Antelope Audio has introduced the FET-A76 compressor and VEQ-HLF, Helios 69, NEU-PEV and Lang PEQ2 equalizers for the Goliath, Zen Tour, and Orion Studio audio interfaces. The new compressor and EQs are based on classic vintage hardware processors and utilize the proprietary Field Programmable Gate Array technology found in the interfaces to provide signal processing with near-zero latency and with authentic recreation of the sound and character of the original vintage hardware. The new processors are available free of charge for owners of Antelope Audio’s Orion Studio and Zen Tour interfaces now, and will be available for Goliath soon.
The new processors:
- FET-A76 — An exacting recreation of the studio-standard FET compressor that was introduced in the late 1960s. The FET-A76 features Input and Output controls and a selectable 4-way ratio control with hidden “all-buttons” mode for a more aggressive compression character — just like the original.
- VEQ-HLF — This Pultec-style EQ features passive low-cut and high-cut filters at carefully selected frequency intervals. With 10 frequency selections per band, it is ideal for shaping the high and low end and creating space in a mix by eliminating unnecessary material at the extremes of the audio spectrum.
- Helios 69 — From The Beatles to Led Zeppelin, the Helios 69 console was used for amazing recordings in the ’60s and ’70s. Its EQ bass band offers a stepped 50 Hz shelf filter or frequency-selectable peak EQ. The treble band is a fixed 10kHz shelf EQ. The mid band is a frequency-selectable peak or notch EQ with a choice of eight available frequencies. The Helios 69 EQ preserves transparency while adding space and presence.
- NEU-PEV — The NEU-PEV EQ is modeled on a rare German passive equalizer designed in the 1960s. A low shelving filter is fixed at 60Hz and can apply a boost or cut. The “Presence” section offers up to 8dB of boost for one of seven selectable frequencies between 700Hz and 5.6kHz. The 10kHz high shelf allows boost or cut at the top end of the frequency spectrum.
- Lang PEQ2 — The solid-state PEQ2 parametric EQ model is similar to the VEQ-1A tube EQ (also available from Antelope), but allows users to set independent low-band boost and cut frequencies. The PEQ2 provides plenty of width in the midrange while retaining tightness on the high end and low end. Try it on vocals and drum overheads!
