If you’ve been drooling over the prospect of buying a Gibson Dark Fire guitar, then be aware that the company now says that its retail partners did not get the anticipated number of instruments on December 15th as originally planned. This is due to the unusually high demand for the new guitar, as well as the complex production process involved in the installation of the proprietary technology. So, production has been limited to just a few units per day. Gibson says it will keep building them and plans to deliver shipments to participating dealers over the course of the next few weeks and then into early 2009. Henry Juszkiewicz, chairman and CEO of Gibson Guitar, explains it this way: “Gibson takes great pride in providing their fans and consumers the best possible musical experience in the world. The Dark Fire is poised to change the guitar industry and, because of that, we have decided to produce the [instrument] slowly and roll it out in a way that will meet consumer expectations that the guitar they purchase is perfect in every way.” Stay tuned for further updates regarding this super-hot guitar!
