Cakewalk has unveiled its latest update to SONAR Artist, SONAR Professional, and SONAR Platinum. Dubbed “Ipswitch,” its new Direct Synth Recording option offers real-time, sample-accurate virtual instrument recording and rendering — whether to capture a performance, randomized synth parameters, or simply to create an audio backup track. Also, three new ProChannel “Style Dial” effects — Grit, Max, and Space — offer single-knob processing in SONAR Professional and Platinum, and they’re also included in the new Mix Strip processing channel that’s now integrated into SONAR Artist.
Additional features include enhanced file export and bounce options that now support user-created and factory presets, as well as the ability to export entire “families” of individual clips, with or without time stamping. You can also now capture reverb and echo tails that extend beyond the clip being exported. Track icons now support the PNG format. In addition, this update includes multiple bug fixes and optimizations.
The SONAR “Ipswich” release is a free download from the Cakewalk Command Center for all current SONAR Artist, Professional, and Platinum customers.
