edition) this might help you with other software installations as well.
When installing Vegas, Sound Forge or Acid Pro on Windows 2000 or Windows XP Professional, you must be logged in under an Administrator account. To install Vegas properly under Windows 2000 or Windows XP Professional, log in with full administrative rights. This allows the software to make the necessary changes needed to the registry.
And please note: You should also be logged in with these rights the first time you run the software to finish your registration and activation. Logging in as an administrator is not necessary for Windows XP Home Edition, as every user on that OS is set up with full administrative rights.
