BOSS has announced two new Special Edition pedals, which will be shown for the first time at next week’s NAMM show in Anaheim, California. The new pedals are all-new designs that build use BOSS’s cutting edge technology to create a superior tonal and playing experience.
First up is the OD-1X, which builds upon the legacy of the original BOSS OD-1 overdrive, first released in 1978. The new pedal offers organic tone created using MDP technology. It has Drive and Volume controls for shaping gain and output, and low and high controls for sculpting the tone. A bold new metal faceplace and metal knobs step up the look, while the silver battery compartment knob harkens back to the vintage past.
Next is the DS-1X, which draws upon the original DS-1 Distortion from 1979. Loaded with the same features and technology as the OD-1X, the DS-1X delivers a broad range of distortion effects, from subtle crunchy breakup to singing high-gain sustain.
