While at NAMM 2024, Mitch Gallagher happened upon a familiar face and longtime friend of Sweetwater: John Petrucci. Yes, the virtuosic guitarist renowned for his electrifying artistry deployed as a founding member of Dream Theater, its instrumental offshoot Liquid Tension Experiment, as well as a laundry list of solo work that includes guest spots, full-length records, and 2005’s G3 Tour with shredder compatriots Joe Satriani and Steve Vai. As John’s career and artistry have grown, Ernie Ball Music Man has been his go-to source of sonic support for 23 years and counting, marked by the launch of his first signature guitar, followed by the iconic Majesty series of axes that are celebrating 10 years of musical magic. John and Mitch found a spot in Ernie Ball’s “eagle’s nest,” as John refers to the company’s space, to chop it up: 2024 releases, Mike Portnoy’s return to Dream Theater, collaborating with his wife for a special Majesty finish, and more.
