PreSonus’s Studio One 2 DAW has a cool feature called “note erase”; if you select Note Erase in the Record panel while recording a MIDI part, a note played during a recording pass will erase and replace existing notes with the same note value (note number). So if the existing pass has a “C1” on beat 4 of a measure, and you play a C1 during a recording pass that original C1 will be erased. It’s a simple way to remove unwanted notes from a pass while recording.
Even better, you can set up an Erase Key in the recording panel. While that note is held, any notes played during a recording pass will erase existing notes of the same note value.
