Dot Markers

Fret markers that are in the form of little round circles. Dot markers are the most common fret markers. They are usually found on the 3rd, 5th, 7th, 15th, 17th, and 19th frets. Guitars often have double dots on the 12th fret, and 24-fret guitars may have double dots there as well. In at least one case (vintage ES-335s), a guitar adorned with dot markets is referred to as a “dot neck.”
