Cloud Microphones introduced two new products at AES 2013, the CL4 and the 44-A. The CL4 is a rackmount unit comprising four Cloudlifter ultra-clean gain modules, providing 25dB of boost for low-output dynamic and ribbon microphones, and for driving long cable runs.
Inspired by the RCA lineage, the 44-A is an active ribbon microphone. The 44-A features a handcrafted ribbon made to 1930’s specifications and active electronics based on Cloud’s award-winning Cloudlifter gain circuitry. According to Cloud, the 44-A provides ribbon mic personality with modern clarity and features. A Voice/Music switch controls proximity effect, making the 44-A more versatile. A shockmount, handcrafted wooden box, and microfiber cover are included.
