Importing Other Formats Into Kontakt 2.2

One of the most exciting features of Native Instruments Kontakt 2.2 is its ability to import samples in many other formats. If you import, for example, an Akai S1000 sample set, you not only get additional processing (including convolution reverb), but more polyphony, as well. Thus, rather than being able to play only eight stereo voices as you would on the Akai, you can play far more within Kontakt. In fact, Kontakt 2.2 actually has a Polyphony Meter, however, since it is capable of streaming samples direct from disc (DFD), you’ll probably rarely need to worry about exceeding your limit, particularly using a moderately “muscular” system, such as a Mac G5 with two 2GHz processors and four gigabytes of RAM. Kontakt users can actually scan for readable samples, after which you build a database using the QuickLoad function.
