For the many thousands of you that use MOTU Digital Performer (and the thousands more who should be using it) please take note: MOTU has just released Digital Performer Version 5, a major upgrade to their flagship software DAW. New features? Are you kidding? It wouldn’t be a MOTU product without some interesting upgrades! In all windows that display tracks (such as the Sequence Editor) users can now organize their track lists into folders and sub-folders, much like the list view in the Mac OS X Finder. Meter Bridge is a new window that’s dedicated to monitoring all the signal paths in the Digital Performer mixing environment. The tool bar now contains four useful new audio editing tools: Trim, Slip, Slide, and Roll. Other hot new features include:
- Six brand-new, CPU-efficient virtual instrument plug-ins (BassLine, PolySynth, Modulo, Nanosynth, Model 12, and Proton).
- Lots of new film scoring features.
- New input monitoring modes.
- Clip-based volume automation.
- Many other feature additions and enhancements!
Digital Performer is set to retail for $795. Existing registered DP users should check with their Sweetwater Sales Engineer for upgrade pricing.
